China Fails to Rank in Top 100 Global Brands or Innovation

Best Global Brands 2013 - Top 100 List View

Where are the crown jewels Chinis love to boast about? Huawei, Lenovo, ZTE? Nowhere to be found... At least Korea and Japan built some top companies before they went bust, even Taiwan made it on the list. The bottom feeder quantity strategy isn't going work when the bubble bursts, all that will be left is ruin.

It must be all because of all these issues of global recession that has affected the Chinese companies that has prevented them from being amongst the top 100.

Chinese have so far adopted the mass production using cheap labor method. They still have to prove themselves in high quality branded goods.

ridiculous list, no England, only one for Germany, too many French companies...personally I have confidence in Chinese brands: Huawei, ZTE, Alibaba, Tencent, Sany, Haier, CSR, Lenovo, Chery...it's all about the developing stage and strategies, it's the matter of time, we will see...

The innovators list are for those that come out with the most creative products while the brand list is for those with the highest brand awareness. What Chinese companies have done either? It is all xerox so they get no points for innovation and you can't create brands for rip-off products. The Chinese strategy is to make the cheapest and greatest quantity but for value added they get nothing but screwdriver wages.

Louis Vuitton and Guicci are household names, even in China. They don't stay that way by ripping off designs.

it's true Chinese hv performed poorly in either brand building or innovation so far. however quantity is also of vital importance - an economy of scale can drastically lower unit cost when goods are mass produced so that competitors are forced to either match or be outstripped. meantime as a result goods become more affordable thus consumers benefit.

check how Chinese performe in home appliance sector. old brands like Thomson, Electrolux Whirlpool and Sharp may fade out pretty soon.

besides in comparison with BRICS peers Chinese've developed an edge. do u get a name ringing fm India? at least here everyone knows Lenovo, Huawei or Cherry. screwdriver wages seem to be a phase latecomers always hv to go through to climb up the value chain.

The Chinese for an exporting country does not have one brand name product
Koreans have Samsung and japanese have Sony but Chinese do not have one
Quality brand name product ,nothing more than a cheap labor mass producer.

I wonder what the basis/methodology used was atleast for the second chart..

and brands like Louis vuitton just seem like incredibly over priced crap tbh.

China is no known for innovative thinking... a country that does not allow free thinking and where every steps are regimented and controlled can not expect have any representation in top 100 of innovation list...

it depends on the definition of "famous"...

and Obviously, in the eyes of west medias, the reputation among 1.0 billion west people is much more important than that among 1.4 billion CHinese.
