China shows off its horsepower: 50 Chinese soldiers enter Chumar on horseback and stake claim to it

Less than a month after last incursion, 50 Chinese soldiers enter Chumar sector in Ladakh on horseback and stake claim to it; go back after banner drill.

The Chinese are wasting no time horsing around. Around a month after their last reported land incursion on June 17, around 50 soldiers of China's People's Liberation Army (PLA), on horses and ponies, intruded into the Indian territory of Chumar near Daulat Beg Oldie in Ladakh and staked claim to it.

Sources claim that the Chinese troops began their incursion into the Chumar area on the evening of July 16 and stayed within the Indian side till the next morning.

Army sources confirm the incursion, saying Indian troops intercepted the PLA patrol in Chumar and after the usual banner drill between the two sides, the Chinese went back into their territory.

But, sources say, tensions ran high. The PLA troops reportedly told the Indian soldiers to vacate the area, claiming that they were on Chinese territory.

The incursion comes soon after two of China's helicopters violated the Indian air space on July 11 in Chumar sector.

It was the same area in the Leh-Ladakh sector that Chinese troops had intruded into on June 17 and threatened the locals in Hindi. They even broke some surveillance cameras that the Indian army had installed in the area.

Chumar, about 300km from Leh, has always been a sore point for the Chinese troops as this is the only area along the border where they do not have any direct access to the line of actual control.

The latest incursion took place on the day India gave its nod to the creation of a 50,000-personnel strong Mountain Strike Corps along the border.

The frequency of such incursions increased around the time defence minister AK Antony visited China earlier this month.

If you read my posts during the Depsang incident, this is precisely what I wrote that these incursions will now increase in frequency and magnitude. The chinese are making war preparations while our italian waitress and her gang is busy looting India. This kind of incursions are done for acclimatisation of troops and for terrain mapping activities besides gauging the response time and effectiveness of an enemy. Such activities are done as part of war preparations.
I am pretty sure that while chinese are creating this ruckus in Ladakh, they are up to something very sinister in Arunachal and Sikkim. If you remember their intrusion in to Bhutan, the clear picture emerges. The target is Siachin isolation and Siliguri bottle neck. Our NTRO and ISRO must put very high survillence of these areas.

We must remember that right from the days of Nehru, the civilian leadership in India has been scared of Indian Armed forces. It is for this reason that we have NSA who has never ever even handled a gun or has no knowledge of strategic affairs to advise these dhoti clad cowards. We will do a great disservice to our nation and may lose Ladakh and AP to China if we do not show our strength to china. I fail to understand what stops us from moving our reguler forces up and undertaking aggressive patrolling in China occupied disputed areas. Tit-for-Tat is what we shud do and teach these chinese a lesson from their own books plus a few more from our own books.
In AP area we have a dominating position and very strong deployment. We are not that strong in Ladakh but we can't afford to lose any ground in Ladakh as it will directly threaten our forces in Siachin. We must reinforce our forces in Ladakh and build strong counter offensive capabilities in AP to take over Lhasa in a lightening strike as a counter to Chinese game in Ladakh. They are now trying to fight the battle for PA in Siachin. Similarly, we have an agreement with Bhutan, let us deploy more troops there to support our forces in Tawang area and to blunt any chinese move to threaten siliguri corridor. We must also activate our Tibettan frnds in Tibet for scorthed earth games to delay forward movement of chinese PLA.

The Indian borders right from the days of Lord Parshuram have the Brahmaputa river to the north. Lhasa is to the north of this river. This river belongs to us and indian armed forces must ensure that the northern bank of this river becomes our border with China. If chinese quote history for their claims, let us teach them real history.

wonder who are the real puppet masters pulling the strings behind the scenes... and yes, i`m referring to PRC & GoI as the puppet. It seems unusually co-incidental that a hawkish govt. takes stage in PRC & most likely in India (NaMo) but more due to the almost willful inefficiency and abdication of responsibility by the Congr, while Pak seems to be making overtures for peace via Nawaz Sharif (who is a right sight less hawkish than any military dictator from the TSPA). The patterns emerge clearer

Looks like good time to test 5-10 thermo nukes.
Nuking your own country to make a point, all the while pissing off the international community and putting Obama in a tight spot while he tries to help you. Genius move...

There is a saying that "Do not wrestle with a pig, it will only make you dirty" so I do not think that India need to respond one on one to such incidents immediately for each of those repeated Chinese incursions, nor it is required to arrest those Chinese solders, Chine wants to escalate situation at the border and thereby force India to do a hasty disproportionate reaction.

It is understood that China is uncomfortable with better border infrastructure on the Indian side with each passing years and wants some sort of arrangements to stop those roads & Advance landing strips coming up in the Indian side, these repeated incursion is to send a message to India for a such arrangements and wants to test Indian patience.

India needs to be very calm and need to increase more aggressive patrolling and send out well planned out mission out across into TIBET crossing LAC there by sending a similar message to China that the border is drawn with a thick line.

China's discomfort in better infrastructure is showing in the Chummar sector [not sure of its spealling] is very evident and clear. India need to fast track infrastructure in the TIBET border and increase the boot count at the mountain immediately.

I Think increasing military presence in Taiwan and Vietnam makes the clear hit back for this continuous incursion

Man, the Chinese also played same game with Vietnam, short border war in 1979, and 1984 to 1991. Then ceasefire, and high and advantageous territory was ceded to China.

The Leadership doesn't inspire much confidence.
