Some regions of Azerbaijan have been under occupation by Armenia since 1993. This occupation is registered by the United Nations. The UN asked Armenia to leave the occupied areas.

Condemns the recent violations of the ceasefire established between the parties; calls upon the Government of Armenia to use its influence to achieve compliance by the Armenians of the Nagorny Karabakh region of the Azerbaijani Republic with resolutions 822 (1993), 853 (1993) and 874 (1993), and to ensure that the forces involved are not provided with the means to extend their military campaign further; demands from the parties concerned the immediate cessation of armed hostilities, the unilateral withdrawal of occupying forces from the Zangelan district and the city of Goradiz, and the withdrawal of occupying forces from other recently occupied areas of the Azerbaijani Republic in accordance with the "Adjusted timetable of urgent steps to implement Security Council resolutions 822 (1993) and 853 (1993)" (S/26522, appendix) as amended by the CSCE Minsk Group meeting in Vienna of 2 to 8 Nov. 1993; strongly urges the parties concerned to resume promptly and to make effective and permanent the ceasefire established as a result of the direct contacts undertaken with the assistance of the Government of the Russian Federation in support of the CSCE Minsk Group; urges again all States in the region to refrain from any hostile acts and from any interference or intervention, which would lead to the widening of the conflict and undermine peace and security in the region; requests the Secretary-General and relevant international agencies to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to the affected civilian population.

Learn your history. The only reason Karabakh is recognized as Azerbaijan is because Stalin partitioned it. If we go by Stalin’s partitions then most of Eastern Europe belongs to Russia. Karabakh is Armenia historically, culturally and linguistically. Azeris are nomadic mutts.

Another fact, the land has never been Azerbaijani or Turkish. Armenians lived in the Area for over 3,500 years, Azeris only go back 900 years.

But no surprise, Turks and Turkic speakers think everything belongs to them. Mohammad taught this nonsense. Anatolia, Cyprus, norther Syria and even Historic Christian churches have been taken over and converted into mosques. Kurds and Armenians have been genocided yet Turks always cry they are somehow poor victims.

Turkey and Russia have stepped up economic cooperation in recent years, including the joint venture to develop Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant in southern Turkey.

The landmark deal to build the 4.800-Megawatt facility was signed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin 2010, but may now be in doubt as the two leaders find themselves at odds over a series of foreign policy questions.

Inter Rao, one of Russia’s largest public energy companies, withdrew from the project following a board meeting on Oct. 26, Kerim Ülker said. The move comes after Turkey’s military intervention to support Azerbaijan in its conflict with Armenia over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region, traditionally seen as within Russia’s sphere of influence.

Despite only holding a one per cent stake in Akkuyu, Ülker said the significance of the decision came from the political connections of Inter Rao’s chairman Igor Sechin, who is Putin’s “de-facto assistant”.

“It is remarkable that Inter Rao, which is under the management of Igor Sechin, known as the second most powerful name in Russia, has withdrawn from the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant project. Especially in the immediate aftermath of Turkey's support for Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh,” Ülker wrote.

Azerbaijan destroys Armenian Smerch rocket launcher following attack on Barda

On Friday, the Ministry Of Defense Of Azerbaijan has released footage showed a drone attack targeting an Armenian 280mm BM-30 Smerch rocket launcher.

Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 armed drone operated by the Azerbaijan Air Force has destroyed the Armenian rocket launcher platform which was attacking civilian infrastructure in Barda, eastern Azerbaijan, near Nagorno-Karabakh.

“The firing position of the “Smerch” MLRS [Multiple Launch Rocket System] belonging to the Armenian Armed Forces, which fired at the peaceful population and civilian infrastructure in the city of Barda, was determined by our units,” it said in a Ministry of Defense’s statement.


Azerbaijan has accused Armenia of using cluster munitions in two days of attacks, killing at least 25 people and wounding dozens in Barda.

It would be the deadliest reported attack on civilians since new fighting over the occupied region of Nagorno-Karabakh broke out a month ago.

This follows Tuesday’s attacks that killed at least four civilians, including a toddler, in an Armenian missile strike on a village in Barda.

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev said on Twitter that his country will seek revenge for the Barda attack on the battlefield and added that 13 more villages have been liberated from Armenian occupation.
