Ancient Astronaut Theory

Most people believe in aliens - from ancient visitors to modern day extraterrestrials who visit Earth with an agenda. Clearly the creation myths of each ancient civilization discuss alien gods who descended from the sky for any number of reasons, some of who allegedly mated with human woman to create bloodlines, or created humans through biogenetic experiments. In the duality of physical reality, there would be good aliens and bad aliens - who would have great battles, just as we do while visiting here.

Ancient aliens, as we envision them based on endless physical evidence found across the planet, does not actually refer to a group of extraterrestrial beings who came here once upon a time, but is more about those who create the consciousness hologram in which we experience and learn. Reality is consciousness created in the matrix of time to study emotions. As we search for the truth behind the illusion about who created humans and other sentient life forms, we look to those who came from the stars - ancient astronauts or creation gods.

One must never forget that if there are indeed extraterrestrials who are physical beings after a fashion, and that creation continues beyond their agendas. They are a sub-routine, for lack of a better word, within our programmed reality. Call it a Grand Design, Master Plan, or whatever term comes to mind, but remember, it had a beginning and is rapidly approaching its end. Watch the signs - internal and external.

Did ancient astronauts seed the human race? If so, what was their agenda? Have these ancient astronauts used planet Earth as a place for their 'science projects', creating race after race using biogenetic manipulation, then wiping everything out and starting again?

According to ancient alien theorists, most of whom have researched the topic for decades, extraterrestrials with superior knowledge of science and engineering landed on Earth thousands of years ago, sharing their expertise with early civilizations and forever changing the course of human history. To this day researchers look for evidence to support this theory.

Ancient alien theory grew out of the centuries-old idea that life exists on other planets, and that humans and extraterrestrials have crossed paths before. The theme of human-alien interaction was thrust into the spotlight in the 1960s, driven by a wave of UFO sightings and popular films like 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968). The space program played no small part in this as well ... if mankind could travel to other planets, why couldnÕt extraterrestrials visit Earth?

Also in 1968, Swiss researcher and author Erich von DÅ niken published Chariots of the Gods, which became an immediate bestseller. In it, he put forth his hypothesis that, the technologies and religions of many ancient civilizations were given to them by space travelers who were welcomed as gods. He is regarded by many as the father of ancient alien theory, also known as the ancient astronaut theory. Since that time, he has written many other books and appeared in media presenting physical proof of his theories. In 2010 he appeared in the History Channel mini series, "Ancient Aliens".

The types of evidence von DÅ niken cites can be categorized as follows:

The existence of structures and artifacts have been found which represent higher technological knowledge than is presumed to have existed at the times they were manufactured. DÅ niken maintains that these artifacts were produced either by extraterrestrial visitors or by humans who learned the necessary knowledge from them.

These artifacts include the Moai of Easter Island

Egyptian Pyramids

Stonehenge

Submerged Cities thousands of years old

Humans could not have designed and constructed them

The medieval map known as the Piri Reis Map

allegedly shows the Earth as it is seen from space

Nazca Lines of Peru

which von DÅ niken believes was a landing strips or airfield

Art History

Interpretations of ancient artwork throughout the world as depictions of astronauts, air and space vehicles, extraterrestrials, and complex technology. DÅ niken also describes elements that he believes are similar in art of unrelated cultures.

Explanations for the origins of religions as reactions to contact with an alien race, including interpretations of the Old Testament of the Bible. According to von DÅ niken, humans considered the technology of the aliens to be supernatural and the aliens themselves to be gods. DÅ niken asks if the oral and literal traditions of most religions contain references to visitors from stars and vehicles traveling through air and space.

