MOD has appointed an IAS officer & an IPS officer as a two member panel for 3 years as ‘independent external monitors' for Millitary Engineering Services (MES) & Border Road Organisation (BRO).

Does MOD offer Re-employment to IAS and IPS officers?

What purpose will it serve appointing two retired bureaucrats as monitors for Border Roads Organisation & Millitary Engineering Services both of which are high budget civil engineering related domain?

with so much extra cash going into BRO these days, somebody had to be employed to keep an eye on spending and timelines. Might as well be retired IAS officers, since a serving IAS officer might be under utilised for this kind of audit work.

why can’t a version of this be built over the road ?

Whatever the cost is, it’s probably worth less than the annual strategic logistics cutoff that happens.

1. Weight of snow will ensure structure collapses, prone to landslide, one block will take another portion with it.

2. Roads are zigzag, hard to build normally, an overhead will be more time consume and due to cost not a viable option.

Sonamji is working on something more sustainable

Haven’t watched that video, but yes.

Ultimately tunnels needn’t be underground only, they can be over ground too.
