Change stand on Kashmir, Farooq tells Pak - The Times of India

JAISALMER: The Union minister for new and renewable energy Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday advised Pakistan to change its stand on Kashmir as it has been a part of India since 1947 and would always remain so. He was reacting to reports of Kashmir separatists urging Pakistan's foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar to raise the Kashmir issue at the India-Pakistan talks.

Replying to a question on the outcome of Pakistan's foreign minister's visit to India , he said cordial relations with India would benefit our neighbour. "India has always initiated Confidence Building Measures. Now its Pakistan's turn (referring to Khar's visit) to reciprocate by resolving all issues amicably ," the president of National Conference said.

Rejecting the claims made by separatist leaders of atrocities by police and army, he reminded them "since the series of protest claiming 117 lives last summer , the Valley is recovering as five lakh devotees visited Amarnath this year."
