Based on discussions, Indian ecosystem is in place for AI development in defence, so that's good news.
There is commitment for investment in super computers to chew thru datasets, so that's good.
forces are already investing in AI applications individually, so that's good.
Now it's upto the forces to come up with more requirements.

otoh, cheen is literally marching ahead to be world leader in these fields, their AI and ML related works are miles ahead to us in such an extent that many university level researchers are going there

a passive device that looks like a rock, that can send alerts triggered by vibrations and sound when movement happens near them.
then news came that naxals were feeding wrong intel into listening devices in the jungles.

We should include any news of ACID (Air Combat Intelligence Development) in this thread. Its the official program spearheading India's Air Combat AI, especially for man-unmanned teaming. Its being developed by Indian Air Force and NewSpace collab.

Speaking at the first 'AI in Defence' (AIDef) symposium and exhibition, Singh spoke of making India a global hub for artificial intelligence and hoped that the products would open up new business opportunities as they have dual-use applications.
Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Monday launched 75 newly developed artificial intelligence-enabled military products and said that India desired world peace but won't be left behind in technologies needed to protect the nation.
Speaking at the first 'AI in Defence' (AIDef) symposium and exhibition, Singh spoke of making India a global hub for artificial intelligence and hoped that the products would open up new business opportunities as they have dual-use applications.
"Russia is a technologically advanced country and is continuously progressing in the field of science and technology. On AI, Russian President Vladimir Putin had said 'whoever becomes the leader in this sphere will become the ruler of the world'. Although India believes in the principle of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' (the whole world is one family) and has no intention to rule the world, we must develop the capability of our AI technology so that no country can even think of ruling us," he said.
Among the AI-enabled products launched by the minister were autonomous weapon systems, surveillance and reconnaissance systems, robotic products, human behavioural analysis software and a range of simulators and testing equipment. Some products like AI-enabled voice transcription software, driver fatigue monitoring system and evaluation of welding defects are expected to have applications in the civil world as well.

Rajnath Singh launched 75 defence products powered by artificial intelligence at the first-ever ‘AI in Defence’ symposium and exhibition organised by the Ministry of Defence in New Delhi.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched 75 defence products powered by artificial intelligence at the first-ever ‘AI in Defence’ symposium and exhibition organised by the Ministry of Defence in New Delhi.
These products were launched as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations. Out of these 75 products, some are already being used by the armed forces while the rest are in the process of deployment.
These 75 products are in the domains of robotics systems, cyber security, human behaviour analysis, intelligent monitoring system, supply chain management, voice analysis and C4ISR (command, control, communication, computer and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) and operational data analytics.
'REVOLUTIONARY STEP'
Speaking at the event, Singh described AI as a revolutionary step in the development of humanity; proof that a human being is the most evolved creature in the universe.
Singh further pointed out that AI had built inroads in almost every sector, including defence, health, medicine, agriculture, trade and commerce and transport.
“When there has been full human participation in wars, new autonomous weapons/systems have been developed with the help of AI applications. They can destroy enemy establishments without human control. AI-enabled military devices are capable of handling large amounts of data efficiently. It is also proving to be very helpful in training the soldiers. In the coming times, Augmented and Virtual Reality technologies will also be used effectively,” he said.
“Although India believes in the principle of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (the whole world is one family) and has no intention to rule the world, we must develop the capability of our AI technology so that no country can even think of ruling us,” added Singh.
ETHICS, DANGERS OF AI
Rajnath Singh emphasised the need to think about humanity and world peace along with one’s own defence and security.
India needs to work on the artificial intelligence mechanism "extremely carefully" and it must be ready to face legal, ethical, political and economic upheaval that may follow due to this technology, Singh said.
"We have to use artificial intelligence (AI) for humanity's progress and peace. It should not be the case that a country or a group of countries establish their dominance on this technology -- just like nuclear power -- and the remaining countries are not able to enjoy the fruits of this technology," he mentioned.
He noted that AI's ethics and dangers must be properly thought out.
"We cannot stop the progress of artificial intelligence and we should not try to stop its progress. But we need to be careful about it," he mentioned. When a new technology brings a huge change, its transition period is also as huge and serious, Singh said.
"We need to work on AI extremely carefully so that this (technology) does not go out of our control in the coming times," he added.
