As Molly puts it here, It has happened. China has officially entered the Pacific. Yesterday, the two countries confirmed the security agreement pact. Based on a report earlier by Palki Sharma Upadhayay (she was explaining it using the document downloaded), PLAN can move around, use their bases, and station troops in the Solomon Islands.
Here is the Tweet that unveiled the plans:
For those wondering what's the big deal, this is why it's a big deal. The Solomons sit between Australia & Fiji in the Pacific and allowing PLA in gives the Chinese access to a critical chokepoint. Meanwhile, Hawaii is about ~5,000Km from there - a convenient distance for warships and carriers, should the PLA choose to.
Australia is going to be pooping bricks soon. I hope they are ready with whatever they have. PLA that is close to Australia is ready to take them. The next CCP thing would be to pull a map out of its @$$ and claim Tasmania as a part of some imaginary dynasty.
