This has been the outline of an ideal union budget for India for the last 20 years or so.

(repost from past)
Well wrote about it sometime back in the forum and that's a valid concern.another reason why ESG type rating should be kept away from Indian corporates. they keep making up these BS, which India has no control over .
It's standard practice to count housewives/ homemakers as those who are employed?interesting convo on unemployment numbers, KV subramaniam was talking about not trusting CMIE data, and one of the panelists who apparently is on govt panel on statistics and also CMIE defender, says govt does not follow international standards on statistics and in the same breath says govt does not count unpaid family labour which is basically household wives. if this is how CMIE types keep getting high unemployment numbers, no wonder they always seem high.
they seem to be counting housewives as unpaid labour, not necessarily as employed. It's standard practice to count housewives/ homemakers as those who are employed?
to expand on what i think proponents of ESG are trying to do.interesting convo on unemployment numbers, KV subramaniam was talking about not trusting CMIE data, and one of the panelists who apparently is on govt panel on statistics and also CMIE defender, says govt does not follow international standards on statistics and in the same breath says govt does not count unpaid family labour which is basically household wives. if this is how CMIE types keep getting high unemployment numbers, no wonder they always seem high.
never knew that these fellows were counting household wives as unemployed, this is how they were padding up unemployment numbers all these years. unpaid female labour and employment statistics debates were happening in separate buckets, these fellows were silently adding them up without public being aware of it.

Which is why attempts to quantify 'labor value' of a homemaker is imo both demeaning and a slippery slope.to expand on what i think proponents of ESG are trying to do.
if both parents are working, the number of children who learn ethics and family values from internet will increase. with the kind of ideological content algorithms push these days, we are already seeing what kind of attitudes towards society kids in so called advanced nations have. the so called advanced nations have no hostile neighbours, we do.
implications and impact of such things are more severe here in India than over there.
