@jus, India has already achieved a decent economic model where bulk of GDP comes from services.

The growth is India manufacturing will come from higher value addition. This is already happening.

The large invisibles (IT, ITES etc) are also a kind of manufacturing as software projects use a number of characteristics of shop floor production. If you add income from IT and ITES, then India's current account is quite comfortable and there is no reason for currency depreciation.

India external debt is quite small compared to size of the economy. This proves that India has developed largely on internal resources.

@sgarg India is paradox,we are skipping mfg and enter to Service sector here 20% ppl contributing 70% gdp from service sector but our 50% ppl depends on Agri.If these 600 mn ppl also enter service sector then we called as developed country. That is big puzzle & slow process.
The government focus is back on manufacturing. India has very limited scope of growth in agriculture. The only hope for mass employment is in manufacturing and services.

Manufacturing is a driver of services, so this sector needs a lot of focus.

I think that if the agriculture is more scientifically approached, then it could contribute to the enrichment of the country. Agricultural marketing, Retailing, Wasteland development, Risk management, Farm extension, arm mechanisation, Contract farming and Finance are areas that require attention.

Fruit and vegetable demands have gone up owing to better income and yet this is approached in a traditional manner.

@Ray, your point is valid from the point of increasing rural incomes. However not from increasing employment.

GOI faces the very important job of increasing employment which is based on growth in manufacturing and services.

Valid.

I was not actually addressing employment. I was addressing the Indian economy and indirectly the exodus from the rural areas.

@Ray @sgarg India Un/Intentionally knows it's weakness in mfg/agri.I read some where,if u invest 1/- in Mfg Rate of return is 1.60/- where as in service 2/- with less damage to environment.

That is why GOI investing heavily in Medical tourism,Tourism,Yoga,Incredible India,Space tech,Biotech,Pharma, entertainment industry, software, etc which are burden for poor country like India but gives good yield in long term :thumb:
Exactly !!

Tourism and Service sectors give more profit than manufacturing. Plus these sectors are pollution free.

Any Crime on the soil of BRIC must be a Punishable Offence

sir, if US and their allies do any crime in any part of world, it must bring a price for them on their own soil. i mean, if US and their allies like UK may do something on the soil of BRIC, then BRIC must be able to make them pay a 'fit' price on their own soil. for example of location wise, Russia may even crush whole UK/Britain within a day, and it would definitely help the establishments of US learn a lesson too. in fact, crushing whole UK by air/water and other means within a day, too easy for Russia, will suddenly help us get a 2009 type recession in world which will eventually help these highly indebted OECD economies learn enough, while Russia already has too many sanctions..... Eurozone economy still below its 2008 level, the way they have borrowed so much debt since then, any more 2008-09 type recession will eventually 'finish' them....

Doing crimes on the soil of BRIC must be a punishable offence, the people behind any wrong on the soil of BRIC must not be allowed to walk away unpunished. there must not be any reason, why they can't be punished, just because territories of US/UK may defend those certain criminals. if the establishments of US/UK allow criminal activities in any part of world, by using their government agencies funded by the tax payers/voters who elected these governments of US/UK, then it will be a price for all the voters/tax payers of US/UK, which must be demonstrated with whatever arms, the BRIC have :thumb:

It is important, if I may state, that the development must be looked at holistically.

Indeed the sector mentioned with add to jobs and bring in the dollars.

However, unless we have a strong manufacturing base and a robust agriculture, it will lead to imports and that will take away all what the other sectors will be reaping in.

Every aspect that contributes to the economy should be addressed is what I feel.

Mr @Ray Manufacturing is given priority through "Make in India" program.

Regarding Agriculture India lacks good food processing industry. Most of the agri products from India are not seen as good quality products. I think Food processing Industry needs to be given High Priority. In Japan the time it takes for a vegetable from harvest to Market is very less compared to India. They also preserved the vegetables in coolers before being sent to markets.

Similarly fish, the moment the fish is caught and exported to USA, the fish is taken care in freezers because of good food processing techniques.

Fisheries and Horticulture are also generating income compared to Agriculture. Since India has enormous coast line India needs to develop Fisheries as well. There is a good potential in this industry.

In Andhra Pradesh Agriculture, Fisheries and Horticulture are generating income almost in equal measure.

At the same time we need to take care of pollution levels, not to go for more coal plants, using solar and nuclear energy will help the environment.

On processing and package food, I was telling how lucky my brother, who is an American citizen, that he had the best of food in the US and that is why he is better built.

He gave me a huge discourse how we are lucky that we eat fresh food and how processed food hampers health and so on.

Even on TV shows, I learnt that packaged and processed food are not that 'wonderful' as I thought.

The other day I heard a TV debate on the ills of GM food and how it has led to 'lifestyle' diseases in the US and so on.

I, being no expert, am totally confused.

