This is completely misleading.

Number of scientists per million population:

China: 1234, India: 216.

This is 2018 data. Today, China has 8-10x more scientists than India.

Publications in all top journals combined:

This will include nature for basic science, equivalent top journal for engineering, computers, economics, etc

China: 788 K, India: 217 K, US: 766 K.

Clearly, China has 9x more scientists than India. Hence it publishes 4x more articles in top journals. And 10x more articles in top basic science journals like nature.

Don't even think once India forms more universities and puts its RnD population at par with China/USA, it will be behind on these indexes.

This may have a major impact on Chinese economy in the future:
Wuhan Coronavirus Lab Leak No Longer a “Conspiracy Theory”
It was dismissed as a conspiracy theory. But now the coronavirus lab leak theory—that the coronavirus accidentally leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, is gaining traction. And there are some disturbing connections between US doctors, like Peter Daszak and Anthony Fauci, to the Wuhan Institute of Virology and its lead researcher Dr. Shi Zhengli.
US Funded China’s Coronavirus Research
The US was funding coronavirus research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, where some believe the coronavirus may have leaked from. The lab had known safety issues. What did Fauci know? Find out on this China Uncensored!

Just because US was funding COVID research, does not mean it is guilty.
It could have been funding it for good reasons, for medicinal research.

Real thing would be to find out:
(1) Whether there was a lab leak.
(2) If yes, was it accidental or due to poor/malicious intent.

I agree. I only posted the second link because people like Fauci and Daszak have vested interests in covering up the fact that Chinese Communist Party (CCP) used American tax dollars to create the Covid biological weapon virus in Chinese military lab; money which was funneled through a network including Fauci and Daszak, as well as scientific research assistance provided through American scientific community. Plenty of American scientists got rich through this money laundering program into CCP military biological weapons program, and this also has to be stopped.
Personally I have already seen enough evidence which shows that CCP developed Covid in its military biological weapons program, and secondly, lied about there being no person to person transmission to the US, while simultaneously allowing Chinese carriers of the virus to travel to the US (while also locking down locally within China )as a form of biological weapon attack. So I already know that CCP had a malicious intent to attack the US and other countries with a biological weapon, and carried out the attack using Chinese travellers while simultaneously buying up all PPE and antivirals and other drugs.

Gordon Chang has done a great job in the following video interview (at the website linked below) in explaining why Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is guilty of a biological weapon attack regardless of whether the CCP decided after a lab leak of the biological weapon Covid virus to spread the virus to India, US and other democracies by using Chinese travellers, or whether CCP purposefully sent Chinese travellers with Covid biological weapon to these other countries to spread the virus, while simultaneously buying up all the PPE and antiviral drugs as well as locally locking down within China (while pushing other countries and foreign airlines to accept Chinese carriers of the biological weapon virus):
Gordon Chang: Communist China Has Committed ‘Mass Murder’ of Americans
Last year, Congressman Eric Swalwell’s ties to the suspected Chinese spy Fang Fang brought Chinese espionage to the forefront of national discussion. But that was just the tip of the iceberg.
And beyond espionage, the Chinese Communist Party has become increasingly belligerent globally—from fueling riots in America to encroaching in Nepali territory to celebrating COVID-19 deaths in India. What is the Chinese leadership hoping to achieve, and why do they believe—according to Chang—that they are running out of time?
Furthermore, one year on, over 3 million people have died globally from COVID-19. Beyond covering up the initial outbreak, did China’s communist leaders intentionally spread this virus beyond its borders? And if it did, what does that mean for America and the world?
In this episode, we sit down with China analyst Gordon Chang to understand the full scope of Chinese communist subversion.

Although all of this has been shameful, I doubt if China's citizen would be able to overthrow them.
They are brainwashed by propaganda. Any news or even a social media comment that is against CCP is banned, the person is fired from job or put in jail.

Even worse, the Chinese living abroad are not safe as many times, their parents are put in jail.

