The dispute at the Manipur sector of the Indo-Myanmar border is nearing to solve at the diplomatic level between the two countries, said leaders of the political parties included in the high level political team led by chief minister O Ibobi Singh that recently visited New Delhi.
Without mentioning the two parties, BJP and MPP, which was not part of the delegation, criticized them alleging that these parties were drying to mislead the people with the hidden motive of taking political advantages at a news conference which was the first ever after the delegation returned to Imphal.
A high level political delegation, excluding BJP and MPP, led by O Ibobi visited New Delhi in the first week of this current month and met with Prime Minister, Union home minister and other top officials of the Central government and drew their attention to the contentious fencing at the Manipur sector of Indo-Myanmar border.
The delegates had submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh which one each copies furnished to UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Union home minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde, external affairs minister Salman Khurshid drawing their attention to re-look into the border fencing work.
After the Prime Minister assured that no a single inch of land of Manipur would be given to the neighbouring country, Union minister asked the BRO and Assam Rifles to put on hold the fencing work immediately.
BJP and MPP (Manipur People's Party) alleged that chief minister O Ibobi Singh had prior knowledge of the contentious border fencing and pretending to be ignorance of the matter.
Talking at the news conference, CPI leader Dr M Nara stressed the need for a united stand of the political parties in such a sensitive issue while lambasting BJP and MPP.
He claimed that after the high level intervened, Centre was trying to solve the dispute at the international border at diplomatic level.
For this India government had already initiated to Myanmar even though the reply of the later was yet to be received. India was expecting to hold talk with Myanmar on the border issue within this current month or by the first month of next year.
