U do realize how Russia teased India in http://defenceforumindia.com/forum/...kramaditya-adm-gorshkov-aircraft-carrier.html ?

Russians want another $700 mn for Gorshkov - Indian Express Delay, accident, delay, more money, delay...

Strategic interests? Shut off at India's request?:fishing:
Indian and Russian relationship are in separable in times to come"¦ Russia has been a trusted friend to India for last 50 years and will continue to be so"¦ I see a closer co operation between the two in Nuclear & Aerospace sector apart from Defense"¦

There were issues between the two brothers, we will resolve them with the spirit of accommodations, GOD WILLING!!

You honestly think the IN's ASW capabilities are good enough to deal with wolfpacks of modern Russian subs operating out of Gwadar and Sri Lanka?
China will not dare to base its submarines in Gwadar or Sri Lanka... or else it will risk giving away its acoustic signatures to India...

A pipeline running through Pakistan?
Yes.

You seem to have missed out about the IPI pipeline.

You honestly think the IN's ASW capabilities are good enough to deal with wolfpacks of modern Russian subs operating out of Gwadar and Sri Lanka?
How many submarines has China got?

How many will they base in Gwadar and will Ceylon allow the Chinese to base submarines?

You must understand that Ceylon will not like to upset the US too much.

You do realize that the 8% and 4% can be ramped up quite dramatically if needed, right? Currently, Chinese pipelines and railroads to Russia and Kazakhstan stand at 20 and 25% utilization, respectively, and more infrastructure is in the planning stages.

As for land based protection for IOR shipping, Gwadar is much closer to IOR energy lanes than any of India's ports are. Even if China can't offload any oil there, China could certainly use it as a staging point for a heavy contingent of submarines - subs, that in a time of war, could be loosed to raid Indian shipping in the IOR at will.
The assumption is that Russia and Kazakhistan are vassal state which will jump to Chinese bidding and ramp up their exports to China would be too far fetched.

The oil has to come through the Straits of Hormuz. Haven't you seen my maps on pipelines, ports and oilfields?

Here they are once again.

When was the last time you heard of a Chinese Kilo on patrol? They are a none factor since they won't submit to the stipulation of overhauling them in Russia. They have torn two of them apart for reverse engineering.

Absolutely true!! The Chinese subs that have been picked up on SONAR by the USN and IN are their indigenous nuke subs, and they are said to be easy to detect(read easy to kill).

Given how much the French are pissing off Germany and the UK over Chinese solar panels, this is statement is more realistic than it looks
Right now Europe is more pissed off at Germany than the UK or France, because of the former hacking a resolution against China on the tariff row.

Their nuke subs are worthless, the noisiest power-plants ever created. Kilo is the quietest sub they have, but they can't operate them because they won't make the overhaul deal with Russia or get their techs trained. It is so many billions wasted, all they really got from it was to tear it apart.

Navy's newest submarines abandoned the project "Lada"

In the Main Staff of the Navy "News" reported on Wednesday that the testing program of the "Lada", from which 10 years ago was planned to begin the upgrade of non-nuclear submarine force, had to be cut.

PM Sharif has many beautiful ideas.

But he does not have the money.

His hopes can be fulfilled if China bankrolls Pakistan.

You could fit Gwadar port into one corner of Toulon navy base. Why is it so small?

It's worthwhile for China to fund Gwadar and the links. After completion Xinjiang and CAR can become as "coastal" as Zhejiang.

Bear in mind the Strait of Hormuz is a chokepoint not only for China, but also for such as India, Japan, Korea...

"If u hold their balls, u hold their minds" - Nixon

Also check the world's top 10 ports, most of them are in China. Chinese are good at building ports. So, rest assured Gwadar will be like this someday >>>

One's got to put a lot of money into changing the landscape.

You get what you pour in.

Small money, small project!

I am glad that Pakistan will once again have a Railway, even though it goes to China.

Kashgar would be an attractive destination for a certain type of Pakistanis! ;)

Brilliant idea but with falling Chinese economic growth rate, are you ready to fit the bill?? What happens when the indigenous peoples in that region starts blowing up the rails tracks??
Then what's the use of 3 trillion $$$ forex? Waiting for it to rot in treasury bonds?

Indigenous people? Haven't u ever heard of Deng's motto "Development is the answer to social problems"?

Also hope u watch a documentary by National Geograhpic or Dicovery Channel on how Yangshan Port was built out of small islands off the coast of Shanghai to a world class port >>>>
