Do you think USA cares about paying it back?? A war would be a good way to get rid of the debt.
Yes, America will payback with B-2's and Night Hawks escorted by F-22 swooping over hu-jintou's office building. I think China is taking the wise step itself by provoking and daring USA to bring the fight to it's door steps. Eventually North Korea will be attacked and they will stare China right in there half opened eyes. Republicans are soon to return again and let's see how chines behave until then. It's like saying " AA BEL MUJHAY MARR". TEXANS would love to make china's dream come true of having a real war of the 21th century after 20th cen WW2

Man, No.2 is here

the Pacific gets rough these days. And clearly that's a 'coincidence'

Opinion & analysis Russian Navy participates in Vostok-2010 military exercises

Warships from three Russian fleets ply the Sea of Japan
The Russian Navy's Northern, Black Sea and Pacific fleets are currently involved in the Vostok-2010 large-scale military exercises in Siberia and the country's Far East.

The exercises involve several dozen warships and support ships. Moreover, the Northern and Black Sea fleets have contributed their largest and most powerful warships - the Pyotr Veliky (Peter the Great) and Moskva guided missile cruisers, respectively.

Naval forces are carrying out simulated combat missions, including anti-submarine warfare (ASW), attacks on warships, repelling a simulated amphibious landing and supporting its own amphibious-landing operation aimed at seizing an enemy beachhead.

The Navy is also practicing cooperation with Air Force units to repel simulated air strikes.

The Vostok-2010 military exercises differ from previous exercises in that they prioritized humanitarian and peacekeeping missions.

The Navy has always ranked among the most expensive and hi-tech branches of the military. Moreover, it sometimes takes decades to build up large battle-worthy naval formations - the longest cycle of any branch.

Mistakes in naval development are extremely expensive, because it can take the lifespan of one or two generations to correct them.

What role will the Russian Navy play in the restructured Armed Forces? How will the Navy look after these extensive military reforms are complete?

Although top political and military leaders say the Navy plays an important role in Russia's Armed Forces, it is obvious that the amount of warship construction and deadlines for projects directly depend on the country's economic potential.

Considering the high cost of building capital warships, their numbers are likely to be limited in the next few decades. Russia will have to strengthen its Navy in some other way if it hopes to be able to deal with the superior forces of a potential enemy.

The prompt re-deployment of capital warships from one remote theater of war to another, called inter-theater maneuvers, is becoming a key element of this strategy. These maneuvers are one element of the Vostok-2010 exercises.

By combining the potential of a few hard-hitting weapons systems, such re-deployment can expand task-force potential many times over. This time, the Navy has established a unit comprising two guided missile cruisers and three anti-submarine warfare ships. Objectively speaking, the Pyotr Veliky and Moskva cruisers wield extremely powerful air-defense weaponry matching the capabilities of U.S. Navy and Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force warships equipped with Aegis combat systems.

Both Russian cruisers have unprecedented strike potential and are equipped with heavy supersonic cruise missiles, a trademark of the Soviet/Russian Navy.

The Pacific Fleet's Varyag guided missile cruiser, now returning from a trip to the United States, could also be included in this unit, enhancing its potential still further. By cooperating with other Pacific Fleet elements and air force planes, the unit could engage even the most formidable adversary.

It is hardly surprising that such exercises are conducted on the Pacific theater of war, as this region is and will remain one of the most conflict-prone areas for Russia in the next 20-30 years.

Russian-Japanese disagreements over the disputed South Kuril archipelago, called the "Northern Territories" by Tokyo, and Russia's proximity to a powerful China prompt Moscow to find new ways to defend its Far East possessions in the event of a hypothetical conflict.

What will the Navy look like after most of the aging Soviet-era ships are decommissioned within the next 15-20 years?

The state rearmament program for 2011-2020, which is currently under development, stipulates at least 13 trillion rubles ($418 billion) worth of federal-budget funding. If adopted, the program will not facilitate the Navy's large-scale modernization.

In that case, a joint military/civilian shipbuilding program will make it possible to expand the Navy. Although the program's allocations remain unclear, senior defense-industry officials say they will meet minimal naval requirements.

Such requirements are currently as follows: The Navy should be able to defend Russia's coastline from sea attacks, facilitate the operation of the Navy's strategic nuclear forces, support ground-force operations in maritime regions and be able to conduct limited operations in remote sectors of the global ocean.

For these purposes, the Navy should receive warships of all the main classes, including corvettes and destroyers. It should be noted that modern destroyers pack the same devastating punch as guided missile cruisers.

Moreover, the Navy should have large submarine and aircraft formations, as well as coastal-defense and marine units. Analysts say at least 60 main-class ships, including submarines of all classes, corvettes, destroyers and other capital warships, not to mention speed boats and support ships, should be built within the next 20 years.

