A lot of Europe's "progress" is built on the wealth accumulated through colonization. Colonization won't happen again. The trend that we are seeing in Europe is a gradual, albeit slow, decline and degeneration. One solution that Europe found was to import people from abroad, but these people today have, in a few cases, turned into hostile minorities, like in France.

Bottom line is, a nation can be strong only if the people of that nation were willing and capable of enduring general hardships, and willing to work, and not be spoilt by luxuries.

Nikishino: Novorossia's "Extraordinary Force" in Action?

2/1/2015

By J.Hawk

The two bloggers who write most extensively about the conduct of military operations on the Donbass are YuraSumy and Colonel Cassad, who cover the same topic in strikingly different ways. Whereas YuraSumy tends to cover the "big picture" in a breezily optimistic tone, Cassad is highly detailed, and at the same time guarded in his judgments, to the point of being pessimistic. Yet it's YuraSumy who seems to have a better grasp on the dynamic of the events or, as an alternative explanation, Cassad simply knows (much) more than he is willing to say. Consider, for example, Cassad's oft-used characterization of engagements fought by Novorossia's forces as being mainly won by artillery fire, with the militia largely occupying abandoned positions. Well, this description does not square with the aftermath of the battle for Nikishino, as shown on Komsomolskaya Pravda's video report from the liberated village:
Komsomolskaya Pravda Video:
Visible evidence suggests that Ukrainian forces did not merely leave Nikishino after an artillery bombardment. The sheer number of destroyed and abandoned vehicles, ammunition scattered everywhere and, especially, personal belongings left behind as if it were some land-based Mary Rose, indicate this was no pull-back to a position less exposed to artillery fire. No, this heavily defended and well fortified town (as Cassad noted on his blog, the two sides have been butting heads over Nikishino for a long time, with no success) was clearly overrun by a conventional ground assault, and overrun so quickly its defenders in effect had to flee for their lives. This is far from the only engagement that seems to have unfolded in this manner. The Donetsk Airport, strongpoint 31 on the Bakhmutka, possibly the initial assault on Peski that led to the capture of the city, the initial assault on Popasnaya, definitely Uglegorsk, all are strikingly similar in their execution. A short but violent artillery preparation, followed by an overwhelming assault that overruns a well fortified position (and they all were) with apparent ease and minimal own casualties. However, the initial assault completed, the "extraordinary force" withdraws, and the "ordinary force" takes its place, digs in, and repels Ukrainian counter-attacks which are moreover attrited by artillery fire. Rinse, lather, repeat, until the Ukrainian forces collapse from demoralization and attrition, or the internal contradiction within the junta result in a split within the Ukrainian armed forces, with a resultant civil war.

This bifurcation is consistent with Sun Tzu's concepts of "ordinary force" (which actually does most of the fighting, especially of protracted positional nature, but also creates preconditions of the "extraordinary force") and the "extraordinary force", which is small, elite, and used to achieve decisive results once suitable conditions are met. The militia seems to be the "ordinary force." They are the ones holding the front lines and defeating Ukrainian counter-attacks. The "extraordinary force", on the other hand, is a hit-and-run force, and therefore largely invisible to the cameras. There are precedents for this. The Red Army of the Great Patriotic War used the Guards and Shock Armies to spearhead breakthrough operations (which in turn would be exploited by Tank Armies), while the mass of ordinary infantry armies bore the brunt of defensive operations and positional fighting in general. Since Novorossia forces are steeped in that tradition, it's not surprising they resorted to a similar organization, particularly under conditions resembling that of the Great Patriotic War, namely a continuous front line.

The events of the past several weeks indicate Novorossia's forces are not a merely "artillery destroys, infantry occupies" army. They can do much more than that. They can take out a well fortified Ukrainian position in a matter of hours. Their effectiveness is such that one is starting to see absolutely fantastic reports from the Ukrainian side, including the sightings of the brand-new Armata main battle tanks (which as of right now exist only as prototypes and pre-production models). Ukrainian forces, it should be noted, lack a similar capability. Nowhere have we seen them demonstrate an ability to seize a defended position with a rapid ground assault. For example, the battle for Uglegorsk, specifically the Ukrainian counter-attack, featured some pretty elite formations, namely the Kulchytsky Battalion of the National Guard reinforced by the Svityaz MVD special operations unit. These were clearly the rapid reaction force of the Debaltsevo grouping, intended to counter-attack on endangered sectors of the front. And? They failed to eject the "ordinary force" Novorossia militia out of Uglegorsk, even though the resulting battle was costly for the militia. About the only success the Kulchytsky Battalion was...shooting up Semenchenko's Donbass Battalion as it blundered onto the battlefield.