Vimanas

These, he says, should be interpreted as literal descriptions which have changed during the passage of time and become more obscure. Examples such as: Ezekiel's revelation in Old Testament, which he interprets as a detailed description of a landing spacecraft with angels in the likeness of man. Moses and the directions 'God' gave him to construct the Ark of the Covenant, which is assumed to be a communication device with an alien race. Lot and his extended family being ordered by human like 'angels' to go to the mountains, due to the destruction of the city of Sodom by God. His wife looked back at the possible nuclear explosion, and falling "dead on the spot". DÅ niken attempts to draw an analogy with the "cargo cults" that formed during and after World War II, when once-isolated tribes in the South Pacific mistook the advanced American and Japanese soldiers for gods.

If aliens visited Earth in the past, could they make an appearance in the future? For ancient alien theorists, the answer is a resounding yes. They believe that, by sharing their views with the world, they can help prepare future generations for the inevitable encounter that awaits them.

In China we find theories about an alien race

called the Dropa who left behind fascinating discs.

The Mayan - Popol Vuh, states,

"Men came from the stars, knowing everything, and they examined
the four corners of the sky and the Earth's round surface."
One has to wonder where the ancient Maya got their advanced
knowledge in astronomy, mathematics, and other physical sciences.

Mayan Calendar

2012

The Mayan Chilam Balaam texts stated,
"Beings descended from the sky in flying vessels...
white men in flying rings, who can touch the sky."

Glittering, unlooted 1,200-year-old royal tomb found in Peru MSNBC - June 27, 2013

Images of winged beings adorn a pair of gold-and-silver ear ornaments that a high-ranking Wari woman wore to her grave. Archaeologists found the remains of 63 individuals, including three Wari queens, in the imperial tomb at El Castillo de Huarmey. Gold and silver riches from more than a millennium ago have been found in Peru, within what appears to be the first unlooted tomb of South America's Wari civilization, researchers reported Thursday. The dramatic find is being revealed at a news conference at the El Castillo de Huarmey archaeological site, 175 miles (280 kilometers) north of Lima.

Amazingly Untouched Royal Tomb Found in Peru Live Science - June 27, 2013
A rare, undisturbed royal tomb has been unearthed in Peru, revealing the graves of three Wari queens buried alongside gold and silver riches and possible human sacrifices. Though the surrounding site has been looted many times, this mausoleum has managed to evade grave robbers for hundreds of years, archaeologists say. Long before the Inca built Machu Picchu, the Wari empire flourished between A.D. 700 and 1000 throughout much of present-day Peru. At a time when Paris had just 25,000 residents, the Wari capital Huari was home to 40,000 people at its height, according to National Geographic, which reported the find.

Cave Art Reveals Ancient View of Cosmos Live Science - June 27, 2013
Some of the oldest art in the United States maps humanity's place in the cosmos, as aligned with an ancient religion. A team of scientists has uncovered a series of engravings and drawings strategically placed in open air and within caves by prehistoric groups of Native American settlers that depict their cosmological understanding of the world around them. "The subject matter of this artwork, what they were drawing pictures of, we knew all along was mythological, cosmological," Jan Simek, an archaeologist at the University of Tennessee said. They draw pictures of bird men that are important characters in their origin stories and in their hero legends, and so we knew it was a religious thing and because of that, we knew that it potentially referred to this multitiered universe that was the foundation of their cosmology.

Old Story

Pope's astronomer says he would baptise an alien if it asked him
Alok Jha
The Guardian, Friday 17 September 2010

LINK: theguardian.com/science/2010/sep/17/pope-astronomer-baptise-aliens

An alien – 'no matter how many tentacles it has' – could have a soul, says pope's astronomer

Aliens might have souls and could choose to be baptised if humans ever met them, a Vatican scientist said today. The official also dismissed intelligent design as "bad theology" that had been "hijacked" by American creationist fundamentalists.

Guy Consolmagno, who is one of the pope's astronomers, said he would be "delighted" if intelligent life was found among the stars. "But the odds of us finding it, of it being intelligent and us being able to communicate with it – when you add them up it's probably not a practical question."

Speaking ahead of a talk at the British Science Festival in Birmingham tomorrow, he said that the traditional definition of a soul was to have intelligence, free will, freedom to love and freedom to make decisions. "Any entity – no matter how many tentacles it has – has a soul." Would he baptise an alien? "Only if they asked."

