Kunal, can you give me info about Harop the next high tech radar killer from Israel? Does china too have any plan to buy these? And what is the status of Indian forces on UAV and UCAV because I think these unmanned machines may alter the whole story of a war.

Harop will be operational in mid 2011, PLAAF plan to produce a indigenous version of harpy which will be same as harop in terms of range and payload..

Indian Army use following UAV:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DRDO_Nishant
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IAI_Searcher
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IAI_Heron
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IAI_Harpy

I think IA will have to hold any major assault until indian forces weaken chinese air defense. That is we need to kill their air defense smartly with our troops and choppers equipped with enough missiles.
Indian Airforce major task is:

*Cut the supply lines of PLA..

*Air supperiorty

* CAS for ground troops

* SEAD mission to suppress enemy light and medium SAM and AAA protecting arty and command formations..

IAF cannot use all of his Aircraft in war with China, after knowing the fact that IA planned for two front War..
IAF cannot be pressurized, Also in the mean time Army top brass need to reconsider abt Army`s own CAS jets and turbo-props..

are you trying to say that indian army should have their own CAS fighters instead of depending on air force?

HQ-7B/FM-90 Crotale

The HQ-7 is a Chinese clone of the French Thales/Thomson CSF Crotale SAM. During the 1970s the French supplied samples of the Crotale which was promptly reverse engineered. The cloned Crotale has been built in two configurations, a high mobility variant for PLA Army units on a 4 x 4 cloned French Thomson-Hotchkiss P4R armoured vehicle, and a less mobile PLA-AF air field defence system, using either a trailer or a truck platform. Since then, derivative variants have emerged in the FM-90 series,A four round elevating tube launcher turret is used, mounting the Ku-band Automatic Command to Line Of Sight monopulse radar dish antenna. Export variants are the FM-80 and improved FM-90 with a FLIR tracker and longer ranging missiles. HQ-7/FM-80/90 batteries are typically supported by an acquisition radar system, the FM-90 usually on a new design indigenous 6 x 6 light armoured personnel carrier.

FM-90 Specifications (CNPMIEC)

Cruise Missile Target 300 m/s 30 - 6,000 m

Maximum Detection Range RCS=0.1 m 20 km

Maximum Tracking Range RCS=0.1 m 18 km

Reaction Time6.5 to 10.5 sec

Missile Maximum Velocity930 m/s

What about the Air defence systems North of the Himalayas?
I understand that its coastline defence is an overarching priority for China as almost all of its industrial complex and a large part of its population lives there or plans to live there in the near future. Therefore I expect that the air defence network China has along the LAC is not at par with the one shown in this picture.

Also, just how much integration has been achieved by these overlapping radar systems. I cannot believe they have all systems on the same network.

Chinese are relying on s400
min 6 battalion as per news they will get from Russia

So if they deploy it on their side of Himalayas then even Delhi and Agra would be under it's rang.

If we place same S-400 near Indian border we can achieve the same.
But they had lot of other ripoffs from S-300 and buk missile system why they are relying on S-400.