So, why aren't Novorossia's "extraordinary forces" used more? Because one gets the impression the Novorossia army is toying with its enemy.

One is reminded of the recent announcement made on the Russian Spring website which, although not made by Zakharchenko, was issued in such a way as to suggest he endorsed the ideas expressed within it. The statement, in essence, stated that time is not right for an outright offensive against Kiev forces. Novorossia's army will have to stand pat for a while and fight a positional war, even if it means immense hardship for the people of the Donbass in the short term. However, Zakharchenko was also emphatic that there is a plan for further action, which for obvious reasons cannot be revealed.

So, what is the plan? Why are Novorossia's forces being kept on a short leash? There are two possibilities. One is that Zakharchenko (and, by extension, Putin) are hoping that the internal contradictions within the junta will bubble up to the surface as Ukrainian forces are being ground to bits by a combination of lightning assaults by Novorossia's "extraordinary force", futile counter-attacks against positions firmly consolidated by the "ordinary force" militia, and of course the ever-present artillery fire. There are already indications that the many components of the ramshackle Ukrainian military (regular army, National Guard, volunteer battalions, MVD, the Right Sector battalions which don't seem to recognize any authority, etc., etc., etc.) are starting to look askance at one another, suspecting each other of, if not treason, then at least not pulling their weight. So you have Samopomoga deputies accusing the National Guard of fleeing the battlefield in panic while the National Guard is accusing one of Samopomoga's "stars", the Donbass battalion commander "Semenchenko" of gross incompetence and cowardice. Which is not surprising. Each of these formations is somebody's private army. The more it gets thrashed on the Donbass, the less weight it will have in the inevitable battle for Kiev against other private armies.

The second possibility is that Novorossia's powers that be still don't want Poroshenko to fail, because they don't actually want to see a neo-Nazi regime in Kiev. It is for that reason that the Debaltsevo salient has not been transformed into a genuine pocket. If too many regular army formations are destroyed in that pocket, that will only strengthen the hand of the neo-Nazi volunteer battalions and render Poroshenko very vulnerable to overthrow. Therefore the VSU will be degraded to the point of not being able to pose another offensive threat to Novorossia (let's face it, the armored vehicles and artillery it has lost in January will not be easy to replace), but sufficiently powerful to keep the Right Sector and imitators in check. Perhaps there is still hope that, chastened by defeat, Poroshenko will get around to the task of wiping out the Right Sector and all the rest and then, his domestic right flank secure, will be able to finally negotiate a final settlement with Russia concerning both Crimea and the Donbass. This is the only plausible scenario for Ukraine to survive as a state, in any form at all.

Which scenario will come to pass? We may know as soon as the beginning of March.

http://censor.net.ua/"¦/strategiya_putina_i_yanvarskoe_nastu"¦

Russia should think like Peter the Great and open up to Europe, rather than building walls, real and in peoples minds.

Russia is building walls?
When are you guys going to grow and take responsibility for your own actions?

When Putin initially came to power, he was very friendly towards Europe. He even said Russia may join EU in the near future.

But you guys got greedy. You wanted Russia to yield it's sovereignty and become a mere amerikan vassal.

Then you completely scared off russia with ukraine.

This of course works best for USA, coz euros will have to continue giving regular BJs to amerikis :thumb:

Why should Asians spill blood for NATO's greed?

Russia is not a wimp like european nations, who run for cover under amerika's arse.

Russia can sort out the issue by itself.

Let the euros fight it out and enjoy the fruits.

My only complaint is not enough West ukropians are dying.

I mean, novoriussians are dying en masse, to achieve parity the war must be taken to W. ukr so they can also get a taste. :thumb:

Russia will salvage the best out of ukraine in this crisis that has been thrust upon russia by the US and its lapdogs. :thumb:

So you went from Global players to whiners in 70 years...