Consolmagno, who became interested in science through reading science fiction, said that the Vatican was well aware of the latest goings-on in scientific research. "You'd be surprised," he said.

The Pontifical Academy of Sciences, of which Stephen Hawking is a member, keeps the senior cardinals and the pope up-to-date with the latest scientific developments. Responding to Hawking's recent comments that the laws of physics removed the need for God, Consolmagno said: "Steven Hawking is a brilliant physicist and when it comes to theology I can say he's a brilliant physicist."

Consolmagno curates the pope's meteorite collection and is a trained astronomer and planetary scientist at the Vatican's observatory. He dismissed the ideas of intelligent design – a pseudoscientific version of creationism. "The word has been hijacked by a narrow group of creationist fundamentalists in America to mean something it didn't originally mean at all. It's another form of the God of the gaps. It's bad theology in that it turns God once again into the pagan god of thunder and lightning."

Consolmagno's comments came as the pope made his own remarks about science this morning at St Mary's University College in Twickenham. Speaking to pupils, he encouraged them to look at the bigger picture, over and above the subjects they studied. "The world needs good scientists, but a scientific outlook becomes dangerously narrow if it ignores the religious or ethical dimension of life, just as religion becomes narrow if it rejects the legitimate contribution of science to our understanding of the world," he said. "We need good historians and philosophers and economists, but if the account they give of human life within their particular field is too narrowly focused, they can lead us seriously astray."

The pope's astronomer said the Vatican was keen on science and admitted that the church had got it "spectacularly wrong" over its treatment of the 17th century astronomer Galileo Galilei. Galileo confirmed that the Earth went around the sun – and not the other way around – and was charged with heresy in 1633. He spent the rest of his life under house arrest in Tuscany. Only in 1992 did Pope John Paul admit that the church's treatment of Galileo had been a mistake.

Consolmagno said it was a "complete coincidence" that he was speaking at the British Science Festival at the same time as the papal visit.

The last couple of posts were hilarious memes, I used to see the ancient aliens docus on youtube...this guy did look weird.

By the way, does anyone know of Shivkar Bapuji Talpade, who is supposed to have created a flying craft and flown it. Apparently it was attested by a high court judge and the then raja of Gwalior. His sole source of technical information was the right interpretation of the vaimanika shastra.

Our forefathers cannot be faulted at seeing the vast skies above them and thinking of heavens and Gods existing above the skies. It's wishful imagination, nothing more.

If Aliens did visit us, it should be given due credibility only when we have retrieved some artifacts that could be proved beyond doubt as having extraterrestrial origins. Our own race has ensured that our artifacts have been left behind wherever we've been to, like Venus, Moon, Mars etc. Why haven't these so-called aliens done so??

Are intergalactic space travels depicted in our films and books real? Are stories of magic and vampires and werewolves real? There are a few who believe in these too, and IMO, those who believe in Ancient Astronaut theories also belong to the same category.

And why exactly is it that these "aliens" have to be necessarily humanoid? Why should they be thought of as wearing NASA-like space-vests? These are no different than our conditioning to view ourselves as the pinnacle of evolution, leading us to visualize 'God' too as a Humanoid entity.

I heard about Shivkar Talpade.

Here are some articles about him and his research.

Ancient Vimana Aircraft

Flying High
from DeccanHerald Website
December 16, 2003
Hundred years after Orville Wright's first flight,
K R N SWAMY remembers Shivkur Bapuji Talpade,
the Indian who flew an unmanned aircraft,
eight years before Wright.