One Chinese-Canadian actress Anastasia Lin criticized Chinese government in a non-troll way.

They cancelled her parents VISA and threatened to kill them. In above links.

Now Gordon Chang is also not safe as he is from Hong Kong which is now under Chinese rule.

What is worst that they use this propaganda to show how China's communism is better than democracy. And India's bad situation is shown as a comparison.

In reality, they can't compete with Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore or Japan (democratic East Asian population) on per capita GDP.

And neither do they compare with Trinidad And Tobago, or Maldives on per capita GDP (democratic South Asian/Indian population).

And can only compare themselves with a nation 3-4x smaller geographically which has 5x less oil and 6x less natural gas. And where most of the population is kids (<18 years old).

Shein overtakes Amazon as the most installed shopping app in US

Shein‘s quiet rise has reached a crescendo as the fast fashion e-commerce app takes the crown from Amazon as the most downloaded shopping app on iOS and Android in the United States, according to data from app tracking firms App Annie and SensorTower.

Its ascent is quiet because the startup, despite reportedly exceeding a $15 billion valuation, maintains an unusually low profile and doesn’t try to make itself known to the media. The app, dubbed the “TikTok for e-commerce” by China-focused internet analyst Matthew Brennan in this thorough piece on the startup, manufactures in China as many apparel retailers do.

The difference is Shein controls its own production chain, from design and prototype to procurement to manufacturing. Each step is highly digitized and integrated with another, which allows the company to churn out hundreds of new products tailored to different regions and user tastes at a daily rate. The strategy is not unlike TikTok matching content creators with users by using algorithms to understand their habits in real-time.

On May 11, Shein became the top shopping app on Android by new downloads in the U.S., and six days later took the top spot on iOS as well, according to App Annie. It briefly topped the Android chart in late April. Shein also climbed to the No.1 place on the App Store chart, which measures a combination of downloads, velocity and a few other signals to determine ranks.

The origin of Shein, which was previously named “She Inside,” is little understood. On its official website, it describes itself as an “international B2C fast fashion e-commerce platform” founded in 2008. There is no mention of its founder and CEO Chris Xu. In a 2018 corporate blog posted on WeChat, it wrote that it was headquartered in Nanjing, an eastern Chinese city home known for its historical heritages and home to Chinese appliance giant Suning. It also opened offices in other major Chinese cities as well as the U.S., Belgium and the United Arab Emirates.

Shein’s low profile is perhaps expected in times of geopolitical tensions and heightened regulatory scrutiny over China-related tech companies around the world. Shein owns its sales channel and user data, which distinguishes it from the swathe of generic consumer brands relying on Amazon for customer acquisition without meaningful access to user data.

Last June, the Indian government banned Shein among 59 apps, including TikTok and WeChat, that it deemed “prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order.”

The company may also want to lay low and protect its secrets to success from rivals, suggested an investor focused on cross-border business. The race in China’s e-commerce export is highly competitive and it’s not uncommon to see, for example, Chinese sellers on Amazon sabotaging one another.

As of May 17, Shein was the top iOS shopping app in 54 countries and ranked top in the category on Android devices across 13 countries, according to App Annie. The app’s performance raises the question of how much it’s spending on marketing to outrival an entrenched giant like Amazon. The other question is how many of its downloads actually turn into active users.

Shein has not announced who its investors are, but Chinese media reports have listed JAFCO Asia, Greenwoods Asset Management, IDG Capital, Sequoia Capital China, Tiger Global, and Xiaomi founder’s Shunwei Capital among its backers.

Sequoia Capital China confirmed it’s an investor in Shein. Shein declined to comment for the story.

The story was updated with more context on Shein and rankings.

--------------------------

Looks there are lots of US and Chinnese VCs behind Shein.