Under a more optimistic scenario, the Navy would receive even more ships, including aircraft carriers. The experience of the world's leading navies shows that carrier-borne planes and helicopters considerably expand the potential of task forces, turning the Navy into a truly flexible, multi-role and multi-faceted service capable of accomplishing even the most difficult combat missions.

If the Pacific Fleet received just one aircraft carrier with 30-40 warplanes onboard, it would be able to accomplish far more objectives together with available navy elements in case of a hypothetical conflict over the Kuril archipelago and southern Sakhalin.

Moreover, it would be able to more effectively conduct detached operations in remote parts of the global ocean. A combined force consisting of an aircraft carrier, other warships and Mistral-class amphibious assault ships could accomplish just about any objective, including the disengagement of belligerents on a coastal theater of war and engaging the Navy of a theoretical enemy.

No matter how expensive the Navy, weapons systems capable of repelling naval strikes would cost even more.

The opinions expressed in this article are the author's and do not necessarily represent those of RIA Novosti.

Gentlemen..a cut-a-way of an Ohio class SSGN...Enjoy!

A LOT of Chinese infrastructure could be disabled or destroyed back to the stone age with just ONE of these babies...dams, power-stations, bridges, chopstick warehouses.....the list is quite large. Welcome to the non-nuclear proliferation world.

News:S.Korea to stage joint naval drill with US despite China protest

SEOUL: South Korea said Friday it would stage a naval exercise with the United States in the Yellow Sea to deter North Korean "provocation", despite strong protests from China about the drill.

"The date and methods have not yet been decided but the South Korea-US joint military exercise will be carried out," said defence ministry spokesman Won Tae-Jae.

"The joint exercise in the Yellow Sea is being planned as North Korea carried out an illegal provocation, the sinking of the Cheonan."

The South, citing the findings of a multinational investigation, accuses the North of torpedoing the warship in March with the loss of 46 lives. The North angrily denies responsibility.

China warned the United States and South Korea Thursday against holding the war games near its waters, and urged them not to worsen tensions with its ally North Korea.

"China has expressed its serious concerns with relevant parties," said foreign ministry spokesman Qin Gang in Beijing.

"We are firmly opposed to foreign military vessels engaging in activities that undermine China's security interests in the Yellow Sea or waters close to China."

The drill was originally set for last month but was delayed until the United Nations Security Council wrapped up discussions on the sinking.

The South announced its own non-military reprisals against the North, including a partial trade ban, and also urged the Security Council to censure Pyongyang.

Permanent council members China and Russia have not, however, publicly accused the North of being to blame for the sinking.

According to a draft statement set to be adopted Friday US time, the council will condemn the attack which led to the sinking but stop short of directly blaming the North.

The draft, approved by all five permanent members, takes note of North Korea's denials of involvement. But it expresses "deep concern" at the findings of the multinational probe implicating the North.

It "underscores the importance of preventing such further attacks or hostilities against the ROK (South Korea)", while praising Seoul for its restraint in the months following the attack.

Seoul's foreign ministry could not immediately be reached for comment on the draft. But a ministry official quoted by Yonhap news agency expressed satisfaction.

In its current form the statement would send "a clear and stern" message to North Korea, the unidentified official said.

"It noted the result of the investigation that held North Korea responsible and expressed deep concern over that. So, the council essentially condemned North Korea." - AFP/jm

does the US owe China a trillion dollars?
In Gujarat, its considered that a smart businessman is the one who does business with others' money. US is doing the same.
We have some Marwari communities who say that the status of a man in their community is determined by how many people he has tanked. US wont take too long to tank China.

US & China play 'chicken' in the Yellow Sea
A first rate crisis is brewing in and around the Korean Peninsula that may well come to a head this week. The escalation of military tensions in the Yellow Sea that separates the Korean Peninsula from the Chinese mainland is likely to take two pathways - one originating in Pyongyang and the other in Beijing - or both.
According to reports from Beijing on Monday, the Chinese People's Liberation Army plans to conduct live ammunition exercises during June 30 to July 5 in roughly the period when US and South Korea will be conducting their joint anti-submarine exercises.
http://www.indianexpress.com/news/US...low-Sea/640498

Would firing live artillery into the sea the disrupt the ASW exercise?
Hell in the end it actually might make it a better exercise, thanks China.

That is the very response i have expected from an honest and blunt Indian.

After living in the shadow of China for so many years, Indians are desperate to outcompete and outshine China, unfortunately India is not capable of doing that by herself and finally you realize that. Now you pin your hope on US, hoping US will destroy China for you, hoping China will go through some kind of self-destruction, then India will fulfill her dream of surpassing China.

Couting on US to work for you? Well, It is very pathetic of you to fantasize like that.