But I would go along with fresh organic food and so I grow vegetables on my roof in an organic way and have some fruit tress in the small patch of a garden that my father insisted we have since he was very anti 'urban slum' i.e. flats in high rise. That is why we have a large bungalow with a garden and don't live in a flat.

However, given the shrinking space in the country, we will all have to depend on processed and frozen food.

Therefore, yes you are right, India will have to address the issue more seriously.

Even so, a fresh fish just caught and cooked immediately is a flavour that cannot be matched by even a 'fresh' frozen fish (frozen because it has come from some distance but still 'just caught') that is sold in the market.

Try any vegetable cultivated in a pot at home to that of the market. The difference is vast.

That is nice to grow own vegetables organically, Now a days Organic farming is gaining importance !! :thumb:

Mr @Ray I have watched the series of episodes called "delicious Nippon" a program on Japanese cuisine. In this program Japanese techniques of agriculture and fishing are shown. These are amazing techniques and shows how much Japanese give the importance for fresh food.

We also need to learn and implement these techniques in India.

Thank you.

I gave me the first time to learn about the history of Japanese cuisine and also about fermented food used.

The whole series is so fascinating.

I do make Sushi at home and even use raw fish and I knew that the Japanese use great 'sauces' to add to the flavour.

Actually, we must teach Indians to have Nori the seaweed and that is available all over in our massive coast like . It is high in protein and great for health.

Why look for issues to bug China with outside of China. The most serious issue that will keep China busy in the next 20 years are inside China from Tibet, Xinjiang region to domestic discontent. But I guess America will reserve the best for last?

We have an All Out War on Our Head

things aren't that easy, its too complex/complicate, and too hard to ignore for China/Russia or any other developing country like India too.....

US/UK have serious involvements in china and other developing countries, which they simply can't ignore. An 'all out' war is on our head at present, which won't be delayed for more than a year, hopefully not but this is what we have at present"¦.. And only UK looks an easy hit, such a small country and have done serious crimes in different parts of world, the center of Commonwealth, and it won't survive on long run, I don't think so, considering their too objectionable involvements in other countries....

Things are so tough that, we may see an "all out war" to just target voters/tax payers of UK/US, as now we have a people to people war with those democratic countries, US/UK, who don't have voting rights for rest of the world in their democratic parliamentary election but are involved with serious crimes in other countries. "¦. and as they have developed few key techs, and as they won't like to give up their grip from rest of world so easily, neither BRIC or other countries may live with the things ongoing too, we are just waiting for a start in this regard from somewhere :ranger:

And as I mentioned in my last post#205, and considering the level of serious crimes the UK/Commonwealth nations have organized in most of the parts of world where they dont share voting right in their democratic parliamentary election, we may soon see a certain single day, when UK totally wiped out from the world map"¦..

And it would be the very first step in this 'would be' all out war, which has threatened we all :ranger:

No, we don't need to use Pakistan, the problem between you two already existed even before PRC was founded.
All China need to do is keep this problem there.
Your leadership is taking full advantage of the situation between India and Pakistan as you have exploited the North East separatist movement in 1960's onwards. The times have changed and the bad Karma is already bleeding your Pakistani brothers. Your nation is next to pay the same price for her deeds. How and when you will pay will depend upon your CCP and PLA's actions and reactions in the global family of nation's? The intensity of natural disasters can also increase by applying military weapons technology once we are in position to apply the space technology to control and land our space crafts on Asteroids and comets in large numbers. One such success was displayed by European space program. Prepare your capital for some surprises before 2020.

China itself is heading for disaster. Things will get much worse before they get better. The illogic and militarism drive wars. Wars always result in misery. Nothing good has ever come out from meaningless and useless wars of the last few centuries.

India and Pakistan both need to spend more on social warfare, not military. However aggressiveness of China drives up military expenditure in India, and diverts funds needed for welfare.

Pakistan is chasing an impossible dream of defeating India. Pakistan does not a political or military capability to defeat India. I see a war in which Pakistan Army will suffer catastrophic losses. Since Pakistani political and social institutions are weak, it will implode once Pakistani army is defeated.

China's entire foreign policy structure is going to get buried in Pakistan. The military and political aid has no meaning if your "friend" is destroyed. As USA has seen in Iraq, war is easy but the peace is not. China has no great goodwill in people of Pakistan. While its military may be pliable, the people will not be so.

How Asians View Each Other | Pew Research Center's Global Attitudes Project

30% of BOTH Indians and Pakistani view Chinese favourably.

However it must be noted that Indian perception of Chinese is mostly about OVERSEAS Chinese, and not Mainland Chinese. The interaction between Indians and Mainland Chinese is quite limited.

If and when pakistan implodes, it will lead to a lot of terrorists who will go to Chchnia, Uguyr(china) and Jammu Kashmir( India) and all three countries will have to act to destroy these terrorists. After the war, the amount of money needed to feed hungry refusees will be so much that even China won't be able to afford.
