Talk to france, for their Snecma, they offered us to improve Kaveri designs to produce >90 KN of thrust in just 18 months time.
amca is design around two 125kn thrust engines...

AL-31 is the only solution if we like to see it in air now...

Tweets are being displayed to me. Can't say what's problem with your browser.

BTW, those tweets contained nothing but above article. Boeing has offered to help in development of AMCA, adding GE414 engine as powerplant over that, probably a push for Super Hornet.
I'm not a fan of Americans but I'm too in love with Hornets.:p
It's a first class 4th G fighter, some type of aircraft I wished to be developed one in India.

At Aero India 2015, Tamilmani confirmed the possibility of combining Kabini Core-engine with joint venture partner core engine I.e. with EJ 200, Snecma M88, NPO Saturn AL-31-117 or General Electric F414 to produce 110–125 KN of thrust .
So, yup for the right away first flight, Al-31-117 is the way to go or F-414, but for long term solution, we need to think about a joint-venture.

90kn engines are not enough for AMCA..............we need american Engines .
Engine development on K 9 and K 10 started in August 2012 by Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE). A tender of joint venture on development of the engine was issued to engine manufacturers in 2015 for a foreign partner to help in developing the engine by combining both Kaveri engine technology with the joint-venture partners engine to create a 110–125 KTN thrust engine.[95] On 19 February 2015 at the Aero India 2015 Tamilmani told reports that a tender of joint venture on development of the engine was issued to General Electric, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls Royce, Snecma, Eurojet, NPO Saturn, Klimov and IHI to use current engine technology by combining Kaveri engine technology with JV engine to produce an engine capable of producing thrust of 110–125 kN.[96][97][98][99] At Aero India 2015, Tamilmani confirmed the possibility of combining Kabini Core-engine with joint venture partner core engine I.e. with EJ 200, Snecma M88, NPO Saturn AL-31-117 or General Electric F414 to produce 110–125 KN of thrust . France made an unsolicited call to help in development of AMCA's engine with full access to the Snecma M88 engine and other key technology, while United States has offered full collaboration in the engine development with full access to the F-414 and F-135.[100][101][102] During U.S President Barack Obama's visit on 25–27 January he pointed out a possibility of joint-development of a Hot-Engine, an advanced variable cycle engine capable of performing in hot weather conditions like those of India.[103] Rolls-Royce was also pushing a deal for a joint venture engine by offering the co-development of a new engine based on the Kaveri and EJ2XX engines.[104] In November, during the visit of Indian prime minister Narendra Modi to UK, Rolls-Royce again pushed the EJ2XX engine in a joint development proposal despite favouritism towards General Electric for a JV programme.[105][106] In December U.S government made sign of support for full fledge transfer of technology including many classified information of F-414 engine in joint venture engine development.[107][108][109] During Indian defence minister Manohar Parrikar's visit to the United States, the U.S defence secretary Ashton Carter and Parrikar discussed the matter of joint development of the engine

HOW ABOUT THE IDEA OF PARTNERING WITH US TO MAKE AMCA? WE CAN GET A FIFTH GENERATION FIGHTER VERY FAST AND US CAN PARTNER IT WITHING A FRACTION OF R & D COST THEY SPENT IN US.
Its not that simple, ask Japan, ask South Korea, they always impose some kind of restrictions on transfer of key technologies that are needed.

wE CAN NEGOTIATE INITIALLY. tHEY ARE ALREADY TO TRANSFER ENGINE TECHNOLOGY AND WE DO NOT NEED ANYTHING ELSE. The advantage they may have is that they can get a share in fifth generation or 5th + generation technology at a very very low cost. Look how much did F 35 cost to them?

Centre of Propulsion Technology's Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony held at IIT(Bombay)

The foundation stone for the construction of DRDO established IIT Bombay & IIT Madras bi-nodal ‘Centre of Propulsion Technology’ (CoPT) was laid at IIT Bombay premises by Union Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Subhash Bhamre

The foundation stone for the construction of DRDO established IIT Bombay & IIT Madras bi-nodal ‘Centre of Propulsion Technology’ (CoPT) was laid at IIT Bombay premises by Union Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Subhash Bhamre on 11 November 16. Calling it a crucial step towards making Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Make in India’ come true, he said that we aim at self-reliance even in defence R&D. He said that the centre was aimed at developing futuristic technologies and products. Such developments call for a great amount of inter-disciplinary collaboration and focused efforts, which DRDO will whole-heartedly extend.

The foundation stone for the construction of DRDO established IIT Bombay & IIT Madras bi-nodal ‘Centre of Propulsion Technology’ (CoPT) was laid at IIT Bombay premises by Union Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Subhash Bhamre

DRDO Chairman and Secretary, Defence (R&D) Dr. S Christopher presided over the function. Director of IIT Bombay Prof. Devang Khakhar, Director of IIT Madras Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthi and Chief Controller of DRDO Mr. MH Rahaman were also present on the occasion.

America is not that all powerful as before and they need countries like India to provide them the strength,
The world has changed a lot since 2 decades
Yeah that is true, they did it with Japan, by offering them F-16 as a platform in place of their indigenous efforts to build a jet, as a result, they got F-2. But, I guess, GOI has got enough think tanks and more intelligent minds and they might extract good out of this pitch.

If you have Chrome Browser or Opera Mini (Updated), try in that.

Otherwise, you can check tweets on this account:
twitter.com/user/LiveFist
You must have put in Kaveri thread.

Or you could start a thread for covering all types of Indian Aero Engines.:bounce:
Thanks for Idea.
I will look ahead to collect matter for such a thread.

But still, they are yanks after all. They won't leak you such critical tech easily.

the detail of $1800m in the rafale deal is still not in public domain , it was just stated to for india specific requirments...

Saw a video of AMCA yesterday. It claimed that from design to everything is ready because it is in the line with LCA MK2 design. . Main constrain is engine. So we are struck in engines once again.

I think russians should not have a problem for selling us few Al-31 afterall, we value Intellectual Property rights and have laws that work. GOI should approach russians for AL-31 as a stopgap solution for prototype testing until the K10 gets ready.

AL-31 is a less efficient Engine ...............

also AL-31 is very big ...........and we can not interchange Al-31 & K10 engines , we have to design Airframes according to Engine

please check their diameter & length .

That would mean to get F414 for the sake of prototype testing, because all others are either big or under-powered

I know they are yanks and I dont expect them to "leak" such tech, but China has that tech via leaking,
WE have brains to do that,..
One thing is for sure, USA had the last century and this century is ours, How America wants to align or have relationship with India is upto them and their interests. If they want us to be only their markets, then we may not be that close to them. We are big markets and we want countries that want to grow with us, So the other country has to tune their ego down and then consider,... what they want from India and what they offer.

But still, they are yanks after all. They won't leak you such critical tech easily.

Ummeed pe duniya kayam hai.:biggrin2:

Still, I would support PRC style, yanks won't leak it themselves, you'll have to steal.
Over that, it would be interesting to see Donald Trump's stances over ToTs. He's way different.
