Where is the whole PSC's report?“It is intimated that the missile firing capability requirement was there in MBT Arjun Mk II as required by the User. The missile firing capability from MBT Arjun Mk II main Gun has been proved in the user trial held during 2013. However, the missile fired from MBT Arjun Mk II could not meet the acceptance criteria in the short range due to issues in missile. Further in 2018 User has delinked the missile firing from MBT Arjun Mk II and the tank has been renamed as MBT Arjun Mk 1A and the user has taken forward the requirement procurement of Qty 118 Nos of MBT Arjun Mk 1A and subsequently the deemed contract for supply of Qty 118 Nos. of MBT Arjun Mk 1A has been placed on AVNL/HVF on 10 Jan 2022 to the cost of Rs.10378.326 Cr (118 tanks including 4 years ESP and training aids & aggregates) ARDE/DRDO is developing the missile for MBT Arjun which is under DRDO trials stages. Accordingly electro-optical systems and associated electronics systems will have to be tweaked and integrated.

Is this issue of integration due to the combat issues in Arjun?Manufacture huge number = yes
Integrate huge number = no.
Arjun has no combat issue per se.Is this issue of integration due to the combat issues in Arjun?
The important point the partial report did not mention is the short distance at which the missile failed is 500 meters.“It is intimated that the missile firing capability requirement was there in MBT Arjun Mk II as required by the User. Dude all tanks can fire their main gun quite accurately while moving .you are saying as it it is an ground breaking technologyThe important point the partial report did not mention is the short distance at which the missile failed is 500 meters.
1) 500 meters is not sufficient for any missile to get a bearing on the target.
2) The absurdity of requirement of short distance of 500 meter was never questioned. Because at this short time it is efficient to use the cannon/gun, wasting a missile with sensor is inefficient. No question on why this short distance requirement for missile and how it will affect in real battle situation.
No further discussion and the capability was quietly buried.
Similarly, in another tank vs tank trial Arjun was penalized for demonstrating the ability to accurately fire the gun while moving, which T-90 cannot.
Arjun tank's story is not a saga, it is a tragedy, till date. I hope someday it gets an opportunity to play its role and demonstrate its capability just like how Vande Bharat a.k.a train-18 came back.
There is no such thing as "getting a bearing".1) 500 meters is not sufficient for any missile to get a bearing on the target
You're in your tank moving through a field and suddenly you notice the barrel of a tank sticking from a dugout some 500 meters from you (The so called hull down defensive position), how will you engage it with your main gun?2) The absurdity of requirement of short distance of 500 meter was never questioned. Because at this short time it is efficient to use the cannon/gun
Almost all modern tanks have two axis gun stabilization, you can look up that very famous video of Krauts balancing a beer mug on Leo's gun. T-90s can engage targets while moving at 30km/hSimilarly, in another tank vs tank trial Arjun was penalized for demonstrating the ability to accurately fire the gun while moving, which T-90 cannot.
1) For NLAW, the sensor has the visibility from the get go. For cannon fired missiles it is not the case. It comes out of the cannon at and gets homing sensors get the target location, only then it can reach the target.
Telematics would be appropriate wordAviation + electronics = Avi-onics.
So, for land vehicles, Tanks, Army - [__] + electronics = __-onics???.....Armonics?Tankonics?Tonic?

At 5:24 minutes to last.1) For NLAW, the sensor has the visibility from the get go. For cannon fired missiles it is not the case. It comes out of the cannon at and gets homing sensors get the target location, only then it can reach the target.
2) Firing gun is faster than firing a missile. Missiles are mostly used for targets that are far away that the cannon gun projectile cannot reach accurately.
3) Only T-90 M fires on the move. Not T-90S, which is what Indian army has.

Russia reportedly loss a T-90 M, its most advanced tank in service
Russian losses in Ukraine have been mounting. These aren't small collaterals but signature pieces of Russian attack, denting the country's reputation.interestingengineering.com
3) Only T-90 M fires on the move. Not T-90S, which is what Indian army has.
Wrong; NLAW don't even have a seeker to have visibility...it uses INS (Inertial Navigation System).1) For NLAW, the sensor has the visibility from the get go. For cannon fired missiles it is not the case. It comes out of the cannon at and gets homing sensors get the target location, only then it can reach the target.
Wrong; atleast in case of Russian tanks that use auto-loaders for ATGMs too. It's just a matter of selecting a round.2) Firing gun is faster than firing a missile. Missiles are mostly used for targets that are far away that the cannon gun projectile cannot reach accurately
Are you sure? Coz afaik tanks as old as T-64 have gun stabilization and can fire on the move. There is literally a video from Ukraine where an Ukrainian T-64 engages a Russian T-72 on the move.3) Only T-90 M fires on the move. Not T-90S, which is what Indian army has.
Even in one Army promo video the colonel said T-90 can only do static to moving, or moving to static.Dude all tanks can fire their main gun quite accurately while moving .you are saying as it it is an ground breaking technology
"Moving"... Yes my 90year old granny moves faster. At 5:24 minutes to last.
We see the tank moving and firing.
