No dearth of Jaichands in our country. BSF DG says State Govt assisting in settling BDs and rohingyas in WB.
This is the policy of Mamata govt in WB. This same policy was practised by Jyoti-Buddha of CPI(M). In fact, many years back, CPI and Jyoti had supported partition of India. Not only that CPI had provided its members to work for Muslim League before partition.

What happened is that after partitions many Hindus from East Pakistan/ Bangladesh came to West Bengal. Jabaharlal-Congress did not care for these Hindu Bengali Refugees and the left parties lapped them up. The Hindu Bengali Refugees had no option other than aligning with Left in Bengal. Gradually all Bengal became left!

The Bengalis of WB will have to pay price for this and they have started to pay also, as when Muslims run one-sided riot under the patronage of TMC, Hindus have nowhere to go!

This sad state of affairs raises one question in me though: Is there no provision in Indian Law/ Constititution that can take any CM to task if he/she or his/her party settles illegal immigrants in any state?

On the other side of this issue, the DG of BSF may say anything he pleases, we know the role BSF has played over the years to settle illegal immigrants (Bangaldeshi Muslims) in WB and India. There the responsibility lies with Central Govt of successive years.

But this thread is for Assam!

Its not Left/Liberal at work. I guess this is the notorious US based Avaaz civil rights group(jihadi) group who supported uprising in Syria and Libya. Brother of the Ummah.

Four terrorists having alleged links to Hizbul Mujahideen have been arrested by security personnel in Assam in what is one of the biggest crackdown on the terror organization. It comes three days after the Uttar Pradesh ATS managed to get hold of Qamar-uz-Zaman from Kanpur, which brought out the further arrests.

Omar Farooque, Shahnawaz Alam, Saidul Alam and Saiful Islam, alais Liton, were arrested by police forces over the past 48 hours in Assam. One of the four arrested, Saiful Islam alais Liton, is the elder brother of Qamar uz Zaman, who was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh ATS on September 12.

Police sources have revealed that Omar Farooque was given Rs 30,000 by Qamer Uz Zaman as expense to work for the Hizbul. It is also reported that Omar had confessed about the money from Qamer, as well as giving him shelter during his visit to Assam.

On Saturday, a team of Lucknow ATS had arrived in Guwahati before leaving for Hojai and Meghalaya. They investigated Qamer's link in the region. Prior to this on Friday, the Police had also confirmed that Shahnawaz Alam, who is a friend of Qamer Uz Zaman, was being radicalized by him and he was planning to flee from the state to join the terrorist organization.

This all stems after Uttar Pradesh ATS arrested Qamar-uz-Zaman from Kanpur. Speaking about his arrest, DGP of UP Police, OP Singh said, "ATS has arrested a Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist from Kanpur. He apparently had plans to attack on occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. During questioning he told us that he had gone for training to Kashmir in April 2017. He is of Indian nationality & is a literate person"

Soon after his arrest, Qamar's mother asked for strictest of punishment against her son. She said, "Any child who goes against the country is of no use. Birthplace is Assam, we live in Assam and if that boy goes against Assam, I don't want him. The administration can do whatever they want. Kill him, lynch him, I don't have any objection. I have only one thing to say, I don't want him."

Qamer Uz Zaman, alias Dr. Hurairah, a most-wanted Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist, was arrested from Kanpur on September 12. Qamer hails from the Hojai district of Assam. He reportedly joined the terror outfit in 2017 at which point he stopped contacting his family.

Instead of an estimated 1.5 crores foreigners in Assam, this exercise of NRC in Assam has enabled to take only 40 lakh people of Assam for declaring them as non Indian citizens,’ lamented Sri Dev in an interview published in a social media platform.'

The Issue of Settling Outsiders in Assam Started from the Time of Partition of Bengal

Senior journalist Kuldip Nayar has died recently. A few days before his death, his last article was published, which was centered on Assam’s situation. In that he had written that, once the Congress leader, Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, who was also the President, confessed that Muslims were brought from Bangladesh for casting votes in Assam. According to him, the Congress deliberately did this because it wanted to keep Assam with them, but this is not the only truth. The problem of settling the outsiders in Assam started in 1905 when the partition of Bengal occurred. Then, with British encouragement, a large number of Bengali Muslims started from East Bengal to a very fertile Brahmaputra valley.