Orville Wright demonstrated on December 17th 1903 that it was possible for a 'manned heavier than air machine to fly'. But, in 1895, eight years earlier, the Sanskrit scholar Shivkar Bapuji Talpade had designed a basic aircraft called Marutsakthi (meaning Power of Air) based on Vedic technology and had it take off unmanned before a large audience in the Chowpathy beach of Bombay. The importance of the Wright brothers lies in the fact, that it was a manned flight for a distance of 120 feet and Orville Wright became the first man to fly. But Talpade's unmanned aircraft flew to a height of 1500 feet before crashing down and the historian Evan Koshtka, has described Talpade as the 'first creator of an aircraft'.

As the world observes the one hundredth anniversary of the first manned flight, it is interesting to consider the saga of India's 19th century first aircraft inventor for his design was entirely based on the rich treasury of India's Vedas. Shivkar Bapuji Talpade was born in 1864 in the locality of Chirabazar at Dukkarwadi in Bombay.

He was a scholar of Sanskrit and from his young age was attracted by the Vaimanika Sastra (Aeronautical Science) expounded by the great Indian sage Maharishi Bhardwaja. One western scholar of Indology Stephen-Knapp has put in simple words or rather has tried to explain what Talpade did and succeeded!

According to Knapp, the Vaimanika Shastra describes in detail, the construction of what is called, the mercury vortex engine the forerunner of the ion engines being made today by NASA. Knapp adds that additional information on the mercury engines can be found in the ancient Vedic text called Samaranga Sutradhara. This text also devotes 230 verses, to the use of these machines in peace and war. The Indologist William Clarendon, who has written down a detailed description of the mercury vortex engine in his translation of Samaranga Sutradhara quotes thus,
'Inside the circular air frame, place the mercury-engine with its solar mercury boiler at the aircraft center. By means of the power latent in the heated mercury which sets the driving whirlwind in motion a man sitting inside may travel a great distance in a most marvellous manner. Four strong mercury containers must be built into the interior structure. When these have been heated by fire through solar or other sources the Vimana (aircraft) develops thunder-power through the mercury.
NASA (National Aeronautical and Space Administration) world's richest/ most powerful scientific organization is trying to create an ion engine that is a device that uses a stream of high velocity electrified particles instead of a blast of hot gases like in present day modern jet engines. Surprisingly according to the bi-monthly Ancient Skies published in USA, the aircraft engines being developed for future use by NASA by some strange coincidence also uses mercury bombardment units powered by Solar cells! Interestingly, the impulse is generated in seven stages.

The mercury propellant is first vaporized fed into the thruster discharge chamber ionized converted into plasma by a combination with electrons broke down electrically and then accelerated through small openings in a screen to pass out of the engine at velocities between 1200 to 3000 kilometers per minute! But so far NASA has been able to produce an experimental basis only a one pound of thrust by its scientists a power derivation virtually useless. But 108 years ago Talpade was able to use his knowledge of Vaimanika Shastra to produce sufficient thrust to lift his aircraft 1500 feet into the air!

According to Indian scholar Acharya,
'Vaimanika Shastra deals about aeronautics including the design of aircraft the way they can be used for transportation and other applications in detail. The knowledge of aeronautics is described in Sanskrit in 100 sections, eight chapters, 500 principles and 3000 slokas including 32 techniques to fly an aircraft. In fact, depending on the classifications of eras or Yugas in modern Kaliyuga aircraft used are called Krithakavimana flown by the power of engines by absorbing solar energies!'
It is feared that only portions of Bharadwaja's masterpiece Vaimanika Shas-tra survive today.

The question that comes to one's mind is, what happened to this wonderful encyclopedia of aeronautical knowledge accumulated by the Indian savants of yore, and why was it not used? But in those days, such knowledge was the preserve of sages, who would not allow it to be misused, just like the knowledge of atomic bombs is being used by terrorists today!

