Egypt, SAC, FC-31 procurement and TOT deal
Published on December 16, 2022

The Egyptian Ministry of Military Production (MoMP) is reported to be close to finalizing a deal with the Chinese aircraft manufacturer Shenyang Aircraft Corporation (SAC) to procure the Shenyang FC-31
If Egypt is getting FC31 then the rumoured Saudi deal is probably on the cards too.

Abraham Accords or not, the US is not going to sell F35s to the Arab airforces.

Most likely and there are rumors of UAE as well. But like the JF-17 to Argentina, we'll see how they'll react to possible US pressure.

There are definite differences between these two FC-31 prototypes. We know one is the J-35 for the PLA Navy.

The question is what about the other one. The PLAAF is already accepting a lot of J-20s from ever expanding production lines (some say a capacity from 70 to 100 planes a year!) and all its new fighters are standardized on heavy engines not a medium one like the FC-31. The chances of the development going on for non-J-35 protype are most likely for an export version.

We all know Egypt fighter procurement is crazy, but I think this is a step too far.

They already operate F16s, Mig29, Rafale and Mirage 2000.

Why buy an aging dedicated fighter bomber? FC31 makes much more sense as its a new capability.

Maybe, they just need a good anti-ship platform with accessible missiles. Remember, their F-16s are not allowed AMRAAMs. Probably the same restrictions on AShMs which are even more strategic.

There is a reason to Egypt's madness on aircraft types (it has to do with restrictions from the US and West):

Work is well under way for the second half of the eight Type 39-derivative Hangor class! Keel laying for number five and steel cutting for number six in Karachi, Pakistan.

The first four of the class are nearing completion in China and should be delivered in 2023.

The Type 071E has received her name and pennant number from the Royal Thai Navy! At 21K tons, this should be the largest warship in ASEAN beating the Thai navy's 12K ton carrier Chakri Naruebet.

Didn't Nigeria purchase the JF-17 from Pakistan, not China?
strange purchase considering that Pakistani's don't even want "their own" JF-17 if they can get the J-10.

Nigeria's largest export markets....India (18%), USA (14%), Spain, France, Germany...
Those who buy from Nigeria (or even watch, over paid to manipulate an economy, Nigerians playing basketbhaal) fund and enhance the MIC of Pakistan.

Baldur's Gate, Throne of Bhaal rpg had an interesting magical katana put in the game. Hindoo's Doom. Wonder why creators chose that name?

All JF-17s including those for Nigeria and Myanmar are assembled in Pakistan. There are no lines for JF-17 at Chengdu which designed the aircraft. All available lines at CAC are for J-20 and J-10. In fact, J-10 lines will be moved to Guizhou --another Chinese manufacturer -- to allow more space for the J-20 ramp up.

JF-17 is a special case of a Chinese designed plane being assembled entirely in another country.

J-10CE is a different weight class from JF-17. The JF-17 are still being purchased by the PAF with the Block 3 being very highly anticipated!