Indeed, Assam’s area was very fertile, but a large part of the land was not being used. The reason for this was that the population of these areas was very low. On the other hand, the only goal of the British Raj was to exploit the maximum amount of natural resources and to generate maximum revenue from farming. In such a situation, the people from densely populated East Bengal started migrating to the fertile land of Assam for agriculture and cultivating land on fallow land. The British called this a line system. It was all right, but the Muslim leaders of East Bengal began to use these circumstances for Islamic expansionism. When Bengal was partitioned in 1905, the Muslim League formed in Dhaka in 1906 had begun to ask Muslims of East Bengal to settle in Assam. Simultaneously, communalization began to happen.

In the decade of 1930, the situation was so horrific that the British government’s demographic officials began to believe in its report that Assam has been a victim of demographic aggression that would eliminate Assamese culture. It became a political issue in the 1930s. In 1937, the Congress government, led by Gopinath Bordoloi, came to power with the promise to stop the settlement of the Muslim population. Being a nationalist leader, Bordoloi made sincere efforts in that direction, but in 1939 the Congress high command decided to resign from its state governments in protest of British policies.

In view of this settlement of Muslims continuing in Assam and due to the situation arising out of this, many Congress leaders such as Subhash Chandra Bose and Bordoloi intended that they should not resign from the Congress government in Assam and the Bordoloi government should be allowed to engage in the prevention of the arrivals of Muslim population from East Bengal, however, Assam was not a priority for Congress high command. The Bordoloi government was also made to resign like other state governments.

Because of this decision, the Muslim League got an opportunity to form the government in Assam, which it used to implement its Islamic Extensionist agenda. The Muslim League government allocated more than one lakh bighas of land to Muslims coming from East Bengal. The result of this was that the Muslim population in lower Assam was 14% in 1901 and it rose to 32% in 1941. As a result, the Muslim League started demanding to include Assam in East Pakistan. By now Gandhi had understood that there was a big mistake in case of Assam. He believed that Subhash Chandra Bose was correct in opposing the Congress government’s resignation in Assam in 1939.

In Assam, since 1944, the severity of the situation can be estimated from the fact that Gandhiji had declared, settling the people of East Bengal in Assam, as anti-national activity. He even said that, if required then both non-violent or violent ways must be adopted to handle this situation. Even after this the Congress high command was not serious about the situation of Assam.

Before partitioning the country, the Cabinet Mission sent by the British in 1946 placed Assam with the Muslim-majority Bengal in Group C, which meant, practically Assam to be included in East Pakistan. In early hurry to gain independence, Congress was ready for this compromise also. In such a situation, Bordoloi asked Gandhiji for help. Gandhiji told Bordoloi that it should be strongly opposed to prevent Assam from being included in Pakistan and induction of Assam into Group C. If necessary, then the Assam Congress leaders should open revolt against the Congress. Excited by this support, Bordoloi remained firm on this cause and both the British government and the Congress had to bow down.

Bordoloi saved Assam from going to Pakistan, but after independence as chief minister, when he tried to remove the intruders, he had to face the opposition of Prime Minister Nehru. On one occasion Nehru was angry and threatened to stop the state from getting help from the Center. The responsibility of the stopping cross-border infiltration comes under the Centre, but the Nehru government was not serious about it. Pakistan, on the other hand, never left a plan to include Assam in East Pakistan. Later Bangladesh adopted the same scheme.

In 1991, well-known thinker of Bangladesh, Sadik Khan gave ‘Lebensraum’ theory by writing article in Holiday Magazine. Under it, it was emphasized that the growing population of Bangladesh should be spread in a planned manner in West Bengal and seven states of the North-east India. If you look at the lower Assam, between 1971 and 2011, the Muslim population increased by 15 percent to 45 percent. In 1906 also Muslim League planned to make this region Muslim majority. Parties opposing the NRC prepared on the Supreme Court directive, and especially the Trinamool Congress should tell that why they want to continue the work of division of the country, which was started by the Muslim League?

A very good article that covers a lot of history. It again shows how Gandhi-Nehru boot-licker politicans succeeded against true patriots like Subhash Chandra Bose. Since Indians collectively could not do justice to their real patriotic leaders, time is coming when Indians have to pay price for that. Those guys who sit in the comfort of their homes in states that did not have to go through pain and injustice of partition and throw bullshit at patriotic people who became refugees by Nehru-Gandhi boot-licker politicians will one day be left with licking their own wounds. If that happens, I will rejoice. I rejoice anyway.

