DAS-like sensors and augmented realities are only going to be more sophisticated moving forward. Right now USAF are already using augmented reality to train against computer generated red forces while actually flying.

will amca have this??

is that su57 in vid??

Better ask that of the USN which sent the RFI to DRDO/HAL. Besides, how many successful carrier landings has T-7 demonstrated? Can it handle the high sink rate and controlled crash that a carrier touch and go needs?
It's a request for information - what is on offer, probably sent to all politically acceptable OEM's to find out if their offering is something that merits consideration.

Of course T-7 would need modification for use on a carrier, just like any design that did not start out as a carrier aircraft design.

Incidentally, I hear that a lot was stripped out of Tejas to reduce weight before the carrier trials. If true, any idea why?

To me that looks like an endorsement from USN. They must think NLCA got some things right. Let's wait on the RFP downselect before passing judgement.

Would you at least agree in its current shape it stands no chance in the competition?

Source of the rumour please.

Indeed, that will sort the real contenders out.

If carrier capability is required, agreed. If Goshawk was carrier capable, why would USN not want the same for its replacement? I ask because I have no idea why they would not.

About IN carrier landings, I would have read on this site that the aircraft was lightened.

Need To Find Alternative to Foreign Engines

Open Tender Of development Of 100 KN Engines With domestic Indian partners

500 Engines is Enough Order to attract Tenders

DRDO should Work With Private firms to develop Engines
It Needs Private R&D funding
We Spent Only 300 Million $ in development & R&D

While Needs Spends in 2-3 Billion $ Its need Both Govt Funding And Private Funding

First Step Is Transfer Kaveri technology To Private sectors

Free advertisement could open new markets in the west for Tejas. US is the pinnacle of Mil-Industry Complex- so any win there comes with stratospheric bragging rights. Tejas is probably an overkill for their requirements but is attractively priced & will form the light fighter end of the fourth largest air force in the world. Spares should not be a problem. Solely on technicals, India's product should be on top, the India-US strategic dance will provide necessary political heft to our entry or if not we'll at least know that that is just hot air. Plus, let's not put the cart before the horse & aim to win this one with full gusto.
We are a competitor to Anglosphere in times to come. No way NLCA will be selected for this role. Also US will prioritise its industry first. So I'm not hopeful on this deal.

Goshawk:

Think you mean the T-7 Red Hawk because the T-45 Goshawk is already flying from ACCs, while the former can not! So that's a big IF right at the start of your sentence.

Besides, did USN & USAF ever sport the same trainer aircraft? USAF has T-38 (now to be replaced by T-7) while USN relies on T-45 to bring rookie pilots up to speed.

US will prioritise its industry first
Aila! Atmanirbhar USA?

LIFT-LCA on offer (based on the Tejas Mk1A) is the only contender to have demonstrated safe and reliable carrier take-off & recovery. IN has spent many man-months (and will continue to with the soon to arrive NP-5) fine-tuning the dynamics of the aircraft for carrier ops. That must count for something.

It includes avionics that enable the aircraft to mimic other jets-

HAL chairperson R Madhvan has told ET that the same platform can be used to mimic any other platform. He said they just need to put in the flying characteristics and change things to the selected aircraft.

Further giving an example, he said if they need Rafale characteristics in the aircraft, the pilot will feel as if he is flying a Rafale.
I'd like to believe it stands a fair chance! In any case if it makes the down select, images from the trials with LIFT in the company of T-7, T-50 & T-100 will splash across the world press. That will do a world of good for Tejas exports globally.

This is what happens when you dev trainer aircraft and then suddenly jump into making of 5th gen fighter.
how the heck pakistan will make project azm bec they only paint and do maintenance of jf 17 bandar
Pakistan cannot even design and build a 4th gen fighter on their own since they know so little of the other technologies that are involved in the design and build of a 4th gen fighter..all they know is how to assemble a 3rd gen all-alloy fighter.

There are too many technological hurdles that they are not yet even beginning to surmount. They have no indigenous composites capability, no FCS capability, no ECS capabilities, no AESA radar of their own, no avionics like Mission Computer, no engine technology of any kind, etc. Heck they don't even have a decent wind tunnel!

All the Project Azm is gonna be is a Paki iteration of the FC-31. They'll tinker around here and there, modify some systems, integrate a MB ejection seat, apply green paint and call it indigenous. As of now FC-31 is the only option for them. TF-X is going nowhere and will be heavily dependent on Western systems which Pakistan will be nervous about due to sanctionability.

Pakis are desperate for even second-hand Western weaponry because they have first-hand experience of Chinese third-grade stuff. It's just that they are not able to get their hands on it. They don't think long term so the threat of sanctions may not figure too prominently in their calculus.

from IDRW

Iraqi Air force’s F-16 fleet is facing serious issues after Lockheed Martin started pulling out of some of its contractors from the country due to repeated attacks on the airbase where they are usually stationed, Previous withdrawal of contractors has affected half the fleet, leading to poor maintenance that effected half the fleet and some being grounded for a while now. With the withdrawal of more contractors leaving Iraq in the coming weeks, it’s a matter of few weeks before the Iraqi F-16 fleet could have ground the whole fleet.

According to media reports, sensing an opportunity to get their hands on newer airframes with little flying hours, Pakistani air force (PAF) officials approached the Iraqi defense ministry officials and proposed to swap 12 F-16 for the sale of up to 24 Chinese made JF-17 fighter jet along with assurance to provide F-16 technicians and contractors from Pakistan in help maintaining other remaining jets, but the proposal reportedly was rejected by the Iraqi defense ministry.

Pakistani air force (PAF) also has started direct talks with the United States administration for procurement of additional F-16 jets from either surplus corps of the USAF or from other users. Original 40 F-16s supplied to PAF in the early ’80s are nearing their technical airframe life and have limited upgrade capabilities that are now MLU Block-15/20 that limits augmented capabilities in weapons package. PAF also lost 10 F-16s in nearly 4 decades in service, F-16s fleet in PAF continues to be top tier aircraft in the fighter jet hierarchy, even after induction of JF-17 in large numbers. To counter the recent Induction of Meteor next generation, Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile (BVRAAM) system by IAF, PAF is also requesting the United States administration for sale of the latest and longer variant of AMRAAM called C7 to counter recent IAF moves to supplement 500 C5 variants that were sold nearly 15 years ago are now been outranged by recent induction by IAF.
