It's the end of an era (2010~2020).

Nowadays destroyers are much larger then WWII Cruisers.

INS Visakhapatnam is larger than most light cruisers of WWII, and it's a DESTROYER.

USS Zumwalt is larger than most heavy cruisers in WWII, and larger than some of the WWII Battlecruiser, and it's also a DESTROYER.

So type 055 is also a type of destroyer.

the 3rd Type055 DDG which is also the first manufactured by Dalian shipyard has also arrived in the South Sea Fleet port as one of the escorts of CV-17/Shandong CVBG. ...the Pennant No hasn't been painted yet coz the South Sea Fleet has such a tradition to paint the number at the vessel's home port, not in the shipyard....
the date for commission ceremony might be very close...errrr. on Dec 26th?

Intimidation is half the battle.

Obviously none of us are capable enough to judge the operational characteristics or efficiency/reliability of the aforementioned ships, but it does show a resolve to accelerate spending resources on the navy and also match it up with equally accelerated production times.

the 3rd Type055 DDG which is also the first manufactured by Dalian shipyard has also arrived in the South Sea Fleet port as one of the escorts of CV-17/Shandong CVBG. ...the Pennant No hasn't been painted yet coz the South Sea Fleet has such a tradition to paint the number at the vessel's home port, not in the shipyard....
the date for commission ceremony might be very close...errrr. on Dec 26th?