Some little tips for you. Instead of engaging in such ridiculous and unhealthy mental masturbation as US nuking China to stone age day by day, do some actual job for your country, or get a real life, which will be good for both India and your health.

Well you still dont understand it right. As long as you are engaged in beating the US we have better jobs like country building and infrastructure development, investment in Science and tech, alleviating people from poverty and all. We dont need US to nuke you....all we need US to do is have a cold war with you. We dont want you to self-destruct or anything, we just need you not to bother us and engage in a competition with us. And the US is doing their job well by propping us up against you. We, unlike Pakistanis use this oppurtunity to make ourselves a better country. And India was never under the Chinese shadow...that is your wet dream. Stop shagging your brain and get back to reality. We never wanted to surpass anyone..all we need is economical development and not be bothered by the people around us. We both walk two different paths and we both have a different ideology.

And trust me...I am doing my part for the country...My life is as real as it gets.

Nevertheless, it is the same. You count on US to hold China back rather than doing it by yourself because neither India has the ability to contain China, nor has the ability to surpass China if China is not disturbed by US. And that thought is pathetic.

Do not blame China for India's underdevelopment, competition between countres like China and India is expected and normal. Your wish that US is going to keep China from competing with India only proves your lack of competition spirit and your fear of competition.

And India was never under the Chinese shadow...that is your wet dream. Stop shagging your brain and get back to reality. We never wanted to surpass anyone..all we need is economical development and not be bothered by the people around us.
Bother you? Correlation between China and India is inevitable in an era of globalization as long as we are living in this same planet which is called earth.

Nimo, you dont get it. If the dirty work can be done by someone else why would India spend its energy on it?
By the same token, China wants to tie India down and so uses Pakistan for it by arming it with nukes and missiles. Make no mistake, even the CCP doesnt want war with India as it knows India is more than capable of defending itself. Any war will be costly for both sides and neither wants to take that risk. So stop ranting about India not able to take care of itself.

I think the exact way to say it should be, US is doing something that India has been dreaming to do but didn't do because of lack of ability. That is why we are seeing all the fuss around here, Indian people are more anxious than Americans to see a conflict to happen between China and US. And that is strange and funny, it reminds me of a Chinese saying "皇帝不急太监急", literally meaning the eunuches are so anxious while the Emperor is taking his time, which is always used to describe a situation when the watcher is more anxious than the people who is actually involved in the issue.

By the same token, China wants to tie India down and so uses Pakistan for it by arming it with nukes and missiles.
Do not flatter yourself, China's assistance to Pakistan may cause some kind of indirect threat to India's security given the hostility between you two. But India has never been the prime factors that lead to the coorperation between China and Pakistan, at least not for China.

Make no mistake, even the CCP doesnt want war with India as it knows India is more than capable of defending itself. Any war will be costly for both sides and neither wants to take that risk. So stop ranting about India not able to take care of itself.
Agreed, a war between us is the last thing i want to see, too costly. Moreover, we don't need to wage a war to stop India, while India needs to see a war between China and US to stop China.

And make no mistake here, US is doing this for the interests of its own, not because India asks US to do so. You should feel lucky that US can do something like this which incidentally is also in the interests of India.

Bother you? Correlation between China and India is inevitable in an era of globalization as long as we are living in this same planet which is called earth.
Why should we do something that hurts ourselves and others? India has a lot of troubles inside which must be solved before we step out into the world. That is what we are doing. Just like China is propping up Pakistan against us and the Pakistani army is using you people to enhance their defence preparedness against us. We don't need to do that to vietnam or Taiwan as US is already doing it.

We take this situation as our advantage as long as these countries are paranoiac about you you need to remain cautious on those fronts too. This helps us draw you to the negotiating table. Our paths will cross but we arent prepared for it yet. The time we cross it we need to be powerful enough to hold our own at that time.

We dont need to compete. What is the reason to prove ourselves? India would not be like it is today if it had been just a country. India is an ideology...look at it this way and it would make you understand the ground situation more. All we need is development and our politicians dont ask votes to us saying they will make the country a global phenomenon. All they say is, Basic amenities and employment opportunities will be provided.

Well You have a lot to understand about India and the way it functions. Things are different here mate.

We have deviated far off topic and can you please explain us how the Chinese 'General' plans to sink a US aircraft carrier battle group?

No it wasnt. Mao was far more farsighted and strategically capable than Nehru. This drove you towards Pakistan and later towards US.

Well lets analyse the Rhetoric that you are squabbling about. In international relations things like these are bound to happen. Here US and Indian interests coincides and hence we are working together. Japanese have also joined the band-wagon. You need Pakistan to acceess the mineral rich CAR. And the KKH is your lifeline for exploiting them and You needed a client state who can measure and weigh the Indian forces. India and the KKH has been your prime factor and driving spirit behind the Sino-Pak bhai bhai syndrome.

And we have veered far off topic....