Apart from this, Indian participation in the Allied campaign remained strong. The financial, industrial and military assistance of India formed a crucial component of the British campaign against Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan.[3] India's strategic location at the tip of the Indian Ocean, its massive production of armaments, and its huge armed forces played a decisive role in halting the progress of Imperial Japan in the South-East Asian theatre.[4] The Indian Army during World War II was one of the largest Allied forces contingents which took part in the North and East African Campaign, Western Desert Campaign and the Italian Campaign. At the height of the World War, more than 2.5 million Indian troops were fighting Axis forces around the globe.[5] After the end of the World War, India emerged as the world's fourth largest industrial power and its increased political, economic and military influence paved the way for its independence from the United Kingdom in 1947

Did you read the article @jouni ?

This is why people should never believe Western media sources. In this case Moscow Times, a Finnish front organization.

First of all, looking at the headline will tell you this article is far away from reality, as most russians instinctively know amerikan globalists are behind this.

Second the article says
When asked to describe in a few words what is currently happening in Ukraine, 50 percent said "civil war." Seventeen percent said "genocide, the killing of civilians, and terror," while another 17 percent said "anarchy, lawlessness, and banditry." Meanwhile, 3 percent said fascism, a significant reduction from the 7 percent who responded as such in October.
Yeah that's right. 3 % said fascism, not Western meddling.

Country flag

At the height of the World War, more than 2.5 million Indian troops were fighting Axis forces around the globe.[5] After the end of the World War, India emerged as the world's fourth largest industrial power and its increased political, economic and military influence paved the way for its independence from the United Kingdom in 1947
As usual, can not answer the question, so immediately bring India in.

Grow up, kid jouni.

Question for you Einstein: If the Americans and Europeans are all-out against Russia then why is it that until now they have not sanctioned Putin?
You are simply crazy. What the hell is your question about?? What do you mean by "sanctioned Putin".

Did you read the article @jouni ?

This is why people should never believe Western media sources. In this case Moscow Times, a Finnish front organization.

First of all, looking at the headline will tell you this article is far away from reality, as most russians instinctively know amerikan globalists are behind this.

Second the article says

Yeah that's right. 3 % said fascism, not Western meddling.
The message is clear, Russians are on the map better than some...

"Here comes your end, the yellow-blue Nazi country."

February 2, 2015
Dmitry Dzygovbrodsky, Russian-Ukrainian blogger
Translated by Kristina Rus

United Ukraine: Here comes your end, the yellow-blue Nazi country

"Russia has expressed a desire to receive back the loan of $3 billion given to Ukraine in 2013 under President Yanukovych. It is reported by Deutsche Wirtschafts Nachrichten with reference to the head of the presidential administration of Russia, Sergey Ivanov.

http://russian.rt.com/.../.../DWN-Rossiya-potrebovala-ot-Ukraini (link not working)

The official stressed that Ukraine owes Russian banks a much larger sum - $25 billion.

The loan contract states that the state debt should not exceed 60 percent of GDP. Otherwise, Moscow has the right to demand immediate repayment.

According to Deutsche Wirtschafts Nachrichten, by the end of 2014, the state debt of Ukraine amounted to 102.2 percent of GDP. Experts predict that in 2015 he will grow up to 106.4%."

Why use so many words?

When there is one word.

Default.

Translators Note:

This $3 billion was not included in the Ukrainian budget for 2015.

Yarosh explains his "Parallel General Staff" idea

2/2/2015

The Parallel Ukrainian General Staff (Yarosh's Clarifications)

By Yurasumy

Translated from Russian by J.Hawk

I love it when the Nazis blab something out without thinking, then try to explain themselves. Because the explanations contain a lot of new and interesting information. Especially when the Nazi in question is Dmitry Yarosh. A naïve and dumb executor of someone else's (Kolomoysky's) will. Now I understand what Korban meant when he said that he bringing up his "charges", and does not fight against them:

"We did not talk about a parallel general staff. We talked about a certain operational HQ to coordinate the activities of mainly the volunteer formations. There are 40 such battalions at the front. There is a need for operational coordination and exchange of intelligence data among them. Especially since the volunteer movement is being actively discredited. This is very important to us," said the deputy.

Yarosh explained that the alternative HQ will collaborate with the UAF GenStaff. "Battalion commanders came to visit me at the hospital, we had a certain discussion. We decided to create an institution that would help us carry out combat operations. It would also be of assistance to the General Staff. Therefore, I repeat, we are not in favor of warlordism of any sort."

