Pakistan: Second attack targeting Shias kills 22

At least 22 people, mostly children, were killed and 40 injured when a suicide bomber targeted a Muharram procession in Jacobabad in Pakistan's Sindh province, on Saturday. Just a day earlier, a suicide bomber, disguised as a woman, targeted a Shia mosque in the southwestern Balochistan province, killing at least 10 people.

"We were some three kilometers from the spot and heard the blast. We rushed towards the spot and saw people running here and there, some were crying and wailing. We could see blood on the clothes of some people," said Jan Odhano, an eye witness and rights activist in the city to AFP. The dead and the injured have been shifted to the Civil Hospital in Jacobabad, where an emergency-like situation has been declared.

The suicide bomber is reported to have attacked a Shia procession of over 300 people, including children and women, who were passing through a six-feet wide alley. Soon after the attacks, angry protestors took to the streets throwing stones at policemen and burning vehicles. They complained that not enough was being done to protect the minority Shias.

Although Thursday's attack was later claimed by a Sunni Muslim militant group, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, no group has yet claimed responsibility for Friday's bombing. A Jacobabad police official, Malik Zafar Iqbal Awan, who is overseeing the investigation, told the Dawn, "Police have recovered lower part of the body of the possible suicide bomber from the site which may give us some leads."

The attack came despite extra security measures in the run-up to the Ashura festival significant for Shia Muslims. Mobile services had been jammed after Thursday's attack itself and check posts have been increased since then.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who is on a scheduled visit to the US, has expressed "deep grief and sorrow" over the attack, and ordered a special investigation into the incident. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah also strongly condemned the blast and expressed a deep sense of sorrow.

Any group claimed responsibility yet? I hope ISIS does. Sharif will start crying.

Kill kaffirs. When kaffirs are gone, kill the muhajirs.

That in a nutshell is plight of minorities in Pakistan.
why don't shia and ahmedia ask for a separate nation and we must support them

Let's give them taste of their own medicine

Shias already have a political movement in Pak. The Pakjabis turn a blind eye when it comes to protecting Shias and even facilitate their genocide if it suits them.

These are the kind of people that have the audacity to comment on ink throwing incidents in India. It is hilarious hypocrisy for Indians and sad reality for non Pakjabi Pakis.

Heart of darkness: Shia resistance and revival in Pakistan

Abdul Khaliq Hazara’s face exudes what Mariabad has become a symbol for — compassion that is rooted in suffering. He narrates the story of a June 8, 2003, terrorist attack on a police van on Quetta’s Sariab Road. All 13 police cadets killed in that attack were young Hazaras, many of them from Mariabad. After that incident, says Khaliq, his kind face glistening with anger, we had no choice but to launch a political party of the Hazaras for the Hazaras by the Hazaras.

A month later, he, his friend Hussain Ali Yousafi and other political activists from their community launched the Hazara Democratic Party (HDP). In January 2009, militants of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LJ) killed Yousafi, then chairman of the party. Since then, Khaliq has taken over, fighting a two-way battle — one inside his own community over what he calls their erroneous ways of protesting and the other against the state which fails very regularly to provide them protection.

When members of his community took over Alamdar Road with the coffins of their loved ones in 2013, he, along with a few others, observed a hunger strike for three days on the same road, though at a different venue. “Would they have stayed there with the corpses if the weather was hot?” he asks, expecting an answer but knowing it does not matter.

It was not the first time that Khaliq had separated himself from other Shia protesters. In 1984, Quetta witnessed its first Shia uprising when Tehreek Nifaz-e-Fiqh Jafriya (TNFJ) rallied here against General Ziaul Haq’s moves to enforce a state-supported Sharia in Pakistan and put forward a 14-point charter of demands which included abolishing the police’s power to revoke licences for Muharram processions. Khaliq was a college student then and a member of the Hazara Student Federation. He, however, did not take part in the TNFJ protest that, in an unintended endorsement of his boycott, resulted in the death of six policemen. He warned against the dire consequences of raising sectarian boundaries too high to scale for anyone trying to remain within the national mainstream. “In a country with only 20 per cent Shia population, how would it work to have the state enforce Shia jurisprudence? It will only make matters worse.” Thirty years later, his apprehensions are becoming a self-fulfilling prophesy.

Pakis even cover up their lack of civic administration that caused heatwave deaths in Karachi by blaming India , so not surprising that every security failure in Pak automatically becomes a RAW saazish.

Hot air from Rajasthan power plants may have fanned Karachi heatwave

http://www.dawn.com/news/1190312

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Climate Change Senator Mushahidullah Khan has said that the coal-powered plants in Rajasthan, India, could have contributed to the deadly Karachi heat wave.

“Trans-boundary pollution is a worldwide concern. We will investigate,” he said at a National Clean Development Mechanism Programme event here on Wednesday.

In the minister’s view “a fallout effect of the coal-powered plants, in combination with other abnormal climate change events, possibly added to the already warm temperatures” in bordering Sindh.

“If our findings say so, the ministry will raise the concern with the United Nations,” he said, adding that his office was gathering information on the problem.
