If India wants to succeed in AMCA then its development work has to be taken out of DRDO hand. The whole work and all the personnel have to be privatized. Remember DRDO operates like a government department, highly inefficient, full of procedures, no discipline and no accountability. With that way of working the AMCA will not succeed.

May I know which private sector company has the capability of executing this project on their own?

Kek.. the operating word here is :development: .. Which no private industry is willing to do since they have no clear cut customers .. They are good for manufacturing be it on foreign designs or those from DRDO / ISRO etc..

Looking at the stupendous progress made by TAI's TF-X prompted me to take a look at how this entity is owned, so from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkish_Aerospace_Industries:

Contrast that with DRDO:
Indian Armed Forces (0%)
MoD (100%)
Indian Aeronautical Industry (0%)

Maybe we should explore giving our armed forces more stake so they migrate from client/customer mentality to owner mindset?

An aircraft without CDR?
If our airforce was as supportive as them then DRDO would've rolledout before CDR process
That's exactly the point I am trying to make. Move our armed forces to own the action.

Besides L&T who has the capability to venture into large scale R&D?
None not even TATA
And regarding L&T they have yet not positioned themselves for such program

F35
PDR Apr 2003
CDR F-35A Feb 2006, F-35B Oct 2006, F-35C Jun 2007

It took the Americans 3 & 4 years despite F-22/B-2 stealth experience.

AMCA
PDR Dec 2020 (almost 2021)
CDR 2023?

Are we really lagging on AMCA??

That's what I am telling AMCA is not lagging Infact it's going well
I'm only dissappointed That we won't see EOTS in amca mk1 rest is all fine
Hope paperwork is done fast and we get ccs fund.
People get dissappointed when some drdo chief comes and says timeline contradicting earlier timeline.

Boeing India considering participation in the AMCA program studying the SPV model of manufacturing !!! Boeing's Indian subsidiary is considering participation in the Indian 5th generation stealth fighter AMCA program...and currently studying the proposed Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) model of building prototypes they are considering sharing their knowhow and logistical supplies for the project alongside their Indian partners like TATA Aerospace...although it is quite weird to have an American company involved in our own stealth fighter project which we are developing completely on our own from scratches...leakage of some sensitive information may endanger our whole Aerospace industry...what do you all think on this ???

MBDA offers Meteor-NG BVRAAM for India's AMCA 5th generation stealth fighter !!! MBDA has just approved the integration of Meteor BVRAAM for the last batch of 30 odd Tejas Mk-1A jets because of the installation of Indian AESA radar Uttam.....earlier MBDA had objections on the usage of Israeli ELTA ELM-2052 AESA radar with which they refused to integrate Meteor for Tejas Mk1A, but they have agreed...to supply Meteor for last batch of Tejas Mk1A, whole Tejas Mk2 MWF fleet and also the under development Meteor-NG for AMCA 5th generation stealth fighter !!! That's a fantastic development for the Indian Air Force....although we are on our way to develop our own Meteor equivalent Astra Mk2 and Astra Mk3 SFDR BVRAAMs with ranges from 200-350 kms !!!!

ā€˜Agreed; then separate the DRDO into parcels and sell parcels with lock, stock and barrel to the private interests and let them run the show. Whatever could not be sold easily & immediately can be retained in DRDO.