Inside Look at Sweatshop in China Where Children Work 20 Hour Days
Despite the rapid growth of the Chinese economy in the last decade, more than 482 million people in China – 36% of the population – live on less than $2 a day. In total 85% of China’s poor live in rural areas and extreme poverty forces many of them to leave the countryside in search of employment in urban areas. Often referred to as the factory of the world, China’s industry-oriented economy relies on these migrant workers who make up the majority of the workforce.

Former Coca-Cola Employee Convicted of Stealing $120 Million Worth of Trade Secrets to Sell in China
A Chinese-born American chemist was found guilty on April 22 for her role in a scheme to steal trade secrets worth an estimated $120 million from American companies for the purpose of setting up a Chinese company that would manufacture the product for the global market.

After a 12-day trial, 59-year-old You Xiaorong—also known as Shannon You—of Lansing, Michigan, was convicted of conspiracy to commit trade secret theft, conspiracy to commit economic espionage, possession of stolen trade secrets, economic espionage, and wire fraud, according to the Justice Department.

While working at two U.S. companies—Coca-Cola in Atlanta, Georgia, and Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport, Tennessee—she stole trade secrets related to BPA-free (bisphenol-A) coating technology, which lines the insides of cans and other food and beverage containers to prevent flavor loss, corrosion, and reactions to the food or beverage content. In recent years, companies have turned to developing BPA-free coatings because of the potential health risks of BPA.

The trade secrets cost nearly $120 million to develop, and were stolen from major chemical and coating companies including Akzo-Nobel, BASF, Dow Chemical, PPG, Toyochem, Sherwin Williams, and Eastman Chemical Company, prosecutors said. You’s role as a principal engineer for global research for Coca-Cola from December 2012 to August 2017 and later as a manager at Eastman Chemical Company from September 2017 to June 2018 allowed her access to these coating companies’ BPA-free technology.

You stole the trade secrets to help establish a new BPA-free coating company in China, prosecutors said. She had two co-conspirators, Liu Xiangchen, a 63-year-old man from eastern China’s Shandong Province, and an unnamed relative of Liu, according to the department. Liu, who was indicted at the same time as You in February 2019, formed the plan to bring You’s stolen technology to China, where Liu would set up and manage a firm that would develop BPA-free packaging. In return, Liu promised You an ownership share in the new company, prosecutors said.

You also found a Chinese corporate partner in Weihai Jinhong Group, which in 2017 agreed to invest 180 million yuan ($26.58 million) for the company’s production line manufacturing BPA-non-intent coating, according to a 2018 Chinese media report.

The report also said that Weihai Jinhong Group sponsored You in her application to join the “Thousand Talents Plan” in 2018, through which she was to be rewarded 3 million yuan ($443,000) from the central government, Shandong provincial government, and Weihai City government for bringing her stolen BPA-free technology to China. At the same time, the production line also received 50 million yuan ($7.4 million) in funding from those governments, the report said.

The “Thousand Talents Plan” is a Chinese-state-sponsored recruitment program designed to entice foreign experts to work in the country. This program, and other similar Chinese plans, have drawn intense scrutiny from the U.S. government over its role in facilitating the transfer of intellectual property to China.

Prosecutors said evidence, including You’s Thousand Talents application documents, presented at the trial showed You’s intention to benefit not only Weihai Jinhong Group, but also the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

This case is the latest in a raft of prosecutions targeting Chinese state-sanctioned theft of American intellectual property in recent years.

Earlier this week, a hospital researcher was sentenced to 33 months in prison for conspiring to steal trade secrets from an Ohio children’s hospital to sell in China. A university math professor was also indicted on charges in relation to failing to disclose support he was receiving from the CCP and a Chinese state-run university.

You is due to be sentenced on Nov. 1.

9 out 10 cities in China have failed government pollution standards according to China's Ministry of Environmental Protection. A quarter of million Chinese die every year from pollution, rivers turn blood red, and by 2030, China will be COMPLETELY OUT OF WATER! These are just a few of the signs that China's pollution has reached apocalyptic levels, and it's having a global effect on climate change. To find out the rest, watch this episode of China Uncensored.
