AMCA will use internal pod. Nothing external mounted as that's anti stealth.

The first F414-GE-400K engine is delivered to #SouthKorea in May. Initially 15 engines will be delivered for six prototypes under KF-X program. ROK will see induction of 120 fighter aircrafts at the end. Personally, I believe KF-X will see success much earlier than others.

Plus this is a case well being a little late would be beneficial. Maybe F414-EPE will be available by 2024.

S.Korea is a technologically advanced country with very good manufacturing capabilities also very good RnD base. So I would hold back the word "inferior" until it flies. Also it will give them time to improve there product iteratively so by the time we induct it may will be equal to our design if not superior.

Oh no, I didn't mean their tech. But the design of that platform is pretty meh.

While tech quality & standard may increase with time, a design once frozen can only have minor refinements... Unless you go for complete overhaul like F/A-18SH or Gripen-E. But something that drastic again take several years.

They are pretty much doing what India and other countries with a developing aerospace industry have done.

Like we gained knowledge first by developing the 4th gen tejas similarly they are doing the same thing by first developing a 4.5 gen model.

After its success they will move ahead on the 5th gen prototype a good plan overall.

Platform wise, with limited stealth (mostly external weapons & pods dependant). Comparable more to ORCA than AMCA.

We are far far ahead of South Korea in aviation.

We have build a full flagged fighter with lca their ta50 is trainer fighter with limited performance.

Their current program is just kf-X which is not stealth and lacks internal bay .
Our current programs are mwf , tedbf and full stealth amca.

Their aesa radar is just starting development. Our aesa is flight testing on lca prototype.

They have no air to air weaponry. We have Astra operational on su30. Astra mk2 near trails and sfdr in testing phase.

They have no engine development done. Our kaveri has at least proven dry thrust capability to be used in uav/ucav.

And many more ways we are ahead of them . But they are ahead of us in conventional submarine building ( we are far ahead in nuclear submarine).
Even when both started with german submarines.

And they are a huge shipbuilding power while our commercial ship production is very small still.

Unless we privatize HAL. Our AMCA would remain on drawing board even when KFx retires.
