To put things into perspective, even 150 C919s a year would not come close to providing what China needs for single-aisles like C919 for next 20 years. Twenty years of 150 C919s per year will not be even half of the projected market in China.

But for COMAC getting 40% of just the Chinese market alone would establish it as the third largest civilian aircraft manufacturer in the world by a wide margin. Who knows, maybe it'll get to 300 or 400 planes a year at some point and grab the entire domestic market!

Just getting started is so important. Without that, you can't even dream :D

By 2041:
China will be the largest market for new aircraft deliveries. The Chinese aviation market will receive 9,284 jetliners, including 958 regional jets, 6,288 single-aisle jets, and 2,038 dual-aisle jets.

Just by supplying its home market, COMAC will become the third largest aircraft manufacturer in the world. This is why it us important to develop the ARJ-21 and C919 despite all the hardships and why CR929 is important too. Europe subsidized Airbus, Cjiba will do the same for COMAC.

COMAC should surpass Embraer as the 3rd largest airliner maker in the coming years

Ricardo Meier

Chinese manufacturer intends to assemble at least 200 passenger jets a year by 2028, about twice as much as the Brazilian planemaker

...

But what guarantees that the Chinese manufacturer can surpass Embraer in annual production volume? The answer is the plan to build 150 C919s annually within five years.

Together with the ARJ21 regional jet, which already has two active assembly lines with a capacity of assembly 50 planes per year, COMAC will therefore be able to deliver 200 jets annually by 2028.

It is a far cry from Boeing and Airbus, but practically twice the best delivery times for Embraer commercial aircraft. In 2018, for example, the Brazilian company delivered 90 airliners, while last year it must have delivered around 54 jets, according to data collected by Air Data News.

In 2022, COMAC had about 33 aircraft delivered, 32 of which were ARJ21s and a C919, the first of the model, received by China Eastern Airlines.

...

Guaranteed backlog
According to Zhang Yujin, director general of COMAC, there are 1,200 orders for the C919, which has a passenger capacity similar to the Airbus A320neo and the Boeing 737 MAX 8.

Certainly, the work of the Chinese company will be much easier than that of Embraer, which needs to negotiate with each plane sold, often facing the strength of Airbus with the A220.

COMAC, in turn, does not need to convince any potential customer to take the ARJ21 and C919, as this is a political determination of China.

...

It remains to be seen whether the two Chinese aircraft will fulfill their roles in terms of reliability, availability and performance. If they justified the high investment received, then perhaps the ARJ21 and C919 could show some ambition outside of China.

China’s home-grown C919 could break Airbus, Boeing duopoly with ‘brave step into foreign markets’
  • China’s C919 home-grown narrow-body passenger jet was delivered to China Eastern Airlines in December after more than 14 years of development
  • It was built to compete with Boeing’s 737 and Airbus’ A320, and a Mercator Institute for China Studies report suggests its impact could spread beyond its home market

China’s home-grown narrow-body passenger jet could break the duopoly of Boeing and Airbus in its home market and beyond despite its reliance of foreign parts, according to a new report by a Berlin-based think tank.

The Mercator Institute for China Studies (Merics) argued that the size of China’s aviation market, strong industrial policy and a sector dominated by state-owned companies gives the C919 an edge to advance the country’s “strategic objectives” in aviation.

Commendable if true. Though who knows...
I personally am not going to visit China to find out - and risk being thrown into a gulag.

Why the murderous repression of residents of Tibet, Xingjiang, Inner Mongolia ?
Why organ harvesting and murder of the same people, plus Falun Gong

Do read the Nine commentaries of the communist party on Epoch times
and would love to hear your comments on the same.

Doesn't seem you really want a discussion when you start off with the worst demonization propaganda.

Quoting Epoch Times on China is the same as asking Pakistan on their view of Kashmir but I'm sure you know that :D

Kashgar is a Uighur majority town ;)

You should visit Tibet, they want you to visit and try living there for a bit!

Fly the ARJ-21 to Inner Mongolia and visit Ordos :)

History of the Y-10! It was designed and built in the 1970s and the flying prototype (out of three) actually flew to multiple cities in its test runs before being canceled during the height of China's integration with the West in the 1980s:

It remains an important part of Chinese aeronautics history. The Y-10 and its WS-8 engine are still inspirations.

Never Give Up!

Did you know that the CJ1000 turbofan for the C919 is an official item in the latest Five Year Plan? Projects under Five Year Plans never fail because resources will be given to them as strategic goals until they succeed ;)

China outlines push to develop domestic engine for C919 jet in five-year plan
By Reuters Staff

BEIJING (Reuters) - China will push forward with the development of CJ1000, a turbofan jet engine designed to power the homemade C919 narrowbody aircraft, the government said on Friday in its development plan for the 2021-2025 period.

It also aims to achieve breakthrough in engine technology for widebody jets, the government said.

Think Airbus will be the dominant supplier in China's aviation market until COMAC catches up in capacity. Boeing will get some orders but Airbus is becoming an "indigenous" company like Apple, Mercedes Benz or Tesla where everything they sell in China are made by Chinese factories who also export large quantities from the same plants in China:
