With pregnancies at the bases in Afghanistan are on the rise, Britain has launched a campaign warning its female soldiers to carry condoms.

Adverts in the Army's official magazine Soldier warned "on deployment, there'll be 50 blokes to each woman' and urge female squaddies, medics and administrative staff to use a condom or "face something you really don't want to hear".

Officially, a "no-touching" rule bans military personnel from having sex in a war zone.

But, according to senior officers, provided sexual relationships are between soldiers of a similar rank and do not impact on operations commanders often turn a blind eye.

However, if, for example, a female nurse is caught having sex with a senior officer, both would face serious disciplinary action and could be thrown out of the Army.

Once female soldiers become pregnant, they are flown home immediately, because rules bar expectant mothers from frontline service.

According to Mail Today, between January 2003 and February 2009, at least 102 British servicewomen posted to Iraq had been sent home after it was found they were to become mothers.

Over the same period the number of female soldiers who had discovered they were pregnant while in theatre in Afghanistan was 31.

Condoms are readily available to male and female soldiers at bases such as Camp Bastion, which houses 8,500 British troops - including 700 women.

A Minister of Defence spokesperson said, "The MoD does not encourage sexual relationships in theatre. All personnel are expected to behave in accordance with the Armed Forces values and standards at all times."

Human Tendency.
No need to mock.

No matter how civilized a person is, there are things that are say 'innate' behaviors and emoticons that defeat us.

Female solders, instead should be given the pill! Condoms in war situations are too much to worry about.

A condom is better the pill may cause hormonal imbalances that result in moody women and poor soldiers.

Very true. Condoms are better. Pill may cause various side-effects resulting in lower efficiency for the purpose they are deployed in field..

Senators Demand General Rescind Order on Pregnant Soldiers

Four Democratic senators have written a letter to an Army general in Iraq asking him to rescind an order that threatened to court martial female soldiers who become pregnant while deployed in the war zone.

The policy by Maj. Gen. Anthony Cucolo III was instituted on Nov. 4, but it has triggered outrage among women's groups since it became publicly known in recent days.

"We can think of no greater deterrent to women contemplating a military career than the image of a pregnant woman being severely punished simply for conceiving a child," the senators wrote to Cucolo today. "This defies comprehension. As such, we urge you to immediately recind this policy."

The letter was signed by Sens. Barbara Boxer of California, Barbara Mikulski of Maryland, Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, and Kirsten Gillibrand of New York.

It was the latest salvo to hit Cucolo over the controvesial policy. Earlier the National Organization for Women called the policy "ridiculous."

"How dare any government say we're going to impose any kind of punishment on women for getting pregnant," NOW President Terry O'Neill said. "This is not the 1800s."

O'Neill said NOW would turn to Defense Secretary Robert Gates and even President Obama for help.

Watch "World News with Diane Sawyer" at 6:30 p.m. ET today for more on Maj. Gen. Anthony Cucolo's restriction on pregnancy in Iraq.

Even before the senators took aim at Cucolo's policy, the general had backed away from his threat today to court martial women under his command who got pregnant. His policy statement said violation of the rule would also apply to the men who get female soldiers pregnant, even if the couple is married.

I have a better idea why not just neuter all the men at the risk of rendering them less efficient since many let their edited make all the decisions.

Which government will do it? Re-born Nazis? I don't think even Nazis will do that.
And who'll join such force voluntarily ?
