Japan takes historic step from post-war pacifism, OKs fighting for allies | News | GMA News Online

TOKYO - Japan took a historic step away from its post-war pacifism on Tuesday by ending a ban that has kept the military from fighting abroad since 1945, a victory for Prime Minister Shinzo Abe but a move that has riled China and worries many Japanese voters.

The new policy has angered an increasingly assertive China, whose ties with Japan have frayed due to a maritime row, mistrust and the legacy of Japan's past military aggression.

"China opposes the Japanese fabricating the China threat to promote its domestic political agenda," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei told a news conference in Beijing.

"We demand that Japan respect the reasonable security concerns of its Asian neighbors and prudently handle the relevant matter."

Japan is now showing what it is worth.

It surely is not anti China.

It is just that Japan wants to be self reliant in its own defence.

It would be wrong to feel otherwise.

Did any country complain that China was modernising their military and was a threat to Asia and beyond?

Thats great. Time to forget what happened 60 years ago. Actually, China is the biggest threat to peace in Asia and India, Japan can act as balancing measures.

Japan's embargo was self imposed and if they want to reconsider it, its their right. Both China and Japan are responsible nations, they will not go to war with eachother.

China is not a responsible nation. More like a bully who keeps poking at all the neighbours, even Japan.

China is the trouble maker in Asia. China is the reason for militarization in Asia.

No it's Good news for India, i feel US &Jpn want to push India-Chi into war (Chi needs war for their internal unrest&legitimacy of CCP) but our politicians, may be stupids but never ever try to provoke China (WTF PLA enter India territory made tents and our FM went to China and praise beijing :frusty:).

Now it's popcorn time Chi vs US,Jp,Viet,Ph&Ind

I don't think there will ever be a war but yes border shootouts and rounding of intruding soldiers is possible in the future. Even the small Vietnam sent its ships ramming into PLA coast guard gunboats and sent them back. If they can do that with such limited resources, then I think we are simply underestimating ourselves.

China needs assets against US and its internal turmoil.

We will never attack them them but that doesn't mean that we can take it lying low when they come into our territory. I take it that the MOD under the current premiership is working to end this problem permanently. A small skirmish would start and then stop and only leave a sour taste. But there must be something strategic that would be kept on the table and ask the Chinese to stop doing this.

As for Japan, The Samurai has woken up. Rising Sun flag will rise and Indo-Japanese relations will blossom once again as they did under Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose:

I doubt India will ever engage in a US-led dog and pony show.

South China Sea is not our region.

If there's ever a conflict with China in the IOR, none of the nations you mentioned will ever back us.

Yes, a loyal dog of US. In the past, its master just required its money, now its blood.

It surely is not anti China.
Of course not, China is still not on the top of its master's enemy list.

It is just that Japan wants to be self reliant in its own defence.

Well, Japanese public doesn't think so.

Did any country complain that China was modernising their military and was a threat to Asia and beyond?
You are funny.

Just like China was a loyal dog of the USSR.

But China is worse/.

They leeched on to USSR, got everything from them and then betrayed like a disloyal dog.

The dog analogy is based on your calling countries dogs.

Japan is still is loyal~! ;)

Of course not, China is still not on the top of its master's enemy list.
Really?

Well, Japanese public doesn't think so.
so, you are a Japanese now and you speak for Japanese!

You are funny.

The truth appears funny to the Chinese, who have been fed CCP propaganda of contrived lies?