Another thing is what is happening in Assam currently (and what has happened in Assam in last many decades). I saw some videos from Assamese Media and surprisingly I could understand 80% of Assamese language. Basically assamese leaders and assamese intellectuals are throwing a lot of shit at Bengali Hindus- that is their work style. They basically want Hindu Bengalis to be ousted from Assam. The same Hindu Bengalis who stayed in areas of Assam like Shilchar for decades, often from pre-independence time and sometimes even from middle ages or earlier. I can well understand the reason/ politics behind this. Bengali Hindus learnt English earlier and occupied coveted posts in Assam in British era (as they had done in other parts of India, especially north india). Assamese people did not take that well and they don't want any competition for "their" land, jobs etc. And politicians are always there to make merry. So those feelings and wrong politics are coming to the logical conclusions. I wish Assamese the best. As for Bengali Hindu people, they have to pay the price for their own karma and the way things are happening, I expect Bengali Hindus to become what the situation of jews has been in Europe/ USA. Bus since Bengalis despite all their faults are emotional in nature and are ruled by heart, I do not expect Bengalis to become as successful as jews! :D

Sure, I will provide an answer. This question is flawed. TMC and Mamata are an external entity to Assam. They can do zilch to Assam.

The right question is why rather than blaming only TMC, Mamata and Muslim League, the reporters and educated Indians (for a change) blame Chacha, Duratma, Secular Clown Assamese leaders and all Indians in general (because smug indians sitting at their homes and their previous equally great granddads could not do justice to real patriotic leaders like Rasbihari Bose or Subhash Chandra Bose)!

I have not found any reason why the cut-off date for NRC must be 1971. Why not 1947? And why the assamese clown leaders settled for such a pact (Assam Accord) with the glorious Gandhi (I mean Rajiv Gandhi :D)

BJP played the religious card when it came to NRC and Congress played the cultural card. Now among this, the cultural card would always play a bigger hand. Its not about job and opportunity for people in NE. Opportunities were never created in this part of India and people were getting much free money to ever worried about job creation.

The issue was losing the cultural identity. Assamese culture is not a single unified culture like Bengali. It has its many subbranches and divided into many sects. For example the festival of Bihu itself is celebrated in around 15 different ways. Tribes and subtribes in itself constitutes about 60% of Assamese culture and every tribe has its own culture and it too differs in sub tribes. So when you induce another culture like Bengali, which is more vast and expansionist in nature, there is a serious danger of the smaller culture to loose its roots. One may dismiss this as a mere fear mongering, but it has shown its effect in Tripura. Tripura has lost its cultural identity to Bengali. It has even lost its Kokborok language to more stronger Bengali. It has seen its share of rise in extremism because of this. This is one reason why ILP has been implemented in three states of NE.

As far as Assam Accord is concerned, you have to know about the Assam Andolan. It was signed in 1985 after a 6 year of unrest. The base year has been decided as 1961, not 1971. Post 1970 India had seen a huge influx in bengali refugees from erstwhile East Pakistan. The civil unrest happened after this in 1979. So in short let me present salient facts about Assam Accord.

What is Assam Accord?

  • The Assam Accord (1985) was a Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) signed between representatives of the Government of India and the leaders of the Assam Movement in New Delhi on 15 August 1985.
  • The accord brought an end to the Assam Agitation and paved the way for the leaders of the agitation to form a political party and form a government in the state of Assam soon after.
  • Some of the key demands were – All those foreigners who had entered Assam between 1951 and 1961 were to be given full citizenship, including the right to vote.
  • Those who had done so after 1971 were to be deported; the entrants between 1961 and 1971 were to be denied voting rights for ten years but would enjoy all other rights of citizenship.
  • A parallel package for the economic development of Assam, including a second oil refinery, a paper mill and an institute of technology, was also worked out.
  • The central government also promised to provide ‘legislative and administrative safeguards to protect the cultural, social, and linguistic identity and heritage’ of the Assamese people.
  • Though the accord brought an end to the agitation, some of the key clauses are yet to be implemented, which has kept some of the issues festering.

I do not know where people were getting free money from but when opportunities are less, the son of the soils generally crib about the outsiders. Would like to know more on how assamese people were getting free money.

- And the Assam Students Union (and by extension assamese people) accepted the cultural card. The only problem with this is that Bengali Muslim culture is not the same as Bengali Hindu culture- the almighty quoran will make its presence felt. That is one of my points- Congress is anyway known for it secular policies, but assamese people also went by same secular policies. And to me Assam Accord is a faulty accord based on the poison of secularism.

My opinion is simple. Assam Accord itself is flawed. You guys had an opportunity to evict all illegal immigrants who entered assam from East Pakistan/ Bangladesh after 1947 or 1951. But you settled for 1971.

As per the accord, all people who came to Assam prior to January 1, 1966, would be given citizenship. Those who moved in between January 1, 1966, and March 24, 1971, would be “detected in accordance with the provisions of the Foreigners Act, 1946 and the Foreigners (Tribunals) Order 1964”. And according to the current status of NRC, about 40 lac people are "detected" to have entered assam after 1971. If you had taken the cut-off date for entering assam to be 1947, at least 1.5 crore Bengali Muslims could be evicted from Assam. You have lost that chance. So your culture is at stake already.

