China, Pakistan to hold joint air force drill near PoK border | idrw.org

The Chinese and Pakistani air forces will hold a joint exercise next week in a region bordering Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The joint drill will be held during September 2-22 in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the Chinese Defence Ministry said on Thursday. The exercise, code-named Shaheen (Eagle)-2, is another cooperative project between the two air forces after the Shaheen-1 drill in Pakistan in March 2011, Defence Ministry spokesman Yang Yujun told a briefing for the local media.

The drill between the two close allies is being held ahead of an India-China military exercise planned for November. That exercise, codenamed Hand-in-Hand, is scheduled to be held in China's Chengdu Military Command area from November 4 to 14. India and China are expected to field about 150 troops each for the exercise, which is likely to focus on anti-terrorism manoeuvres. Meanwhile, Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli met with Gen Khalid Shameem Wynne, chairman of Pakistan's Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, today, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

Deepening strategic cooperation between China and Pakistan is in the fundamental interests of both countries and is also the common aspiration of the two peoples, Zhang said. Acknowledging new progress in trade, agriculture, technology and energy, Zhang said the two governments' long-term plan for a China-Pakistan economic corridor has given new momentum to bilateral ties.

He said he hoped both sides will seize opportunities to turn the advantages of bilateral political relations into more fruitful cooperation. Wynne said Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with China and regards it as the bedrock of its foreign policy. Islamabad is willing to strengthen cooperation with Beihing, including military cooperation, to protect their common interests, he added.

Chinese, Pakistani forces launch joint air drill called 'Shaheen (Eagle)-4'

The joint exercise called "Shaheen (Eagle)-4" is part of a series of military exchange programmes between the two air forces, Shen said, adding that China's air force was willing to expand the scope of cooperation with various countries.

The first such drill was held in Pakistan in March 2011, the second in China's western Xinjiang Uygur region in September 2013.

The third was held in Pakistan's Punjab province in May 2014.

What about indo-isreali excercise at srinagar base?
That's a great idea. But that will derail this session of talks with pakis. Let's wait till these talks get derailed, then India should think about it.

"This is my first visit, but the ships of Pakistan Navy have been visiting China regularly, we hope to do that in the future as well...We have over 600 personnels coming over here to interact with Chinese friends. It's a great opportunity that we meet and learn from our Chinese friends" Cdre Bilal Abdul Nasir Si, commander of 25th Destroyer Squadron, Pakistan Navy, said.

The oil tanker and frigate will remain open for two days to public visitors, before they carry out the main task behind their visit to China.

The Pakistani naval delegation will call on their Chinese counterpart commander of the East Sea Fleet at the Shanghai Naval Garrison, as well as senior officials from the Shanghai Municipal Government.

That will piss Pakistan but we should have a global outlook. Active involvement with Israeli military would not give a good impression. According to BBC polls Israel has similar ratings as that of Pakis.
Moreover we do not need military boots of any other power to show that we are well prepared in that region and it may even piss Kashmiris as Israel has high number of Anti-Semites.
We need to do something that pisses Pakis, keeps Kashmiris happy and the event must gain International limelight in a positive way like the Zubin Mehta's concert few years back. Something that sort of thing. That could show that everything is under control.
P.S. during 1962 war China could not run the defences in Ladakh sector that's why all these melodrama is going on close to PoK.

This is the fifth joint anti-terrorism training between the land forces of China and Pakistan. Each side sent 100 soldiers to participate in the training. The joint training consists of two phases, i.e. anti-terror tactics training and comprehensive drills, aiming to improve the interoperability between the land forces of the two countries in joint anti-terrorism operations.

Pakistan, China begin naval exercises in Arabian Sea
Exercises follow the beginning of trade activities in the strategic Gwadar Port

Pakistan and China have started naval exercises in the Arabian Sea, just days after trade activities officially began in the strategic Gwadar Port.

Gwadar Port, located in Pakistan’s volatile Balochistan province, is part of the $46 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

According to Commodore Mirza Foad Amin Baig, commander of the 18th Destroyer Squadron, the naval exercises, began Thursday and would continue until Nov. 21. They would cover a wide spectrum of maritime and naval operations by ships, helicopters, maritime patrol aircraft, joint boarding operations by special forces, air defense exercises, communication drills and joint maneuvers by ships, Baig added.

Captain Chi Qingtao, flotilla commander of the Chinese Navy, said bilateral exercises would further refine operational capabilities of both navies, and were significant given the backdrop of the CPEC.

The two countries, last year, had sealed 51 agreements during Chinese President Xi Jinping's two-day visit to Pakistan, enhancing cooperation in the fields of energy, security and infrastructure.

The Pakistan-China Economic Corridor aims to connect China with Pakistan's southwestern Gwadar port through a network of roads, railways and pipelines to transport cargo, oil and gas. This will provide the shortest route to Chinese cargo destined for the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa.

China transfers 3 Attack Helicopters to Pakistan in Aid

Pakistan armed forces are beefing up. With tension on the rise with both India and Afghanistan, the need to strengthen the Pakistan army is of great importance. In addition, a terror movement is alive inside Pakistan in the mountainous North West as well as an insurgency for freedom in Baluchistan.

The Pakistani Army claims they needed Helicopter Gunships to fight the insurgency in Baluchistan and the Islamic terror groups. In addition, a threat of a war with India looms on the horizon.

Heli-gunship for Pak Army :

China has now transferred 3 Attack Helicopters to Pakistan with no reports on the cost or payment terms. Pakistan's track record of acquiring weapons in Military Aid is not something new to the world.

The machines given to Pakistan are the WZ-10 Thunderbolts. This battle machine is used by the Chinese army. China has developed an upgraded gunship the WZ-16, but it is not given to Pakistan.
