what's the best explainer oped available which explains the role and capabilities of ASW-SWC ?
Ya'll Nibbiars It's Name, Anti Submarine Warfare Sallow Water Craft. It has only one purpose defend the costal area against the Submarine threats. It's not a Multi purpose vessel. It's range is sufficient for costal patrolling. And will be connect to the Navy's Networks centric warfare and other naval assets like Neptune ASW helicopters etc. And Equipped with sophisticated sensors and ordnance, the vessels also possess the capabilities to interdict and destroy subsurface targets – primarily hostile Submarines, within the vicinity of the Costal Waters. It's truly a Chotta Packet Bada Dhamakas.

Ya'll Nibbiars

idea was that, instead of responding in short sentences, there should be scholarly articles who would answer a lot of question, and leaves very little doubts. there is no way such an article does not exist, if not available in main stream, it will be in some obscure naval journal.

was looking for something like this, this was written by a civilian engineer for DDR, if it was written by a former naval officer or scholar it would have more tactical flavoured info.

Its foolish to believe that land based ad will always be there to cover for it ..navy should have placed some form of AD on the ships
Proper AD missiles would be rather unnecessary I feel, this is a SWC not frigate.

Keel laying of Second ship (BY 524, Malwan) and third ship (BY 525, Mangrol) of Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW SWC) (CSL) project was presided by R Adm Sandeep Mehta, ACWP&A and R Adm I B Uthaiah, DG WDB, respectively on 21 Feb 23, in presence of Shri Madhu S Nair, CMD, CSL and other senior officials of Indian Navy and CSL at M/s CSL, Kochi. With all major and auxiliary equipment/systems sourced from indigenous manufacturers, these ships are the proud flag bearer of “Make in India” initiative of Ministry of Defence.

Contract for construction of eight ASW SWC vessels was concluded with M/s CSL, Kochi, in consonance with “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives of the Government of India. These ships are being built with a service life of 25 years. The availability of these vessels will provide sub-surface surveillance in coastal areas with the purpose of detecting and neutralizing underwater threats.