A classic non-denial"¦intended for the dense (similar to Yarosh himself). Let's figure out what he is actually proposing. Here are the main points.

No.1. Which volunteer battalions are not included in MVD and UAF? He could only mean the Right Sector battalions. Naturally, their operations ought to be coordinated. But not by GenStaff. Which means he is not talking about them (there aren't forth of them, either). Especially since Yarosh makes it clear that"¦

No. 2. FORTY battalions. So he is talking about the territorial battalions which, in his view ought to exchange intel data and coordinate their operations. Sounds kinda logical. Except"¦

No. 3. Yarosh may not know that TerrBats have long been included in the line brigades, which means they are fully subordinate to their brigade commanders, sector commanders, and ultimately the General Staff. If he doesn't know, he ought to know that there is such a concept as a military secret, and if those secrets will be known 40 battalions, each with its own Facebook page, it will be like a sieve. I also seriously doubt that the brigade or sector commander will be happy to see the commander of some 34th TerrBat confer not with him but with his "buddies" (with whom he would share operational information).

No. 4. But Yarosh said something very important even as he was trying to deceive (he's not Korban, after all). He confirmed the initial assumption that what is being created is precisely a parallel structure to the UAF GenStaff, whose task will be to take over the control over some or all of the UAF if necessary. All of this is part of the coup preparation, and Poroshenko's unwillingness to fire Muzhenko does not seem accidental.

P.S. I have not changed my opinion. Yarosh yet again confirmed by guess that there's much more to the story. One should not get overly focused on battalion commanders, vodka glasses in hand, coming up with schemes in a hospital room.

P.P.S. If Yarosh knew how to hold his tongue, Korban would not have to "bring him up" so often. But perhaps this is why he is so valuable: "Dumb and talkative."

Translator's Note: Given this and other articles, it's becoming clear the intra-junta battlelines are being drawn. It's Kolomoysky—Turchinov—Yarosh—Volunteer battalions, against Poroshenko—Muzhenko—National Guard and UAF. Poroshenko seems like the weaker side, which may be why Novorossia forces do not wish to go over on the offensive, because a serious military setback for the UAF would almost certainly bring down Poroshenko.

Some aspects of YuraSumy's analysis are arguable. Is Yarosh merely a simpleton following orders? A lot of people thought that way about Hitler, back in the day, which meant he could be controlled because he was too dumb to become an independent political actor. But if it's Yarosh who has the operational control over the TerrBats (plus his own Right Sector)"¦then who, exactly, can stop him, if the UAF and the National Guard are somehow neutralized? Nobody. He may be simply biding his time for now, playing the idiot for as long as it is useful, in order to lull his co-conspirators into a sense of complacency.

Even his "loose lips" moment, which YuraSumy interprets as an indication of his stupidity, could have been a coldly calculated move. Yarosh must be perfectly aware that Muzhenko is incompetent and therefore highly unpopular among the junior military commanders. To use military parlance, he's running this idea of his own GenStaff up the flagpole to see who will salute. He wants to know which line UAF commanders he can count on when the chips are down. As to those he can't count on, let's not forget that the embedding of the TerrBats into regular brigades is reminiscent of the way the Camicia Nere (Blackshirt) units were embedded into the regular Italian Army during the Mussolini era. While their combat effectiveness was minimal, they could be counted on keeping the soldiers in line, or to arrest the commanders if need be. This means the TerrBats embedded in the brigades carry out a "decapitating strike" against its own military leadership. When the parallel GenStaff gives the order to do so. Now, it's entirely possible that Yarosh would not do it on his own, but rather in coordination with other members of the anti-Poroshenko coalition, but that does not mean he will not use his control over the TerrBats against his own erstwhile allies.

1/31/2015

Update by "Fomich", Artillery Chief of Staff, 2ndLPR Army Brigade

Translated from Russian by J.Hawk

"The militia has fully encircled Debaltsevo. Road to Artemovsk is under Novorossia control. It is impossible to travel on it, we are about to put up roadblocks. Ukrainian forces will attempt to break out, but they have relatively few forces left, they have problems with ammunition and food. The annihilation of the Debaltsevo pocket will occur in the near future."