On the other hand, there are many instances where all family members have got their names registered in NRC but the head of family's name has been missing. There are instances where both parents have got registered under NRC but their only daughter's name is missing. There are also instances where Hindu Bengalis were living in assam for 150-200 years, and yet their family members' names are missing. This clearly points to a "bug" in the system that is keeping Bengali Hindu families outside NRC even when they are legit as per assam accord. And that is where the theory comes that assamese people will be happier if Bengali Hindus are driven out irrespective of whether those Bengali Hindus are legit or not as per assam accord/ NRC. And I have gone through videos from assamese media on this and the shrill voices from those assamese videos give credence to this theory. (I could understand 80% of assamese btw!)


What is Assam Accord?

  • The Assam Accord (1985) was a Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) signed between representatives of the Government of India and the leaders of the Assam Movement in New Delhi on 15 August 1985.
  • The accord brought an end to the Assam Agitation and paved the way for the leaders of the agitation to form a political party and form a government in the state of Assam soon after.
  • Some of the key demands were – All those foreigners who had entered Assam between 1951 and 1961 were to be given full citizenship, including the right to vote.
  • Those who had done so after 1971 were to be deported; the entrants between 1961 and 1971 were to be denied voting rights for ten years but would enjoy all other rights of citizenship.
  • A parallel package for the economic development of Assam, including a second oil refinery, a paper mill and an institute of technology, was also worked out.
  • The central government also promised to provide ‘legislative and administrative safeguards to protect the cultural, social, and linguistic identity and heritage’ of the Assamese people.
  • Though the accord brought an end to the agitation, some of the key clauses are yet to be implemented, which has kept some of the issues festering.

Look at the 3rd point. Undivided India was divided based on religious lines. If that be the case, why will Muslims who entered Assam between 1951 and 1961 be given full citizenship? Whose demand was that and who accepted it? For what? Votebank politics?

Look at the 6th point.............. BJP had touched a raw nerve when they said that Bengali Hindus would be provided citizenship under NRC.
Bengali Hindus or other Hindu refugees would not be given citizenship under NRC, they are supposed to have citizenship through Citizenship Amendment Bill. You assamese people may not want Hindu Refugees in Assam- all fine but the citizenship is not of Assam but of India, so why does it touch the nerve of assamese people?

From what I know, apart from Bengal and Punjab, Assam too was divided in 1947. Sylhet district though Hindu majority was given to East pakistan at that time. Since Sylhet is adjoining to current assam, Hindu Refugees from Sylhet should logically be settled in the adjoining areas of assam that become part of india. This argument does not fall under the scope of "assamese culture under threat" argument. Since India was partitioned under the able guidance of Gandhi-Nehru based on religious lines, all Hindu Refugees from East Pakistan has a birth right to settle in adjoining areas that became part of India. Where else will they go? If because of this your assamese culture is threatened, that can be raised by other means and addressed by GoI. The faulty Asam Accord does not consider all this and allows all Muslims from East pakistan who came to Assam before 1966 to become citizens of India. Why should real citizens of India accept that?

My solution: Evict all Muslims from Assam who entered after 1947. That will make (vacate) 3-4 times more place than what Bengali Hindu refugees occupy in Assam presently. In their place, let the Hindu refugees stay. Your Assamese culture becomes safe from Islamic-Bengali Culture and Bengali Hindu refugees get the justice. (only 6% of current Bangladesh population are still Hindu, they can be accommodated in other parts of India, if required!)

I do not know where people were getting free money from but when opportunities are less, the son of the soils generally crib about the outsiders. Would like to know more on how assamese people were getting free money.

- And the Assam Students Union (and by extension assamese people) accepted the cultural card. The only problem with this is that Bengali Muslim culture is not the same as Bengali Hindu culture- the almighty quoran will make its presence felt. That is one of my points- Congress is anyway known for it secular policies, but assamese people also went by same secular policies. And to me Assam Accord is a faulty accord based on the poison of secularism.




My opinion is simple. Assam Accord itself is flawed. You guys had an opportunity to evict all illegal immigrants who entered assam from East Pakistan/ Bangladesh after 1947 or 1951. But you settled for 1971.

Post 1971 all should be declared as foreigners is the point agreed upon, but not yet been implemented. Even AASU and AGP is demanding this very point.

