AMCA is proceeding as planned so far. So, FOC by 2032-2035 is plausible.

PS: Keyword: PLAUSIBLE. Nothing more.
Why did we start the project so late, porkistan will definitely get J-31s in future, so will we go to USA and Russia begging for FGFAs?

There was a plan that GOI will buy FGFA, but it was not stealthy enough. And the USA will not sell their 5th gen jet so it was decided that AMCA will fulfill India's 5th gen jet requirement.

F22 First flight 1997, First production 2003
F35 First flight 2006, First production 2011
J20 First flight 2011, First production 2017
T50 First flight 2010, First production (???)

All 5th gens so far except T50 have about a 6-7 year gap between the first prototype test flight and the first production model being completed.

If AMCA production date is 2028, maybe we will see a prototype soon?
Small correction.

First flight of YF-22 was 1990
First flight of X-35A was 2000

This private player introduction will lead to early induction talks are crap, just fyi...View attachment 64998

The average of this data is (14+17+15+14+15)/5 = 15 years at least.
Even if we make first flight in 2025, it won’t be inducted before 2040.
Dude you're comparing the times of 90s to 2020s
For now we have many facilities,f35 was delayed much because of sourcing of materials from foreign partners.
However yes it will take 10-15 years for " complete induction"

When we were developing tejas all pressure was at DRDO and HAL but today we have good amount of PPs which can deliver these systems at a faster rate and good quality.
Although agree that making an FGFA is not easy but let's see how it goes.
If only we don't delay in funding then only we would be able to make it a reality otherwise it is a NO GO

Lol do you know that today it is announced that a new design of AMCA is finalised which is F-35 like, and they say this after they froze the design a few months back. They can’t finalise the design and even if considering this is final frozen design then think how much more time it will take.

Design will keep changing even after prototype is flown,to give it a finishing.

Although yea I am more afraid about the cost of the project.
The Koreans declared their FGFA in 2000s itself and it took 20 years and not even first flight of 5th gen fighter has taken place.
2022 is the first flight of KFX block 1 but it won't be a FGFA because of lack of internal weapons bay.
And then trials, induction will take another 10 years so boom 30+ years lmfao.
It already costs around 10 billion dollars
Given that our AMCA was announced in 2009-10 if first flight happens by 2026-27 it would be impressive too.

Gripen is the only one comparable here.
Typhoon and Rafale are double engine.
F 35 is 5+ gen.
Also Comparing gripen it went from A to E where is tejas?
