Apparently the Saudis don't know anything about force protection or recon. An advance scout, a drone overhead or something should have alerted them that an ambush was ahead.

Tips to avoid convoy ambushes :

1) Travel in small formations like 4 - 5.

2) Have a cordon of drones monitor the situation.

3) Use satellite imagery and forward recon to map out the area and enemy build up.

4) Have air support nearby if required to lay down CAS. Attack helicopters, Light Turboprop Trainers / Jet Trainers, choppers modified with rockets and 20mm machine guns will do.

5) If the point vehicle gets hit, stop and use RWS/HMG/grenade launcher to suppress attackers and look for cover.

6) Disembark troops and use mortars, grenade launchers, RPGs, HMG, LMG to clear out enemy hard points.

7) Set up FCR and locate targets for CAS and/or portable 105 mm mounted artillery.

8) Spread out! Move steadily and force enemy to break encampment.

9) If you're a Paki ******, ignore above and surrender for Biryani and Chicken Korma at your PoW camp, courtesy of Saudi Field Catering!
