I wonder if Russia is working thru Ukraine?? First the mid air refuellers from Ukraine and now this. Russian weapons seem to make their way to Pakistan either from China or elsewhere.
Very much! Lets not forget RD-93 and duel use Mi-17s. India need to be cautious, Russia is not Soviet nor there are any eastern or western blocks favoring and supporting neutral nations. We have to be cautious when we pay extra to Russia.

Wonder why Pakistanis did not selected OEM China for upgrading their Al Khalid which is known in China as Type-96? Is this the kind of trust and respect Pakistanis have on and for China and Made in China?

Maybe because Al-Khalid is Pakistani version of Type-90-II, and ZTZ-96 is a completely different tank? ;)

On the other hand Ukrainians are probably trying to modernize with their solutions most Pakistani tanks, I would not be surprised if they will propose their Fire Control Systems, main guns, ammunition or ChSCzKW-19/34 Knife ERA or more and more modern turrets welded from RHA plates (only for T-80UD vel Object 478B/BE).

Such upgrades for their T-80UD's (Object 478B, Object 478BE) can make them superior to even Indian T-90S or Arjun Mk1, while after such upgrades Al-Khalid can be really tough opponent.

Completely, you sure? AFAIK, Type-90II is nothing but an inferior version of Type-96, same family. Besides, i know AL Khalid is part Ukrainian and but the question remains, do Pakistanis not trust China or made in China?

PS-reply was to unedited version.

I am 100% sure, Type-90-II use completely different hull and turret while ZTZ-96 (Type-96) is a very deep and modern redesign of the old clones of T-54 and T-55 series.

And why they choose Ukrainians? Because Ukrainians know how to design and build tanks and their components, Chinese don't have even smallest idea how to do that properly. They even probably don't know the whole theory. ;)

AK is the Pakistani verion of MBT-2000 based on the chasis of T-90II

The fire control system is french,,,gun is Pakistani.. and armour is also Pakistani made by GIDS...VATRA-1 (modified by HIT) and engine is Ukranian

Not exactly, Al-Khalid was shown earlier than MBT-2000 vel VT-1A, so Al-Khalid have more in common with Type-90-II.

I wrote that Ukrainians will, probably, trying to sold Pakistan their stuff in case of modernisation.

Most probably it will be ammunition and ChSCzKW-19/34 Knife ERA, and of course engines (6TD series).

A new report on China's new export tank, features China made 1200 h.p engine, wheel steering, auto-manual gear

Based on older MBT-2000 and Type-90-II, just with new stuff inside and some redesign outside, turret addon armor is based on ZTZ-96G and ZTZ-99 series, however dunno if it is ERA, some are suggesting it is not due to unregular shape of each segment/module.

Vehicle still lack heavy ballistic skirts or dynamic protection over non ballistic skirts. Turret side armor protected only by 70-80mm RHA plates, not properly angled to be fully covered by front armor against frontal projection hits from the most predictible angles.

So still, typical Chinese design unsuited to provide good protection within safe manouvering angles (frontal arc, +/- 0-30 degrees from turret longitudinal line), maybe some day they will learn...

Still it will be a very competetive design within it's class, price and in it's niche for countries with less deep pockets, and infrastructure not suited for vehicles weighting more than 55 tons.

If China built a 1200hp engine, why did they have to scrap the deal with Chile over Ukrainian objections?

MBT-2000 vel VT-1A in the end did not met all expectations as far as I know... on the other hand some demands for the new tank made by Peru Armed Forces were... well carefully saying, insane...

*Note: It was not Chilean Armed Forces but Peruwian ones that were testing MBT-2000/VT-1A, Chile is using Leopard 2A4 tanks from Heer stocks.

Ahhh - more like our "defense partners" are now desperate for money and are ready to sell to Pakis, Chinese and maybe even the NK if they can pay.

Now China make engines for tanks, make this 1200hp for 96A, and export models, make 12V 1500hp for new 99, also make 1850hp for China's AAAV. You know China is a developing country, China develop things, yesterday we can not make it, today can make it, tomorrow will make it better. All kinds of engines are big problem for China, the government knows and call it the heart disease of China's industry, and invested heavily in this field, now already get some results, the tank engines are ok now.
Also the turbo fens have some good result, the WS10 is workable now, pleas see the attached photo, this WS10 is for J10, single engine plane.
Also the war ship 052c,are powered by China made gas turbines

Dude - chill - China has stolen and trying to copy the Russian designs and technology for the last 20 years - no wonder they will succeed sometime. They are still trying to buy / steal from France, Israel and the lot.
