Re: Japan ups ante on Diaoyu islands

The dispute against China has become more symbolic. Japanese and many smaller
nations are making it clear they have not accepted Chinese dominance in an economic
sense or military sense. Japanese remilitirization will cut China back down to size very
fast.

Yes

Senkaku Islands dispute - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

History under Japanese and US control
Japanese workers at a bonito fisheries processing plant on Uotsurishima sometime around 1910[15]The Japanese central government formally annexed the islands on January 14, 1895. Around 1900, Japanese entrepreneur Koga Tatsushirō (古賀 辰四郎?) constructed a bonito processing plant on the islands with 200 workers. The business failed in 1940 and the islands have remained deserted ever since.[15]

In the 1970s, Koga Tatsushirō's descendents Zenji and Hanako Tatsushirō sold the islands to the Kurihara family of Saitama Prefecture. Hiroyuki Kurihara owns Uotsuri, Kita Kojima, and Minami Kojima. Hiroyuki's sister owns Kuba.[16]

The islands were under US government occupation authority from 1945 until 1972.[15] Since the islands reverted to Japanese government control in 1972, the mayor of Ishigaki has been given civic authority over the territory. The Japanese central government, however, has prohibited Ishigaki from surveying or developing the islands.[15][17]

In 1971, the Taiwanese and Chinese governments officially began to declare ownership of the islands after the U.N. issued a report about possible gas and oil reserves in the Senkaku area

nope, its too small, no food, no fresh water, just bunch rock.
You should'nt believe all crap from this guy

1,000 Chinese boats headed for Senkakus: report

BEIJING — Around 1,000 Chinese fishing boats are expected to arrive in waters near the Senkaku Islands claimed by China later Monday, the state-run China National Radio reported, in what may be Beijing's additional countermeasures over Japan's nationalization of the islets.

If a large number of Chinese vessels intrude into Japanese territorial waters around the Japanese-controlled islands in the East China Sea, it could trigger unexpected incidents such as clashes with Japan Coast Guard patrol ships, further escalating tensions between the two countries.

The radio station said in an online edition that Chinese fisheries authorities will monitor the fishing boats' activities near the uninhabited islets, which Beijing calls Diaoyu, via a marine observation satellite.

The 1,000 boats from coastal provinces such as Zhejiang and Fujian may be joined by six Chinese surveillance ships that have been staying in nearby waters since intruding into Japanese territorial waters near the islands Friday.

Meanwhile, anti-Japan protests continued in Beijing for the seventh straight day on Monday, but were much smaller than the mass demonstrations — some violent — that took place across China over the weekend.

As police tightened security around the Japanese Embassy, about 200 people on Monday marched on a street in front of the embassy, protesting the Japanese government's announcement on Tuesday last week that it put the islands under state control by signing a purchase contract with the owner of three of the islands, a Japanese individual.

Some of the protests on Saturday and Sunday involved vandalism, looting and arson targeting Japanese factories, stores and restaurants operating in the country.

Anti-Japan protests are likely to continue up to the 81st anniversary on Tuesday of the start of the 1931 Mukden Incident, also known as the Manchurian Incident, in which the Imperial Japanese Army blew up a Japanese railway in southern Manchuria to serve as a pretext for invading northeastern China.

Japan maintains the Senkaku Islands are an integral part of Japanese territory and that there are no territorial disputes between the two countries. Taiwan also claims sovereignty over the islands, which are known as Tiaoyutai to the Taiwanese.

China fears India backing Japan as tussle escalates.

BEIJING: Chinese officials are worried that the growing relationship between India and Japan, its main rival, is meant to contain and counter it. This revelation comes from two Chinese experts at a time when China is engaged in a serious conflict with Japan over the Diaoyu Islands.

"India's border disputes with China have yet to be resolved, therefore it views a stronger relationship with Japan as a way to counter balance China's growing influence in the Asia Pacific region," the experts said in an article published by the government owned think-tank, China Institute of International Studies.

As its dispute with Japan escalates, China seems worried India will throw its weight in favour of Tokyo. India and Japan "share much strategic common ground" on China, the article authored by Zhang Guihong, a professor at The Institute of International Studies in Fudan University in Shanghai and Qiu Changqing, a doctorate student in the same university, said.

"The deepening relationship between India and Japan comes from a lack of visible conflicts as well as the two nations sharing similar views on global affairs," it said.

The Chinese foreign ministry had earlier accused India of trying to counter balance China when ONGC entered into oil exploration along with a Vietnamese company in an Island that China claims as its own. In a rare show of frankness, the experts admitted that China has been throwing its weight in areas around India as part of a strategic game.

"In recent years, China keeps displaying its power around India exemplified by the construction of ports in countries such as Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Myanmar," the article said. "China also works to establish maritime connection with Maldives, Seychelles, Mauritius, Madagascar and so on; making India uneasy". India seeks to contain China because it feels "disappointed and threatened" by Chinese economic growth, the authors said.

Re: Japan ups ante on Diaoyu islands

China is just worried that other's will follow in its footsteps. A justifiable fear! It back-stabbed communism by getting into bed with America against the Soviets. It back-stabbed 'Indo China bhai bhai' Chou-Nehru friendship by attacking India. It supported and armed terrorist organizations world wide. It armed despots with nukes just so that it can spite India. So China is just worried that somebody might be working against it behind its back, do those dirty tricks that it has been practicing in its neighborhood all these years. So, nothing wrong in China's fears!

Alaska F-22s deployed to Pacific even as tensions escalate between China, Japan

Alaska's fleet of F-22 fighter jets and their elite pilots have been deployed to an airbase in the Pacific U.S. territory of Guam, according to officials at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage. The deployment has been planned for some time, but happens to coincide with a period of escalating tension in the Pacific Theater, as Japan and China dispute who has the rights to a set of uninhabited, resource-rich islands.

sometime i feel Chinese fisherman are paramilitary and not civilians, when ever we see the escalation of dispute, they sail their boats to the disputed area. or Chinese navy is operating fishing industry in china?

US won't side with Japan against China over diaoyu island

Is the U.S. Committed to Defend the Senkakus? Text of Article 5 of the U.S.-Japan Treaty - Forbes

Bascially the US media denied any rumors that Japan media wanked so far about how their US boss will save their sorry ass over the diaoyu island dispute with China.:pound:

Things goes just preciously like I predicted, if the US wont fight for japan over diaoyu island against China, they certainly wont do that for their other cannon fodders a.k.a allies, lol

So someone's bubble dream has finally broken with cold-hard reality as we all know, hehehe

Good thing to know the US is wise and has made the right decision, unlike many stupid politicans around us,hehehe.:cool2:
