UNCLOS tried to impose an involuntary arbitration proceeding on China. This is against the terms of UNCLOS itself. An arbitration process must be voluntary for it to become binding.
Hence, China has stated it will not participate in the UNCLOS case at the Hague.
Since China is one of the five permanent-wielding members of the UN Security Council, it has the power to veto any opinion by UNCLOS (which will occur on July 12, 2016).
In conclusion, UNCLOS is wasting everyone's time. China's Permanent Veto trumps UNCLOS.