According to scholar Ratnakar Mahajan who wrote a brochure on Talpade.
'Being a Sanskrit scholar interested in aeronautics, Talpade studied and consulted a number of Vedic treatises like:
Brihad Vaimanika Shastra of Maharishi Bharadwaja
Vimanachandrika of Acharya Narayan Muni
Viman yantra of Maharish Shownik
Yantra Kalp by Maharishi Garg Muni
Viman Bindu of Acharya Vachaspati
Vimana Gyanarka Prakashika of Maharishi Dhundiraj'
This gave him confidence that he can build an aircraft with mercury engines. One essential factor in the creation of these Vedic aircraft was the timing of the Suns Rays or Solar energy (as being now utilized by NASA) when they were most effective to activate the mercury ions of the engine. Happily for Talpade Maharaja Sayaji Rao Gaekwad of Baroda a great supporter of the Sciences in India, was willing to help him and Talpade went ahead with his aircraft construction with mercury engines. One day in 1895 (unfortunately the actual date is not mentioned in the Kesari newspaper of Pune which covered the event) before a curious scholarly audience headed by the famous Indian judge/ nationalist/ Mahadeva Govin-da Ranade and H H Sayaji Rao Gaekwad, Talpade had the good fortune to see his un manned aircraft named as 'Marutsakthi' take off, fly to a height of 1500 feet and then fall down to earth.

But this success of an Indian scientist was not liked by the Imperial rulers. Warned by the British Government the Maharaja of Baroda stopped helping Talpade. It is said that the remains of the Marutsakthi were sold to 'foreign parties' by the relatives of Talpade in order to salvage whatever they can out of their loans to him. Talpade's wife died at this critical juncture and he was not in a mental frame to continue with his researches. But his efforts to make known the greatness of Vedic Shastras was recognized by Indian scholars, who gave him the title of Vidya Prakash Pra-deep.

Talpade passed away in 1916 un-honored, in his own country.

As the world rightly honors the Wright Brothers for their achievements, we should think of Talpade, who utilized the ancient knowledge of Sanskrit texts, to fly an aircraft, eight years before his foreign counterparts.
A flight over Chowpatty that made history - Times Of India

A flight over Chowpatty that made history
Pradeep Vijayakar, TNN Oct 18, 2004, 07.05PM IST

MUMBAI: As the roar of the engines of the Air Force jets died down when the air show ended on Sunday, there were a few whose thoughts went back to the first flight of a plane at the very Chowpatty beach over which the air show was held.

In 1895 an Indian pioneer flew what is said to be the first Indian plane in the air. The centenary year of the first successful flight, by the Wright brothers, was celebrated from December 17, 2003. But our own pioneer from Mumbai, Shivkar Bapuji Talpade, made an aircraft and had flown it eight years earlier. One of Talpade's students, P Satwelkar, has chronicled that his craft called 'Marutsakha'(Friend of the Winds) flew unmanned for a few minutes and came down.

Talpade belonged to the Pathare Prabhu community, one of the founder of Mumbai. According to aviation historians Mr Talpade used his knowledge of the Rig Vedas to build a plane. Orville and Wilbert Wright accomplished their feat in California on December 17,1903. Their flight lasted for 37 seconds.

The Wright brothers based the design of their aircraft by studying bird movements. Mr Talpade used the principle of solar energy combined with mercury to design his plane.

Pratap Velkar, in his book on the Pathare Prabhu community, says that Mr Talpade also studied the achievements of aviation pioneers like Alva Edison who flew in a balloon and survived a mishap in 1880. Mr Talpade's study included the experiment of machine gun inventor Hiram Maxim who propelled his steam plane down a slope. It did not take off for technical reasons.

In 1896 Samuel Langley's steam balloon flew at a height of 100 feet and a three quarters of a mile. Then came the famous Zeppelin 1900 which successfully flew at a height of 1100 feet after three attempts in Germany.

The first breakthrough in flying was made by a Brazlian, Santos D'Monte. He made 14 planes between 1901 and 1904 in his country. And he flew them himself. Many believe that Santos was the first successful flier and not the Wright Brothers.

