Comfut from spain

COMFUT is that the name of a future warrior system from Spain,,,,,if so then i think this whole concept of future soldier has almost become paranoic and maniacal,,,,don't know how far they all would be successful.

US deploys 'game-changer' weapon to Afghanistan

It looks and acts like something best left in the hands of Sylvester Stallone's"Rambo," ]but this latest dream weapon is real – and the US Army sees it becoming the Taliban's worst nightmare.

The Pentagon has rolled out prototypes of its first-ever programmable "smart" grenade launcher, a shoulder-fired weapon that uses microchipped ammunition to target and kill the enemy, even when the enemy is hidden behind walls or other cover.

After years of development, the XM25 Counter Defilade Target Engagement System, about the size of a regular rifle, has now been deployed to US units on the battlefields of Afghanistan[, where the Army expects it to be a game-changer" in its counter-insurgency operations.
"For well over a week, it's been actively on patrols, and in various combat outposts in areas that are hot," said Lieutenant Colonel Chris Lehner, program manager for the XM25.

The gun fires 25mm air-bursting shells up to 2,300 feet, well past the range of most rifles used by today's soldiers, and programs them to explode at a precise distance, allowing troops to neutralise insurgents hiding behind walls, rocks or trenches or inside buildings.
"This is the first time we're putting smart technology into the hands of the individual soldier,"[/B][/COLOR] Lt Col Lehner told AFP in a telephone interview.

"It's giving them the edge," he said, in the harsh Afghan landscape where Islamist extremists have vexed US troops using centuries-old techniques of popping up from behind cover to engage.
"You get behind something when someone is shooting at you, and that sort of cover has protected people for thousands of years," Lt Col Lehner said.
"Now we're taking that away from the enemy forever."

that XM25 is quite over rated, look at MRPS kit from Israel

this can do the same thing which XM25 can do that too at very very low cost at the existing Assault rifle.

now checked out this

INSAS rifle with MRPS kit, this was offered to India in 2006, but shockingly it was rejected.

That could have been our cheap XM25.

the mprs kit is a huge force multiplier as it can be mounted on regular assault rifle like the tavor and insas.only god knows why was it rejected.the drdo is probably working on something similar to mprs kit because it is mentioned in finsas article on wiki that they are already working on air burst grenade for finsas mounted grenade launcher.also a kit similar to mprs can be mounted on drdo manufactured multiple grenade launcher which is used by IA regulars and also by rashtriya rifles soldiers in counter insurgency in kashmir.as in the case of other US weapons the xm-25 is an overhyped system because it requirs a separate grenade firing rifle
unlike mprs.but the rifle design looks super-sexy and can be adopted in the finsas rifle instead of the speculated fn-2000 design.

Mr. Sayare,

First of all, many thanks for these valuable photos. I found the non line-of-sight SMLE modification (quote 1) the best, given its legacy value.

Do you know or could you speculate why the INSAS with MRPS (quote 2) was rejected?

Thanks.

@pmaitra, non line of sight devices are important even in todays context please check the video, if these policemen had something like non line of sight device in their rifle, then mumbai attack would have different result from the start.

As far as MRPS on INSAS is concern it is great system, but i speculate someone must have though that this system does not go with our doctrine and it is too sephosticate sytem to be given to Indian security forces. I see no other reason why it was rejected given the fact that Israeli system are accepted by Indian forces.

^^ Thanks for the response Mr. Sayare. I wish CISF, RPF and even policemen had units equipped with non-LoS weapons, because they will be first ones to come into action in case there is any terrorist attack or hostage crisis.

Hopefully, we will see their (non-LoS weapons) induction someday.

Israelis offered this to India.

India should just develop another rifle however.

Macroswiss has developed a new device named ACCS or Advanced Combat Camera System for military purposes.
The device can also be thought of as a 21st century periscope but has far more application areas than the traditional periscope.
The ACCS is a evolution of the highly successful Giraffe pole camera system and it also incorporates color zoom, low light and thermal sensors.
The amazing features of this device makes it useful in a multitude of roles in support of combat units at fire team level and also provides an Onboard DVR system for intelligence applications.
