WTF is going on in China.

I saw this posting on SCMP - a very respected Hong Kong newspapers.
Please watch the video

Footage of employees being slapped, crawling like dogs at company meeting in China goes virile

At a real estate company’s monthly appraisal meeting in central China’s Hubei province, employees were captured on video crawling around on all fours like dogs and getting slapped.

among all these goddamn capitalists, real estate is the worst.
Nimo_cn couple of questions ?

This is a real estate company right ?
In real-estate if you sell....you make commission, if you dont sell you make nothing.
The base salary the company pays is so small......it really the commission that makes the pay.

So if you dont sell....you dont make any money and company does not lose much.....just replace you.
That's how real-estate in the US work......is it different in China ?

There's a lot more to real estate than that. If it's a real estate company, it will also manage other things like rent collection and make commissions from that (and charge the home owner for providing the rent collection service). They also offer other allied services like repair work, interior design etc. It's not limited to just buying and selling houses.

Property prices are the linchpin of the entire Chinese economy, if these people fail to sell the prices go down. As they are collateral for most bank loans, wealth management products and local government financing any decline will turn much of the banking system insolvent.

I saw one where similar treatment was given for a financial firm.
This sort of behaviour comes from people who think they are somehow entitled and others need to be put in their place.
It reminds me of the quote "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

I believe that how real estate works in China as well. the thing is instead of replacing you, capitalist would rather spur you like a horse.

Let me be clear, it is not that everybody wants Chinese economy to fail.

It is more about “fear of unknown” which pertains to communist party. We don’t know the implications to the world if CCP becomes all powerful, because they are not even answerable to its own people.

You can’t expect us to be China’s well wishers when your country is funding our mortal enemy.

Actually Nimo.......Chinese capitalism embodies some of the worst aspects of capitalism. Practices that have been discarded in many democratic capitalist countries. Unbridled capitalism is like a runaway train..........it has no brake.

You Chinese have not cultivated the other social, civil and civic institutions that can control unbridled capitalism.....like a Free Press, Civil Society, Labor Unions, or even Civic non-profit organizations that keep a check on these types of abusive companies, etc..

The only brake you have is when someone high up in the CCP decides to take down a big CEO or something like that. Your whole society is based on top down control, not grass-roots bottom up change and improvement.

That's the inherent weakness of your Chinese system......everything depends on a few top aides of Xi Jinping making all the right calls all the time.

Engineers call that an open-loop system.........there is no negative feedback in the loop to keep it from a runaway situation. Its an inherently unstable system.

We're not too far behind in that regard. The appalling safety standards and wages we give our workers in construction, tea estates, sewage clearance, etc is telling about the way our own workers are treated. How many construction workers do we see going out in the hot sun all day carrying bricks on their head, without any protective helmet or shoes even in places like Gurgaon. How many people do we send down to manually clear sewage pipes, even though according to the law only machines are to be used? This has already resulted in numerous deaths from inhalation of toxic fumes. Instead of the government enacting anti job generating labour laws as it has been doing for 70 years, it should concentrate on maintaining a proper standard in industry practices for labour.