Now when it comes to cultural point of view, let me just ask you a simple question. In Assam an uprising on the very point of culture had happened, but could you explain why such a thing had not taken place in WB if Bengali hindu culture is so different then Bengali muslim culture? Now from where people are getting free money in NE? Yesterday @Kshatriya87 here asked me a question regarding the Bogibeel project. ABV launched it in 2002 and its nearing completion in 2018. What took it 16 years to complete. The answer is fund which has been allocated to the project just got siphoned under one pretext or other and passed on to undeserving people by one way or other. Same with the development fund. Why you think that a state like Assam had not developed even being under special category status for so long. Another example is the recent non payment of salary to government employees in one particular district. They were getting regular salaries under congress but the day BJP came to power, their salaries stopped. Reason was that the fund which came for district development was rerouted as salaries under Congress government. There are many such example which could be quoted. So you see, as long as you are getting money here, no one is complaining. The so called Bhumiputra or Son of land is just a political gimmick and nothing else.

Now your solution of deporting every single Muslim from Assam in the pretext of NRC could have worked only if BJP would not have lost Hosh in Josh.

Your fundamentals are not in proper place. In India Culture and religion (some would say Dharma, not religion) are intertwined as far as Hinduism is concerned. Similarly the culture of an Islamic group of people is inseparable from Islam.

I emphasize it again and again that when an Indian has to analyze India, he must consider what happened in Akhanda Bharat. When you ask me a question about WB, you forget to ask me what happened in East Bengal/ East Pakistan/ Islamic Bangladesh.

And FYI, such a thing has been happening in WB right now. Bengali-Islamic jihad vs Bengali Hindu resistance. And jihadis are winning as of now under the patronage of Mamata. Take it down from me, if things go lineraly, Sammujwal Bhattacharya the secular leader of ASU would not be able to save Assamese Hindus from Muslims in Assam in a few decades. He would be the first to run away i guess, given the secular person he is.

You are taking the whole thing in a wrong way. In India its just the path you show the followers. Remember the case of Anti- Bihari or North Indians in Maharastra carried out by Shiv Sena? Was it against North Indian Muslims or North Indian Hindus too? Was it in between Hindus or Muslims or between Marathas and Non Marathas?

India got divided and lets not talk about some hypothetical situation here right now. When East Pakistan was formed neither you were there nor was I and so none of us could imagine what people felt like when they were first being forced politically to leave their belongings and second under radicalization. But in all these you are overlooking one aspect of East Bengalis. All got tortured by Pak army and Jamatis. They had not spared Mujibur Rehman for being a Muslim. Now we all know that Pak Army was Punjabis in mojority and Jamatis were Biharis who had transitioned from India to Bangladesh.

So you see, when you politically play the cultural card, it would hold much more strength then religious card. Even Momota is playing Bengali vs Assamese card instead of Hindu vs Muslim card. Another example is Subodh Biswas. He too played the cultural card and brought the situation to boiling point.

As far as Sammujal Bhattacharjee is concerned, I don't see any difference in between him and Tarun and Akhil Gogoi. AASU is the most corrupted entity of Assam right now along with AGP.

And remember one thing............. In India, Jo dikhta hain, Woh bikta hain. It is just a matter of presentation.

Actually the plans were to target Bengali intellectuals in general and Hindus in particular. It has been well-documented in different reports, articles, research manuscripts published on 1971 that the West Shitistanis leadership had decideed that Hindus as teachers, as doctors and engineers and as businessmen in East Pakistan were the driving force behind the East Pakistan agitations, and this was an opportune moment to get rid of the problem once and for all.

Operation searchlight started with specific targeting of the educated Hindu intelligentsia, leading to lakhs fleeing to India. Of course it later spread to anyone who opposed the Napakis. Also do remember that the initial contempt of the West Pakistanis towards East Pakistanis was because they believed that Bengali Muslims were far too Hinduised and that Bengali language was too close to Sanskrit and Indic languages for comfort. The believed that this is why it would be easy to subdue impoverished East Pakistani masses, just as "their ancestors" had "ruled over Hindus."

The first attempts to "wean away" the Bengali muslims of the "polluting Hindu influence" started soon after independence. Bengali curriculum was systematically changed to include more and more Arabic/Persian vocabulary.

To give a few examples the word Ramdhanu was replaced with Rangdhanu. Words like paani, aasmaani, were added to replace the existing Benglai words. Bengali speakers can attest that Bangladeshi dialect is quite different from Bangla spoken in India, especially being heavy on Urdu/Arabic/Persian words. All this began during Shitistani rule.

Incidentally, Mamata Bannerjee is going down the same route in introducing changes to Bangla curriculum in Bangaal.
