I am a retired infantry man.

Saw a couple of wars and skirmishes. Experience in CI.

Activities recognised by award.

Highest area I have been to in my professional career is a place called Quadruple Six or 6666m or 21870.1 ft on foot.

My medal ribbon on the avatar will tell you where all I have been. I got a few more 'patches' thereafter too.

I write professional article and humorous stories about the Army.

Yusuf invited me here to be a Mod, but I preferred to be a Mentor since Moderation is a full time job.

However, the DFI bug got me.

Have seen how the Mods work and I chip in from tome to time.

Good to interact with Posters, I learn a lot from them and I am proud of the Mod Team since they are fair (even though some may not feel so).

I have seen enough debates 'behind the seen' to realise that decisions are debated very strongly and then it is taken overruled. Yes, overruled!

A PSALM OF LIFE

TELL me not, in mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream ! —
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
And things are not what they seem.

Life is real ! Life is earnest!
And the grave is not its goal ;
Dust thou art, to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul.

Not enjoyment, and not sorrow,
Is our destined end or way ;
But to act, that each to-morrow
Find us farther than to-day.

Art is long, and Time is fleeting,
And our hearts, though stout and brave,
Still, like muffled drums, are beating
Funeral marches to the grave.

In the world's broad field of battle,
In the bivouac of Life,
Be not like dumb, driven cattle !
Be a hero in the strife !

Trust no Future, howe'er pleasant !
Let the dead Past bury its dead !
Act,— act in the living Present !
Heart within, and God o'erhead !

Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time ;

Footprints, that perhaps another,
Sailing o'er life's solemn main,
A forlorn and shipwrecked brother,
Seeing, shall take heart again.

Let us, then, be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate ;
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labor and to wait.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, 1838

Sadly, we out here are not great men!

But I am sure we can remember the Lives of great men all of which remind us that we can make our lives sublime.

And try to departing, leave behind us, some Footprints on the sands of time.

Country flag
For members like me (and so many like me) this was a thread which meant as if we were being introduced to in person when we enter a gathering. It was a pleasure to have a peep into these persons whom we just know by name on this forum.
It is a delight to know about people like LethalForce, Yusuf, Ray, Dare Devil, Ritesh Thakur, and many more.

My intention though was not to have these introductions on this thread, rather a permanent thread started by a main Administrator / Mod, in the introduction of members for all new members to see. - a well written and edited thread for all to know and understand these people.

And I definitely feel this forum needs this.

Further there should be a Permanent thread Started by Admin on "How to ..." for this forum. New members need and immensely thank, for such small helps.

I have a larger take at how this place needs to grow, won't share the details but you can be reasonably sure, DFI will in times to come be taken as a serious think tank not just in the online community but by the decision makers of the country, and I realize all that will require a lot of hard work and some absolutely fantastic planning. Give us a few years, if not more, we will be on it.
I have a lot of expectation from the forum. I keep saying this and will say again. As india grows, forums such as DFI could be a source of ideas in various fields. That's why we started the Indian defence and strategic analysis to allow independent writers to get a platform
Go ahead all of you and Kudos for this vision.
