What is done if the enemy violates the treaty signed, the Geneva treaty in this case which was violated. Is there any protest done or should they be replied in the same way?

continuing with our discussion about our brave hearts, Capt. Saurabh Kalia and his patrol team Sepoys Arjun Ram, Bhanwar Lal Bagaria, Bhika Ram, Moola Ram and Naresh Singh, this thread is being created as an appeal to all the indian brothers and sisters to not let go this ghastly act of terror committed by the pakistan army unpunished, just the way our successive governments have let this very important issue fizzle out as the time passed by.

the then GoI headed by Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee, had committed to the family of Capt Saurabh Kalia, Sepoys Arjun Ram, Bhanwar Lal Bagaria, Bhika Ram, Moola Ram, Naresh Singh and to the nation that they will take up this matter with the International Human Rights Organisations and with the United Nations, and as is so typical of our governments all was forgotten and this time the reason sighted was the peace process, though that is an unofficial take.

the campaign is still on and the same this time is being spear headed by captain's brother, be a part and make sure we do not act and behave like our governments.

I am proud father of Amar Shaheed Lt. Saurabh Kalia of 4 JAT Regiment of the Indian Army who laid down his life at the prime age of 22 for the Nation while doing duty of guarding the frontiers at Kargil. The parents, the Indian Army but the whole nation lost a dedicated, honest and brave son. He was the first officer to detect and inform Pak intrusion. Pakistan captured him and his patrol party of 5 brave men alive on 15th May, 99 from our side of LOC. They were in their captivity for 3 weeks and subjected to unprecedented brutal torture as evident from their bodies handed over by Pakistan Army on 9th June, 99.They indulged in dastardly acts of burning bodies with cigarettes, piercing ears with hot rods, removing eyes before puncturing them, breaking most of the bones and teeth, chopping off various limbs and private organs of these soldiers besides inflicting unimaginable physical and mental tortures. They were shot dead ultimately. (A detailed postmortem report is with the Indian Army) This continued for about 22 days. Pakistan dared to humiliate India this way flouting all international norms. To what an extreme humanity can be degraded, Pakistan provided an example. However,the Indian soldiers did not break while undergoing all this unlimited barbarism. This speaks volumes of their patriotism, grit, determination, tenacity and valour and the whole nation should be proud of them. All over the country there is unprecedented anger and outrage at this tragedy. Sacrificing oneself for the nation is an honour every soldier would love to do but no parents, army or nation can accept what happened to these brave sons of India. I am afraid every parent would think twice to send their wards in the armed forces if we all fall short of our duty of safeguarding the PRISONERS OF WAR AND LET THEM MEET THE FATE OF LT. SAURABH KALIA. It may also send a demoralising signal to the Army personnel fighting for the Nation that our POWs in Pak cannot be taken care of. It is a matter of shame and disgust that most of Indian Human Rights Organisations by and large, showed apathy in this matter. Through this humble submission, may I appeal to all the civilised people irrespective of colour, caste, region, religion and political lineage to stir their conscience and rise to take this as a NATIONAL ISSUE? International Human Rights Organisations must be approached to expose and pressurise Pakistan to identify, book and punish all those who perpetrated this heinous crime to our men in uniform. If Pakistan is allowed to go unpunished in this case, everyone can imagine the consequences. This is the list of 5 other soldiers who preferred to die for the country rather than open their mouths in front of enemy.

10 years on, Kargil martyr’s family still fighting a ‘battle’

“Of course, his supreme sacrifice has made us proud, but what has exhausted, disappointed and dejected us is that the nation for which he has sacrificed his life least bothered to highlight the plight of war crimes at the international fora,” N.K. Kalia, 61, a retired senior scientist from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, told IANS.

“We have been shuttling between various government offices and organisations with the hope of highlighting the plight of the war victims. The Indian government has failed to deliver justice as it has forgotten atrocities meted out on six heroes. For days, they were tortured. Their limbs were chopped and bodies burnt,” rued Kalia.

“Though the then Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the centre expressed concern over the heinous crime and promised to take up the issue at the international level, in all these years the issue got diluted,” he recalled.

“Even today our only demand is that it should keep its promise so that no POWs (prisoners of war) could face Saurabh’s fate. Had this happened to any American or Israeli soldier, the culprits would have been brought to justice.”

It has almost been a decade and there are hardly some people in India who know about it. The media here should take this initiative and begin a nation-wide awareness campaign. But, it is busy reporting twists and turns in reality shows, showcasing private lives of the irresponsible celebrities here.

Unless the media takes the responsibility of this task, such thing have and will continue to happen under the nose of the Government of India and eventually we all forget. The GOI goes out of the way in diplomacy and neglects such things and this leads to the breeding ground for Pak to continue these gruesome acts of inhumanity and crime.

Kargil martyr Capt Kalia's father seeks justice

Upset over "callous attitude" of authorities in taking up the issue of torturous death of his son in the hands of Pakistan army [ Images ] during Kargil [ Images ] war, a slain army Captain's father has filed an RTI plea over the steps taken by the Union government in this regard.

"In the RTI application addressed to Joint Secretary (PIC & CVO) ministry of defence sent on September 8 last, I have sought information on steps taken in this regard in the last 10 years and proposed future action," N K Kalia, father of slain army Captain Saurabh Kalia, told PTI on Friday.

A seemingly distressed Kalia said that based on the information provided under the RTI he would take further steps to get "justice" for his son and five others who were tortured to death by Pakistani army during the 1999 Kargil war.

Late Capt Saurabh Kalia was the first martyr of the Kargil war. He and five other soldiers were captured by the Pakistani army on May 15, 1999 and were barbarously tortured to death in gross violation of the international laws on Prisoners of War (PoW).

When Saurabh's body was flow from Kargil to Delhi [ Images ] it was then promised by authorities that the issue of gross human rights violation would be taken up with Pakistan and also be raised at appropriate international fora, Kalia claimed.

The resident of Palampur sub-division of Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh [ Images ], who himself retired as a senior scientist with the CSIR, said he had been pursuing the matter with the Ministry of External Affairs and other central government agencies for the past 10 years.

"But, all showed callous attitude," he lamented.
