Automation is one reason of course.

But also the efficiency of the eco-system which really includes not only the mass of companies in every step of the ladder in practically every industrial supply chain but how they are supplied and connected by the local infrastructure. In China, power is consistent and affordable. This is perhaps the biggest problem with places that have very cheap labor. And the transportation of components and talent in China is simply unmatched, even by developed nations.

You can beat China on labor costs but China clobbers you on power, transportation and access to the world most complete eco-systems. In fact, new factories that start up anywhere else in the world would still need to source components from China until the local eco-system is built up. A local eco-system can take years if not decades.

That is why the new countries benefiting most in this round of industrialization are in ASEAN, especially Vietnam, because they are tied in to China's eco-system and transportation network.

Practically all of my "propaganda" pieces are WSJ, Deutsche Welle, CBS, CNN, Forbes, AP, etc. because they are trade and business related
