10 Inf Div Raised

Stay ready to protect constitution, sovereignty, PM to army

Another division of Army to be established in Patuakhali, she says

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday asked the members of Bangladesh Army to always stay alert to face any kind of internal and external threat, and thus safeguard the country’s sacred constitution and sovereignty.
The prime minister said this while addressing the flag-hoisting function of seven units, including the 2 Infantry Brigade of 10 Infantry Division of the army, at Ramu Cantonment.
Pointing to the landmark CHT Peace accord and winning the maritime boundary cases with Myanmar and India, Hasina said her government has established Ramu Cantonment to protect sea resources as well as maintain peace and stability in the CHT region.
The prime minister said a significant number of modern vehicles, helicopters and arms and ammunition have been inducted in the Bangladesh Army for further boosting its capability and efficiency.
“In its continuation, there’s a plan to establish another division of Bangladesh Army at Lebukhali in Patuakhali to make well-protected our southern frontier… and this how we’ll build Bangladesh Army as a more time-befitting force through speedy and coordinated modernisation Insha Allah," she said.
Describing the Bangladesh Army as a symbol of the confidence and trust of people, she also directed its members to be more professionally efficient and welfare-minded with social and religious values.
Hasina also advised them to discharge their responsibility by maintaining discipline and keeping trust in the senior leadership.
She said the flags of the seven units, including the 2 Infantry Brigade of the 10 Infantry Division were raised today to give a complete shape to the 10 Infantry Division.
The prime minister said the approval has been given to set up a cantonment public school inside the Ramu Cantonment. “The establishment of the Ramu Cantonment has created a hope among people of this region,” she remarked.
Paying rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the prime minister said Bangbandhu had realised the necessity of a “developed” and “professional” army.
Pointing out her government's aim to establish a prosperous and developed Bangladesh, she said the country has set an example in achieving millennium development goals. "The same way, we all have to work together to implement the sustainable development goals," she said.
Earlier, on her arrival at the parade ground of the Ramu Cantonment, the prime minister was received by Chief of Army Staff General Abu Belal Mohammad Shafiul Huq and GOC of the 10 Infantry Division Major General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan.
A smartly turned-out contingent of the 10 Infantry Division gave a state salute to the prime minister.
She also inaugurated a road being constructed by the 10 Infantry Division named ‘Bir Sarani, a memorial, ‘Ajeyo’, commemorating the division, a multipurpose shade ‘Birangan’ and a composite barrack named ‘Matamuhuri’ built at Alikadom cantonment.
Sheikh Hasina also laid the foundation stones of four SM Barracks to be constructed at the Ramu Cantonment.
Ministers, PM's Security Adviser Major General (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, MPs and senior civil and military officials were present on the occasion.

What a shame this is the same Chinese who refused to recognize Bangladesh in 1971 ...Now that same Bangladesh running to them to buy anything and everything ...

1.What a shame India is having the closest relations with Britain, the same British who has been massacring people in SA beside causing famines and economic disaster. What a shame!!
2. China helps us many fields without imposing conditions or breast-thumping. Our ties with China and the Muslim world is pivotal to our national security. These are not India targeted but are pragmatic policies we need to follow to maintain our sovereignty.

Sir,most of the time they are anti India except Bangladeshi Hindus and other secular Musalman supporter of Awami League so this is no surprise on top of it Chinese are known for cheap military tech which it export to 3rd world countries.

Pak (55 %),Bangladesh and Myanmar (20 %) accounts for 75 % of total chini Defense export.

Majority of Bangladeshis are anti Indian .. they were always been like... It was Indira Gandhi's mistake in helping them...

Do not make mistake in thinking Awami League as secular ... They are the true decedents of Muslim League... Sk Mujib did not wanted to separate from Pakistan until it become inevitable ...

Sk Mujib was PA to Sherwardy who was responsible for great Calcutta killings...

India has a nor good nor bad relationship ... There was a time when the same British refused to sell Tornado fighter jets to India now you see they come begging to sell Eurofighter...

Indian do not care about British ...

Chinese help come without conditions ? whom do you want to fool ? Very recently the same Chinese lost to Japanese for Indian High Speed Rail project... Chinese come with the conditions that that one have to buy from Chinese companies...

Japanese are the best when comes to giving help...

Which Muslim country will come to you help ? Saudia ? they stoped taking Bangladeshi workers...

Bangladesh fate is with "Hindu" India and "Buddhist" Myanmar... There is no escape from it...

They have the same MBT 2000 in service with BD and Pak with different stuff inside but since they have good relation with Israel and Russia they have better option for upgrade than BD.

India also donated few T 55 to them in Past.

I do not want to go off topic: @mods may delete my post if it wants ...

Shurawardy and its Muslim League wanted two cities in Pakistan ... Lahore and Calcutta [Kolkata]... We were lucky to save Calcutta... Shurawardy and its political party of hate [ Hate for humanity] wanted top drive out Hindus from Calcutta through "Direct Action" organizing mass killing of Hindus... that is a long story... may require another thread for discussions...

My argument was Indira Gandhi should have left the Bengali Muslims to be raped and killed by their Panjabi masters... slow and painful death for the traitors...

That same Shurawardy was made traitor in Pakistan...

Interesting read: http://www.dawn.com/news/1195290

Excerpts :

“Late Huseyn Suhrawardy was the man who fought his way to bring Bengal on the map of Pakistan; to achieve this objective he got a resolution passed by the Legislators’ Convention. As Chief Minister of United Bengal, he supported and served Muslims during the riots to such a degree that Hindus in Bengal would never put his role out of their minds. Not only this, but for the whole duration of Pakistan Movement, he had been the Secretary-General of Muslim League Bengal and an active member of the Party.”

Yes, it is so advanced that PLA doesn't even buy it.

Arjun Mk-1, T-90S and T-90M are the most capable and well-supported MBTs in South Asia, and we have altogether 2,000+ of them.

The 40-odd MBT-2Ks you have or the few hundred Al-Khalid and T-80UD the pakis have doesn't change anything.

China is too smart. They had found only two outlets for those junks -- scrap market and Bangladesh. They chose B'desh. Why? It earned them better price along with gratitude.
