India and the Western Media.
The Western media are profoundly anti-Indian. First, we imagined that it is the work of local reporters posted in India; but now it is becoming clear that the media reporters write what they are told to write by higher ups e.g. the Chief Diplomatic Correspondent of opinion maker media outlets of The New York Times or the Washington Post etc. They in fact are in touch with their governments. The same is true of all the British media outlets like the BBC, the Economist, the Guardian etc.
All these media outlets have local representatives who are tasked to concentrate more on the negative aspect of India’s rapid economic advancement and or all negative aspects of India’s diversity and ethnicity.
It has gone on 75 years since the British were ejected and India became neutral in international affairs. At that time, India was economically weak and the West was making fun of India’s low rate of progress. A real effort to improve relations with the West was made from 1998 to 2004 by the Vajpayee government. That lead to a bit of smiles on both sides, but it did not last long. The second real effort came from right wing Modi government. PM, Modi launched a charm offensive in America and invited Presidents Obama and Trump to India with great fanfare. The Hope was that improved relations will result. It had some good impact, but the major media outlets like the NYT misinterpreted the charm offensive by advertising to hire an anti Modi reporter(s) in Delhi.
Any self respecting nation will take this to be an offense and would eject all relevant reporters out, but India did not take that step and allowed anti Modi hiring in Delhi. All this happened before even the Ukraine war started. In addition India supported US move to set up QUAD in Indo-Pacific region to check the Chinese ambitions. The US was pleased.
The shrillness of the anti India propaganda in US multiplied several times as India took a neutral stand on Ukrainian War. The NATO/Americans are to be equally blamed for this war as they cleverly wished to reach the Russian border via Ukraine. That is a no-no in international relations. Now purchases of cheap Russian oil by India is not sitting well US.
For the British; they preferred India at the bottom of the barrel, but nay; India has passed economically the Britons with $3.5 Trillion economy. That fact does not sit well with them. In fact India is the fourth largest economy in 2022.
It is not only the large media outlets which lead anti-India reporting, but officially inspired social media with sinister intents have been posting bad to worst about India. On the other hand they ignore their own mass shootings or other racial and minority incidents in the US. A few bulldozer incidents which have a dramatic impact on miscreants who will burn or loot or occupy others property have been highlighted without telling that the sight of a bulldozer has a dramatic impact on calming miscreants and their leaders.
Such are ways, how propaganda works in the West, although they call it free press/media.
