BEIJING: Buoyed by the "optimism" over the new Indian government's moves to improve ties with Pakistan and China, Beijing apparently is exploring a trilateral security cooperation with its two neighbours. Seen as a significant initiative, journalists of the influential Global Times an affiliate of the ruling Communist Party of China's (CPC) People's Daily publication group recently visited Pakistan and sought the views of a possible India-China- Pakistan trilateral cooperation with the scholars of Islamabad Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS) . Titled "How will the trilateral relationship between China, India and Pakistan develop in the future? Are joint mechanisms possible?", the daily today carried mixed views of Pakistani analysts who welcomed such a move with concerns over increase in India's defence capabilities. Analysts here see it a significant initiative by China as it seeks to push its relations with India in the backdrop of common concerns over withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan and the potential destabilising effect it will have in the region, specially Xinjiang where Chinese security forces are dealing with rising attacks by the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM). China recently held talks with India, Russia and Pakistan over Afghanistan. Like India, China too is saddled with militant infiltration from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) . Several ETIM Militants were reportedly killed in the ongoing Pakistan military operation in the tribal areas. "So far no formal trilateral meeting has taken place, but the idea sounds excellent," Najam Rafique, senior IISS research fellow told the daily about the joint trilateral mechanism.

On the basis that the same militants are killing Indians, Chinese, and Pakistanis?
first things first, indian army does not believe in working with terrorists to kill militants so pak army is out of equation. (they like to dress up as mujhaideen terrorists when undertaking operations against india) not trolling its a fact.

a joint sino-india operation might be possible.

That comes under Anti Terror co operation. China should accept the current border line and give autonomy to Tibet then peace will prevail.

Ball is in the court of China to respond, One cannot be a trouble maker and at the same time explore for joint security mechanism in Asia.

China thinks neighbors are fools and will ignore its actions, Chinese dubious nature is well known.

After US withdrawal every one knows India with Afg as a base will teach a lesson to China in Xinxiang and Paki honeymoon period will start
As far as Ind (kahsmir) we are facing from 1989 on daily basis if pakis didn't send infiltrators our forces feel bored :pound:
Why would India meddle with China??

In Afghanistan India and China will work together but India's role will be more in rebuilding Afghanistan.

These Pakis are training terrorists and these filthy bastard terrorists are killing innocent chinese and Indians.

After training these filthy monster them pakis deserve to die but alas! main culprit's family is living in some european country or amreeka.

It would be fun if son and daughters of these paki generals would have been killed in some suicide bombing.

So peace is not possible until this pakjabi army is strip off from it's power....

But things are peaceful on a state-to-state level as it is now, so why should China need to do anything?

Whatever China has done on its maritime flank, China isn't a troublemaker in South or Central Asia.

I do not know what those basic principles are, but I know there are five of them.

The highlighted part is an absurd!

Where was China with this proposal when infiltration in Kashmir was at it's peak? Why the sudden concern?

China suddenly seems worried about all of this after only a few terrorist attacks on it's soil.

India, meanwhile has become quite experienced in dealing with counter-insurgency.

I was making a sarcastic reference to the Panchasheel. As India and China grow stronger, they hold less and less relevance for their respective governments.

Possibly, China can be trusted by Indians BUT....to trust Pakis is very very hard ..due to their past betrayal....making a peace deal with Mr.Vajpai and within weeks...infiltrating Paki soldiers in terrorist dress and creating Kargil war.....Pakis can be back stabbers...how do you trust them.?

You know the reason of Pakistan's being?

China is pretty delusional in its expectation. While I don't trust both Pak & China one bit, there is a chance that India & China could live together but the Pakis were born to hate India. Having a security pact with Pak is like getting yourself in a room full of snakes hoping to stay secure

China should take a hike including Pakistan who might be piggy backing China to get India into this over ambitious security mechanism loop.

It is always going to be India controlling and initiating the narrative of its security needs and dealing with China and Pakistan bilaterally.

Actually, the terrorists operating against India is very different from the terrorists operating in Pakistan and China.

The terrorist operating against Pakistan are homgrown and are actually insurgent (fighting against their own country), religion motivated or otherwise.

The terrorist operating against India, are foreign sponsored and their home base and safe haven and training areas is in the neighbourhood.

The terrorists against China are homegrown and they are fighting for religious freedom and independent statehood and have no similarity to those of either Pakistan or India.

Where is the commonality?

That all are Muslims?

Muslims have a varied ethnic composition and are not similar.