According to Mr Velkar, Mr Talpade studied these flights which inspired him to make an aircraft and fly. Mr Talpade was staying at what is today Nagindas Shah Marg in Girgaum in the bustling heart of Mumbai. The frame of the historic plane was gathering dust at his house after his death. One of his nieces, Roshan Talpade, has been quoted by Mr Velkar's book saying the family used to sit in the aircraft's frame and imagine they were flying. At a recent exhibition on flying at Vile Parle, a model of 'Marutsakha' was exhibited.

Mr Velkar regrets that Mr Talpade's plane has not found a place in the aviation museum at Nehru Centre, nor is there a memorial to his feat at Chowpatty.

However some documents relating to his experiment have been preserved at the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited in Bangalore.

At an aeronautical conference in Chennai Talpade's flight was discussed by foreign delegates. D H Bedekar, one-time principal defence scientific officer, has said Mr Talpade's plane for some technical reasons failed to operate to its full design limits.

Talpade wanted to unravel the mystery with further experiments. He even made an appeal for funds some Rs 50,000 at a public meeting in Ahmedabad he had addressed. But to no avail. As his biographer,Professor Kelkar, wrote: "His efforts crashed like a bird whose wings are slashed."

In contrast the US army donated 25,000 dollars to the Wright brothers to pursue their feat. In turn the brothers' invention redefined how the US fought its wars.

Alas, as planes zoomed over Chowpatty on Sunday nothing was recounted about an Indian visionary whose flight of fancy remains in the throes of anonymity.

Those are the kind of questions, Erich von Däniken tried to find answers for.

He had written many books on those aspects as well. Few might find them as mind boggling, few might simply rule out the possibilities or the theories he has proposed and name it as absurd.

When it comes to Alien theories, there's no credible evidence anywhere ! All the articles, theories etc... are speculations in the first place.

Only problem is that Erich Von Daniken is nowhere unbiased about the subject. He willfully manipulates the scenario to suit things as he sees from his perspective.

ALL of the supposed loose ends that point to extraterrestrial help can actually be explained in a rational manner as the work of Humans. But He sees the work of aliens everywhere. He ends up doubting every technological improvement of our forefathers as the work of aliens, which is really idiotic to say the least.

Our forefathers were far more ingenious and resourceful than what we give them credit for today.

I agree with you to some extent ! However, one cannot simply ignore the questions he has asked and how he tried to relate them to ancient artifacts. Not everything which he says is absurd.

If our forefathers were far more ingenious and resourceful than what we are at present, why there is such a void between their era and present era ?

Why the knowledge was not transferred from one generation to another ? What went wrong in between that made modern humans to reinvent wheel all over again ?

It can be attributed to the really primitive approach of our forefathers towards preserving their work and to robustly document their scientific and technological progress. Also, our forefathers were sticklers for secrecy and tradition. Only a Brahmin could learn the Vedas, an Ayurveda practitioner only taught his most trusted disciple all his knowledge etc.

Wars have played their part too. Often in the past, the technology and knowledge of a vanquished country/culture would be totally lost after conquest. There are instances of large, great libraries and Universities of old destroyed during/after conquest.

I would not be surprised if, In future, some Nutjob started this theory that between 1800s and 2000s, Men received help from Aliens. How could a species that used to fight on horse-back with swords develop so fast as to invent things like Transistors, Nukes and ICBMs?? ALIENS!

Even today, we have ultra-modern technology existing side-by-side in regions which still look like they're from the middle ages. Don't we?

A lot of the narrative in these videos, especially when it comes to cultures outside of Europe tends to be one of omg these guys knew about science/astronomy/math concept? before us??" not possible! hence aliens!

I agree with @Phantom people from ages gone are kind of under estimated.in terms of abilities. For example..did you know that modern day plastic surgery was totally based of methods suggested by sisruta in 800 bc! British surgeons studied the books and replicated the same in England in the late 19th century, and from there on it evolved further.
A lot of information is lost due to conquest and hatred You know the fate of Takshila university to islamic invaders...similar things happened all around the world, and the books and people lost basically meant starting from scratch all over again
