now for AC 313 ....
http://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/chinas-ac313-has-first-flight-and-secures-launch-customer-339673/

Chinese state-owned helicopter manufacturer Avicopter flew its AC313 helicopter on 18 March from its Jingdezhen facility in eastern China's Jiangxi province.

The triple-engined 13.8t AC313 is a development of the Harbin Z-8 military helicopter, itself a 1980s derivative of the Aerospatiale SA321 Super Frelon that was first flown in 1962.The Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6B-67A-powered aircraft is the largest helicopter that China has developed to date and Avicopter says it fills a gap in the country's helicopter product line.

******

AC 313's length is 23m and Height is 6.76m .
So Mi 26 is bigger .

@ Bhramos
The Chinese version of the Super Frelon looks better than the new Russian helicopter... It seems that China is set to leave Russia in the dust even on aviation tech.
There are other where they left Russian behind ?

I used the term "set" to indicate imminence. China did not yet leave behind Russia, not yet, but it is in the direction of rapid technological gains on aviation with the series of machines, eg. J-20, J-11B, etc., of course not yet the top of the aviation tech hierarchy but making strides to be there, which make it on course of surpassing Russian aviation industry.

BTW, not only aviation, space systems as well. Russia Falls, China Rises in Space Efforts | AVIATION WEEK

BEIJING: China's largest-ever civil helicopter Thursday got certification from the civil aviation administration, the country's civil aviation authority,
People's Daily
reported.

The move marks the official approval for the
13-tonne AC313
, Asia's largest helicopter, to enter the market, said the
Aviation Industry Corp of China
(AVIC), which developed and manufactured the helicopter.

The aircraft focuses on designs of maintainability, life reliability, indemnification and life cycle efficiency, and meets international safety standards, underlining China's abilities in the research and development (R&D) of large helicopters.

AC313 is also world's first civil helicopter to receive an A-category airworthiness certificate at an altitude of 4,500 meters, the AVIC said.

The aircraft can be deployed for emergency rescue operations, forest fire prevention, transport, offshore operations, medical aid, sightseeing and business trips, the AVIC said.

Congrats China!!!Nice copy:hail: You have done it again:thumb:

Their rise is short live, J11 is copy, J-20 is a copy, copies paste will survive till it is possible to borrow tech or buy or steal, China is now space reserch is going coz it is archiving something what many archived back in 80s, Have a look at newer Russian Space Shuttles, New projects, China is far behind..

Great going!

Where is it to be used?

It says civilian, would it not be used for military purpose?

Seems to be a wonderful whirlybird.
Apparently, in the Tibet plateau.

The aircraft is a larger and heavily modified version of the 7-ton Zhi-8 medium transport helicopter that is a close copy of the French SA 321 Super Frelon. China bought 13 of the French helicopters in the 1970s and at least one was reportedly disassembled for study and reverse-engineering.

What does that got to do with your claim that space reserch is based on archiving
from the 80s? Seriously, dude, dont try to defend that ridiculous claim....

Big plans? Sure, "plans" while the chinis has already started.

Hopefully those magical archives can help your guys too.
