Barack Obama to visit Asia Pacific region, may meet Narendra Modi - Economic Times

WASHINGTON: President Barack Obama will travel to China, Myanmar and Australia next week during a six-day trip to attend a series of key multilateral and bilateral meetings with foreign leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He will attend APEC Summit in Beijing (November 10-12), East Asia Summit and US ASEAN Summit in Myanmar (November 12-14) and G-20 Leaders Summit in Brisbane, Australia (November 15-16), a White House statement said.

Obama and Modi could have a bilateral meeting either in Myanmar or Australia and get a chance to review the progress made in the bilateral ties after their maiden meeting at the White House on September 30, sources said....

Chinese Paper Blasts Obama Ahead of Visit

Just days before President Barack Obama travels to China for a regional summit, a prominent, state-run paper there is accusing him of being an ineffective leader who has done an "insipid" job in office.

The editorial in the Global Times was published just hours before Obama's Democratic Party lost control of the U.S. Senate, meaning the rival Republican Party now controls both houses of Congress.

The Times, whose editorials often reflect the views of China's Communist Party, said Obama has not lived up to the expectations of his supporters and that "U.S. society has grown tired of his banality."

Obama will travel to Beijing next week for an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, where he is expected to hold one-on-one meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping....

The drubbing the Democrats have received in the recent polls has made Obama wake up from his reverie and pretending to be Goody Two Shoes.

He is trying to show he is a 'tough' President.

He is also sending 1500 US soldiers to Iraq to boost the strength of the trainers out there.

This weekend President Obama departs for a long-awaited trip to Asia, packing in four summits with some of the world's most important leaders and a state visit to China. The first stop will be the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in China, the next will include the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and the East Asia Summit (EAS) in Burma, and the final stop will be the G-20 Summit in Australia. During his last trip to Asia in April, Obama described his foreign policy in limited terms: "You hit singles; you hit doubles; every once in a while we may be able to hit a home run," he said. This trip to Asia offers him an opportunity to play ball and bring home some needed wins.....
