Dual Colour MAWS system operates in the mid IR band for identifying the approaching missiles of all generations. The spectral information of two colors is used to discriminate efficiently between sunlight reflections, background radiation and the radiation from the missile. The DCMAWS consists of a set of up to six dual color IR sensors installed on the platform, which samples the space in accordance with the defined spatial coverage and integrated with advanced processor running state-of-the-art clutter rejection and tracking algorithms to declare the oncoming missile threat with a very good false alarm rate.

Unlike most Indians here believe, domestic R&D is much more expensive than import in short term (10-20 years) because
1. You have to build up your own R&D infrastructure from scratch;
2. You have to allow your scientists to do all those expensive experiments (other countries have done decades ago) to accumulate the basic knowledge;
The list goes on and on....

All these costs can only be amortised in next 20-30 years. The advanced countries like US and Russia, these costs were already paid off while the developing countries are still paying the bills.

When the economy is getting into the trouble, the response of everyone is the same: cut the R&D because current survival is more important than the benefit of R&D that can only be realised years later.

That's doesn't apply to defense whose planing runs into decades anyway. Specifically in India where imports are justified by saying that domestic products will take more time . But this sudden crunch of budget stops imports and gives time for domestic products to catch up. In 3-4 years as the budget will recover mwf will be flying and tedbf design will be ready to be prototyped.

This will further dwindle the rationale of import down the line.

Nope, AMCA is going to have 2 variants.
A stealthy and non-stealthy variant.

The basic frame design is stealthy.
Two phases.
1) with 414
2) with k10 or 414 depending on how well K10 performs.

Stealth fighters and drones will be a necessary part of any modern air force. Of course, 4th gen fighters will be very useful for a few more decades, but if you're facing an air force that has some stealth aircraft, and you don't have any, then you'll be at a disadvantage.

Imagine MKI with Photonic Radar and Meteor which can detect F22 at 150 Km and can launch Meteor in a salvo . It's not the generation but the Capabilities of the sensor's and Weapons matters thats why IAF chief said Rafles 4+ gen is enough to counter J20 5th generation

360 degree situational awareness and 360 degree firing option . Awareness is the most important thing especially within enemy territory

Photonic radar? Is it even operationalized on any platform?
And meteor cannot be mounted on mki.
