If AMCA comes good could it be used to replace the MKI as the oldest MKI frames reach the end of their service lives? When will the oldest MKI's need to be retired?
AMCA is a medium weight fighter to complement Rafael and TEDBF/ORCA. Sukhoi 30 MKI replacement will see a heavyweight aircraft like F-22, J20, Su T-50 or an Indian equivalent of these.

The older frames will be retired because not all of the MKIs operated will be upgraded to that super sukhoi standard (240 was the number if i remember correctly). The older SU's will be phased out by 2035(??).
Right, so ~30 will be retired rather than upgraded. If those were replaced 1:1 with AMCA Mk2, that would extend production and bring down cost. I know this is all very speculative but if AMCA was still in production when upgraded MKI's needed replacement, AMCA could possibly stay in production for several decades. If some company could make them efficiently, it could make a fortune.

Or, as you say, AMCA might be unsuitable as an MKI replacement.

Off course, AMCA will be a multirole fighter suitable for utility mostwhere. Heavier one, say AHCA would actually be a dedicated strike fighter for sole air superiority roles like MKI.
Stealth is just a feature of next generation. It can't substitute the utilities essential for particular role.

I think you miss the point , a medium weiggt can be configured for similar weight carrying capacity ,but for manuverability and more power to electronic you need bugger engine , and for that aircraft will be bigger , otherwise it will be overpowered , and that's my friend is called a heavy weight fighter , they aren't going anywhere soon

No, a medium range fighter can't cross the certain intensity of challenges beard by a heavyweight fighter without compromising other capabilities.

Will AMCA have a distributed aperture system??
Yes, AMCA will have distributed aperture system (DAS) which will include subsystems like Electro Optical Tracking System (EOTS), IRST and Dual Color Missile Approach Warning System (DCMAWS).

Of these individual technologies Electro Optical Tracking System (EOTS) and Dual Color Missile Approach Warning System (DCMAWS) have been developed by DRDO and allied laboratories.
As for IRST development/testing/optimization is in progress, its status is not clear.

As for DAS, integration of these sub-system was in progress and as per some YouTube infotainment channels DAS system is ready for AMCA.

AMCA can replace Su30 in all its role,
It's payload will be more than Su30 too.
And Su30 will continue to be in IAF till 2060

MTOW of MKI is ~39 tonnes.
That for AMCA is 25 tonnes. AMCA due to its medium payload won't able to do what a heavy fighter would. Though, it could take certain such operations in stop gap with limited goals. That's why it's being called multirole fighter.
Medium weight and heavyweight does not mean anything,
No it does, if math exists, it does. This classification exists because it matters for air forces to define capabilities.
Only thing that matter is payload and capabilities.
That's how fighters are classified for roles and capacities first place. AMCA is a stealth alternative of Rafael, TEDBF and F-18 Growler. Not Su 30 MkI at all.

Rafale* .

On topic - amca can fullfil the roles of su mki at sime extents ,maybe fully ,but it can't do what a su 30 mki ,heavy fighter replacement can do , so overall it is not good for replacement as you don't replace flanker with strike eagle , it should be something new
