Don`t you people learn lessons ?

Remember 1971, Crown jewel of PA Armour : Patton stuck in Punjab paddy fields with fine 106mm holes at there side turrets..

RIP to the crew..
And what you learnt from history?

I am sure you must remember the battle of chwinda.the 2nd largest tank battle to happen in the world.And those dozens of indian tanks turned into scrap by the PA armour corps

@Can the thread name be changed to Pakistani Main battle tanks so that we can even post about t-80ud and the rest of pakistani tanks in this thread apart from al khalid

NATO AP rounds penetrate 500-520 mm? :dude:

Arjun has a way larger armour cavity than your respected T-80UD. Kanchan should outclass base T-80UD armour easily along with 4S22 Kontackt-5 used on the T-80UD.

First and foremost, this thread has sofar been a fine AK thread but some annoying posts seem to be an attempt to ruin it.

So you yourself has accepted that Arjun is superior in protection to Al-Khalid. :lol: (Just kidding.)
@Keshav

man i didnt expect you to be so naive about the T-80ud after what you have read about it on another forum.

With a rifled gun and reduced barrel life of just 500 EFC due to plenty of wear and tear when APFSDS are fired and a reduced muzzle velocity which is a inherited flaw of a rifled cannon, not to mention the APFSDS IA CURRENTY uses, theres is no chance of penetrating AK front on let alone with Aorak ERA. This is just a plain fact because AK has composite cover between 650-700 mm estimate.

I hope you know the T-80ud is not the usual soviet style composite turret but has ukrainian layered composite amrour in it so.... :)
@militarysta @methos @Akim @Andrei_bt can shed some light on this

Now this is in answer to those queries presented on last two pages. For Arjun discusion please see the Arjun thread.

Thanks

Re: Main Battle Tanks and Armour Technology

Loading speed in autoloaders depends also how far to feeding chute is cassette with projectile and propelant charge. If such full cassette is closer to feeding chute, loading is faster, if further then loading is slower.

@Damian

But isnt this the area where a bi-irectional carousel movement helps?

Re: Main Battle Tanks and Armour Technology

Nizh developed to pull off Pakistani tank deal

[Khytryk] The project to develop an explosive reactive armour system that is now known as Nizh (Knife) was launched in 1997-98 as part of an effort to supply a consignment of T-80UD tanks under a contract with Pakistan. Russia, in the person of the Moscow-based Scientific Research Institute of Steel had reservations about that contract, saying the tanks being supplied to Pakistan were equipped with an ERA system one of whose elements, the 4C22, was of Russian design. For that system the Russian side demanded a huge sum in royalties that would equal almost 10 per cent of the entire contract value. By that time Ukraine had accumulated enough ideas of its own. So a decision was taken to create an explosive reactive armour system that would be of entirely Ukrainian design. To order from the Defence Ministry of Ukraine and in partnership with the Morozov design bureau in Kharkiv (who in fact came out as customers in that project), a fundamentally new ERA system had been developed within a very short period of time. In 2003, by the defence minister's decree, the ERA system that we designed was commissioned and commercialized by a factory near Kiev.

Re: Main Battle Tanks and Armour Technology

"Knife" ERA cassettes installed on T-80UD/T-84 would look like this:

You can see that hull ERA modules are more flat, and cassettes on turret are smaller.
