The US used to be the Indispensable Nation. However, it looks like China has taken over the US role.

A good example is China-Pakistan trade. As late as 2009, US trade with Pakistan matched China-Pakistan trade.

However, last year, China-Pakistan trade ($15 billion) was three times larger than US-Pakistan trade ($5 billion). [See Bloomberg article below]

I suspect China's trade with most countries in the world is similar to the situation with Pakistan. Most countries in the world (including the United States) are seeing booming growth in their trade with China.

The reason for ever-increasing trade with China can most easily be seen on BangGood.com.

BangGood.com is a Chinese company that sells over 150,000 products. I think all of the products are Chinese. You'll notice that most of the reviews by buyers are written in English or a non-Chinese language. People all over the world are buying affordable goods from BangGood.com.

There is no point in having money if you can't buy whatever you want at a reasonable price. China fills that worldwide demand. Thus, China's economic trade keeps on booming. This means China's economic and political influence should continue to grow (like in Pakistan).

"China's economic ties with Pakistan give it more clout than the United States."
