Improved IBMS Rehbar (Al Khalid, Al Zarrar mbt) characteristics...

Pak-IBMS (Rehbar)

Integrated Battlefield Management System

Integrated Battlefield Management System (IBMS) is designed for the operations of amour units in the field to meet the requirements of future battlefield. The user-friendly system provides battlefield awareness through comprehensive land navigation system based on GPS and digitized maps. It enables commanders in mission planning, modification and dissemination of plans, monitoring of battlefield at tactical and operational level, through safe and secure radio network. Pak-IBMS(Rehbar) also facilitates commanders in remote firing of AAMG by auto tracking the aerial and ground targets from inside the tank.

Major Modules

Situational Awareness Module enables war-fighters to see integrated battlefield picture through displays of terrain information in the form of different types of stitched maps with zooming, panning and browsing capability.

Tank commander can determine and display his own position with the help of integrated GPS and broadcast it to friendly elements in the communication range and similarly see other friendly elements in the vicinity.

Combat Messaging System Module enables commanders to exchange critical information/ orders in near real time and save history of messages. It has capability to either select predefined messages or write free-form text messages and transmit it to any individual/group or all participants.

Tactical Mission Planning Module helps commanders to prepare plans, overlays and mark no go areas on digital maps. The plans made during peace time can also be loaded, edited and modified based on intelligent information. The option of automatic saving of plans has also been incorporated to avoid any accidental loss of data.

The provision to mark military symbols and add attributes to all types of entities has also been provided.

Operational Features

Safe and Secure Information Sharing through adhoc networking of radios

Remote Operation of 12.7mm AAMG from inside the tank

Driver panel to facilitate driver to follow the correct route with the help of directional bars

Auto Target Tracking for Arial and Ground Targets

Laser Target Indication to indicate location of the hostile elements and its engagement

Ruggedized hardware to work in harsh environmental conditions based on Military specifications

can any pakistani expert tell me why they didn't go go m1 abrams tank in the 80s and now the type99 mbt since they seems to me a lot more potent platform to alkhalid and t-80 they are using?

M-1 Abrams was tested but struggled during Thar desert trials, gas turbine and optics heated up, could not cope with 55+ Celsius plus very fine sand granules, a terrain where AK and T-80ud excels and where most conflict is likely to occur,

Very imperfect mesurment, but if Pak.round have longer upper part of the projectile then max value is that - circa 560-570mm long projectile for that round.

Again - like in 3Bm42 round...

Ukrainian tanks can move in reverse only 35 km/h. Why do more?

Nope, They both are considered as top quality tanks, operated by elite units but In all dimensions, AK is better, you can check information on previous pages of this thread and compare the two. T-80UD was bought as a stop gap measure while AK was in development, first AK batch (15 vehicles) entered service in 2001-2002.

In what way better? FCS?

And second question - it's vell known fact that main T-80U and UD armour have two types of filter -first based on cast cels whit polymer and second whit plate multilayer structure. Mayby you know what type is placed in T-80UD? Andy rumors?

Better in FCS (French), Thermal Imagers (Catherine in Ak, Matis in AK-1), Hunter Killer capability, auto tracking ability, IBMS with datalink via UAV, autoloader is modified to accommodate longer rounds and is now fully electric (AK-1), no relays at all, composite armour (my guess is aluminium+ steel + ceramic material?) is better (it was also exported to Turkey for Altay project), Aorak 2nd gen ERA (AARDIC made, local)

UD's engine is 6TD-1 with 1000 hp output while AK has 6TD-2, same as T-84, initial UD trials had problems. Thar desert is one naughty place for tanks. AK also had several engine/ transmission problems there.

Wow, hold a second, I was talking about "filter" inside special armour cavity. As part of the armour. - T-80U had cast cels whit polymer inside and after that 40mm HHS plate:

light blue -cast steel turret circa 270HB scale
"dark blue" - 40mm HHS plate whit hight HB scale
the lightest blue - cast cels made by light alloys
orange - polymer inside cels

But in T-80UD shoud be younger structure whit at least 6 layers and internal NERA layer.

And about this:
it was also exported to Turkey for Altay project
have You any sources (can be in other then english language) or You just know from diffrent sources?

On cross terrain tank is moving forward with a speed of 35 and 45 km/h. The increase of the speed - change of tactics all the units (infantry, tanks, artillery). Why such "mad" speed in reverse?
